If you are behind a router that should firewall you from random attacks, just make sure that you get updated and the anti-virus before doing anything else.
If your current Norton is still working, use that to link directly to Norton's website, and purchase the package directly. Save all keys and passwords and such, do your upgrade, then use the link to install to go directly to the download. It should be an https: link. Or, perhaps, they send you an installer. Then you can just save that somewhere safe, do your upgrade, copy that back and run it. As long as you do things with secure mode (https:), these things should work safely.

The days when that was true are long gone. Those were wonderful times. Best bet now is using only https: connections.

...only currently have a direct hardwire connection. Still looking for an affordable hardwired gigabit router so I can also network the two systems together.
My kindle ereader is not all that I hoped it would be.
The kindle does not have the main feature I want which is immersion reading.
..agh I hate getting sales support people for whom English is clearly a second language. Just had the simple question about if I purchased the package could I get a downloadable installer instead of installing on line and for the last 30 min was run around about the different plans and options when I already knew which one I needed, then go off and start asking me how I feel bout topics related to Net Neutrality, targeted ads etc. Finally I was able to get the technical site address to chat with an actual technician about getting an install file without having to install online (didn't mention that I was no longer with the previous provider that offered the AV as part of their service).
Going to contact their tech support tomorrow as I want to make 100% sure I can download a full installer package before I plunk any money down.
...you want to read while in the bath?
That sounds great right now, but that is not what I meant. It is more like the read aloud books but not just for kids. It reads the book aloud while I follow the text.
tea time again, brrr, mug to keep my hands warm
SPG 1000 and welders goggles!!!
Never saw 'Annie', I'd guess?
It rained here despite the forecast. No wodka for the weekend, just dampness until late Sunday. Blech.
In one church here cell calls during service were such a problem they installed a jammer for a few services. Put a quick end to the problem.
Imported idiots are a plague. Placement agencies hire these guys for a few bucks an hour to run database searches and send emails, they can barely speak English and are clueless as to the jobs they're recruiting for. About 4-5 times a week I get recruiters leaving messages in such a thick Hindi accent I can't understand them, so at this point I just delete them the instant I hear an accent.
I had 3 emails for an iOS programmer position and I don't have iOS anywhere on my resume' and I've only touched a Mac about 12 years ago!! What happened to placement agents that were somewhat technical? :-|
The world is drowning in idiots... :-/
Was that reply to me? If so, that has nothign to do with what I was saying. You still need to do business only when you have a secure connection (https:).

Dana
It seems she was delusional!
When the Sun comes out...ask yourself, what day is it tomorrow? Does that sound wrong? It is. What day is it today? is the only question that makes sense. Especially if you've been out of work for a long, long, time!
Dana
Let's hope they don't have a similar situation to that church last year...nobody would be able to call 911.
Dana
Yeah, we have quite enough of the domestic type!
Dana
What day it is tomorrow is always (today+1). But if you want to get technical with me, consider that there is no such thing as 'now'. As slow as neural activity is, 'now' was actual a few milliseconds ago. The whole 'be in the now' business is physically impossible. However, you can easily be in the 'just a few milliseconds' ago. :-p
It's all relative to your frame of reference. Your computers 'now' is closer to whatever might constitute 'true now' than yours but it's still some number of processor clocks after 'now' has slid into the past.
But I wax pedantic... ;-p
It was somebody's good idea at the time. Thinking things through is not a lot of peoples strong suit... :-/
What? You wax you pecs?
Dana
Chill, damp and dark outside. Chill, damp, and light outside tomorrow. Currently 'damp' seems to be the unifying constant...
Since I missed my booze run chance, I'll be sending out for a Pizza Hut Big Dinner Box later today: two persoanl pan-crust pizzas, eight wings, and five breadsticks for about $20 plus tax and delivery. That's 3 meals right there!
I will not be getting the garlic sauce on garlic crust pizza this time... :-|
...aahh, kind of like a digital "book on tape".
...I still have my "eclipse glasses".
...no, Richard.
You're good to go then!! :-)
Finally bedtime! Too much strong coffee, ugh. But it's a new day so we'll see what happens...
Yep.
