I just purchased the pro bundle Owen 8 deal which is great but the problem is Owen did not install with DIM and instead along with several other characters had to be installed through Daz Connect. Sakura 8, Michael 8 etc are in 'My Daz Studio Library' Under Genesis 8 which is where I want Owen 8 to be. Now I have Owen 8 and the other characters in a Daz Connect library. How do I get DIM to install Owen 8 where the other Genesis 8 characters are? It's just that this adds a library that I don't really go to any help appreciated, thank you.

It might be a server issue. Look in your Product Library in your store account and see if it's listed as a DIM download. You could do it manually if it is the case.

Hi Doctor, It's listed as DIM but DIM didn't install everything. All this time I thought DIM was a data only type install, didn't even know I could install manually except to 'My Library'..just found the folder 'My Daz 3D Library' with all my content so I'm feeling a little embarrassed but thanks for the help! :)

  • The download manager does not show the product I just purchased. Clicking on the link in my downloads opens download manager, but nothing happens. The product I just purchased can only be downloaded with the download manager. The download manager did not work at all with Opera. The download manager sucks. How can I get my product?

DIM is a stand alone utility, it doesn't need to work through any browser.  What is the product?

This sounds like you clicked on "Install Manager Ready - Download and install" in your Product library or your Order receipt - but you don't have DIM installed.

If I am right, download and install this first: https://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info/

  • Help, Possible DIM file corruption!!

Tonight when I ran DIM all of my previously installed content is no longer showing in the Installed Tab.  Instead it is all now showing (over 4200 items) in the Ready to Install Tab...  I checked all my settings and everything is correct, however when I click on the Show Log button in Settings nothing happens on any of the Tabs...  The log file does show and open in its normal location of,

    C:/Users/.../AppData\Roaming/DAZ 3D/InstallManager

However the InstallList.ini file is empty but the HLog file does show and opens.

Any idea what is the cause of this and what do I do to get it all back?

    Thanks.

Have a look in C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles and see if there are any files. DIM creates a file in that location each time it installs something.

Nope none there, however they are located under E:\My Files\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles - had to do this as my C drive is too small to handle all those files...  This is where they always have been and there has not been a problem up until now when they all disappeared.  Therefore since they are there how do I get DIM to regcognize them as already having been installed??

Furthermore what about the Log File issue of not opening when it is clicked in DIM under Settings why is it not working?  Is there a way I can uninstall DIM and reinstall it and get everything back to normal???

    Thanks.

I'm not really sure what happened, or why the manifest files aren't there. If you have e.g. Genesis 8 Female Starter Essentials installed, you could do a search for IM00042071-01_Genesis8FemaleStarterEssentials.dsx on your computer. There should be 2: one created by DIM and the other where your downloads are. If you have only one, and it's where your downloads are, then it looks like you'll have to install everything again.

Have a look in your Start Menu for the DIM Uninstaller. You can use that to uninstall DIM and download the installer from your Product Library in your store account to install it again.

This is so weird as i did the search as you suggested and it found the downloaded file on my K drive, which is where all my DIM downloaded files are located yet as to the installed file it shows as being installed in Studio via the C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles yet I never told the files to go there...

Therefore my problem is appears to be even greater as there are now 2 Manifest file locations - this one and at  E:\My Files\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles    This is such a mess now and frankly i do not know how to fix it...  Should i merge the 2 Manifest files into a single one or do I need to start all over?  Since Studio has all my content already installed won't it create a conflict if I re-install all 4200+ items over the originally installed content?

Hoping this can be resolved, thanks.

  • I'm confused. Do you have any files in C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles? How many IM00042071-01_Genesis8FemaleStarterEssentials.dsx files do you have exactly, and where are they?

I'll look at your response in the morning (UK based) and go from there.

Yes DoctorJellybean and all it is most confusing and i do not know why it is happening...

In a nutshell C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles has 3,029 total files dated 10/17/2016 to present including IM00042071-01_Genesis8FemaleStarterEssentials.dsx as when I did the search that is when I discovered this folder.  However when DIM was installed I purposely changed the default location to my E drive and instrcted DIM to place the manifest files there.  For some strange reason it did not do that and placed it in its default location.  Moreover on my computer is this file as well as the downloaded file located on my K drive, which as i stated earlier is where all my downloaded files for Studio are located.

I do not know if this will help but have uploaded a copy of my log file and looking at the processes that took place on 2/15/2017 there are a lot of error messages recorded - thus I believe this is where the problem began as the next enries took place the following day and that is when all my installed files somehow got moved from the installed tab to the Ready to be Installed Tab - entrees are at the bottom of the log attached.  So once again I ask you can this be fixed or do I have to re-install DIM?  Can I save a copy of the manifest file and re-copy it into the new manifest file to get everything correct if I have to do a re-install?

One other thing I noticed in the log is an error in the amount of memory DIM is seeing installed @ 3.9 GB when I have 32 GB installed on this computer...  Maybe because it is a 32 bit program that is all it can see??

I anxiously await your response in my AM as I am in the US on the West Coast and it is currently 1:15 AM PST as I write this.

  • It might be easy enough to fix. But, before we do that, please attach your Account.ini file, which should be in C:/Users/Borgtrekker-7/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/InstallManager/UserAccounts

Don't worry about the memory reporting, 32bit apps can only see the first 4GB.

  • I can't figure out how my Install Manager (IM) installed all my installable content.  I thought I was looking at the wrong column.  There is supposed to be way more content NOT installed than installed.  Oh and, "Hi".

! ! !  I just added Lightwave 2018 (to the Lightwave 2015 slot in that area where one adds programs in use.) and I now have 214 Ready to Download products and 319 Installed.  I hope this makes sense. It doesn't to me.  But I am glad there's still items I haven't installed (because they're too old etc).

Hi, here it is, however I had to rename it to upload it as I got an error message stating file type not allowed...  Therefore only the file name was changed.

    Hope this helps, thanks.

Ok, according to that the manifest files are being created in the default location (C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles) which contains the installed manifest files. Now for some reason DIM is not seeing it.

Uninstall DIM and then reinstall it, it might solve your issue. As a safety precaution, copy that Manifest folder with all the files and paste it somewhere as a backup.

Do you by any chance have the Install after download option checked?

Hi Dr JellyBean, thanks for looking into this.

Will do with the re-install, however how do I force DIM to actually put the manifest files on drive E or elseware other than C/Public Documents as I do not have enough hard drive space to maintain them there??  By the way i have also saved a copy of the Log and INI files from the old install...

    Thanks again.

That Account.ini file contains this line

    OverrideManifestDir=

Enter your preferred path after that so it becomes

    OverrideManifestDir=E:/My Files/Documents/DAZ 3D/InstallManager/ManifestFiles

Or whatever path you want to use.

I'll say though that looking at your Account.ini file, it is a strange setup.

Do I need to do the overide before DIM is opened for the first time or does it matter? As to the setups that is because Studio 64 bit is installed on drive E & DIM 32 bit is installed on drive C.  I can install them both on either C or E if that will help matters...

Thanks again for all your help on this.

    Wade

  • Do the overide before opening DIM, as DIM reads it before opening. To make things less complicated, I would install all the apps on the C drive, and everything else elsewhere.

  • 1.1.0.74 is still a 32-bit only application for macOS.  So about 8 months now until it will no longer run (for those that update this year to macOS 10.14).

Daz is aware of this issue, and is working to address it.

I've been through TONS of software. This install manager is so bugged ... When I install standalone files, it works, when I install DAZ through install manager it gives to me Install Failed. Now it seems that I'm unable to find the standalone PostgreSQL CMS standalone installer. Can someone please help? This "installer\manager" doesn't deserve to be installed.

The obvious first question is what security software are you using?

Was there a fix so DIM doesn't auto download everything, the first time I ran it it started to automatically download , and it's going terribly slow.
  • jestmartjestmart Posts: 4,449

There is no fix because it is not a bug, DAZ thinks this a useful feature for newbies.  The best you can do is file a feature request with DAZ and ask them to turn this off in the next release of DIM.

It doesn't auto download everything, you have to select what you want downloading.

  • jestmartjestmart Posts: 4,449

For first time users it does auto download and because Install After Download is checked by default it starts installing too.  This a bad, bad, bad thing to do, a user should always have the option to check the Preferences and set up a program to their liking before using it.

    Greetings,

I know the search/filter has a lot of cool capabilities, does anyone know if there's a way to search for products that are dependent on products that I do not have installed?

I uninstalled virtually everything from Genesis and Genesis 2, and want to also find everything that depended on those things so I can uninstall those as well (mostly).  So for instance, Cassia requires Olympia 6 and Genesis 2 Female Body Morphs.  I still have Cassia installed, because her name didn't match any of the obvious Genesis 2 / Generation 6 naming schemes.  I'd like a query, or a set of files that I could grovel through, that would result in a list of packages that are (1) installed, and (2) depend on other packages that are no longer installed, that would include Cassia.

I don't see anything in the .dsc files that would help, unfortunately.  I can follow them down to the ones which express other kinds of dependencies (the .dsx files in Runtime/Support) but I can't see how to track that to (e.g.) OIlympia 6.

    Any thoughts?

  • Is anyone else getting dialup-style download speeds drom DAZ? Whether I use DIM or try to manually download from the site directly, it's like I've gone back to a 56K modem. I have broadband, I've checked my speed, and I can download just fine from other sites, but DAZ is making me wait all day.
