It looks like there is cloud rendering, though not really sure.. And yesh the public beta had been out for a while..
...interesting that there was mention in the commons about it. There usually is when a new beta is released.
So wonder if Daz is handling the cloud rendering as a service, or Nvidia through Daz considering issues with the EULA and third party render/3D printing houses? If it is and reasonably priced, may mean not having to scrape up the 1,000$ need for a 1080 Ti and memory upgrade.

Ok, i am not sure that i understand correctly. Is dim going to be removed and you download directly from daz 4.9.4 (i stll have 4.8). I like dim, it keeps store out of actual daz and it is kind of between them. I dont have endless wallet and i dont want to see products i dont have money to buy, i do not want adds in daz. I like buying directly from strore (and using dim) and not just daz's main store, also from rendorosity and others. I can also see sales in store and plan what to buy in limits of my wallet.
Also there is that new "daz connect" feature. If i use work ofline. Does that remove all those new online features and make daz work like what i have used to. And can i use dim to download.

I use 4.9 with DIM, and it works fine. Well, not 4.9.4, Avast is still thinking about allowing me access to it. :))) But 4.9.3 worked just fine with DIM.
4.9.4.113 is still in Beta status and updated automatically via DIM.

I don't use DIM. I manually download and install everything, and I've just discovered Windows Defender doesn't like 4.9.4.
For anyone else on Windows 10, if Defender pops up and tells you the new version is an unrecognized app, click More Info directly below the message, and a button will appear on the bottom-right, giving you the option to run it anyway.
You're not alone. There are several further security programs indicating DAZ using some kind of trojan mechanisms.
Perhaps in DAZ they're harmless. But in general - yes there are suspective sigatures used by the developers.
I often pointed it out in the past but it was denied.
Autofit & Transfer Utility updates, huh? I hope this means better footwear support.
some AV programs simply see something new and say "Ooh it's new, must be suspect" because it isn't already added to the heuristics that the program recognises.
So the question is: What's it going to break?
Well, the install finished without a hitch. Humorously, the new version has prompted me to do some Spring cleaning and reorganize my library. I just deleted everything and am about to re-download what I want access to.
I installed without a hitch as well after the same message did not ask me to clean anything. Perhaps due to using custom categories? Now time to find out whats busted LOL. If its bad enough I would not simply re install 4.3 I would re intstall win 10 image.. Gots to find out what this "new iray" is all about..
I've seen this a lot. A while ago I wrote a program on my desktop, put it on a memory stick and when I tried to istall it on my laptop the security software said it was highly suspicious and I should delete it immediatly! Obviously I can't be trusted
I backup every week, and reinstall every year. I'm not worried about Win10.

This is the first time I have tried 4.9 - I have been using 4.8.
I noticed the render time seemed slow so I unchecked CPU render, assuming it would use my Geforce GTX 980 as normal. It doesn't. It bails out of render and does nothing. I recheck CPU render, it is fine (but slow).
The first thing I'd check is the complexity and memory requirements for the scene. If the whole thing won't fit into your video card's memory at once, then the GPU can't be used to render it.
If they've fixed the bug where clicking to select a body part with the Active Pose tool randomly causes the character to leap out of position, I'll probably be a happy camper!
Same here. With CPU unchecked and my two Nvidia cards checked, the iray render just finishes immediately with a blank screen. With CPU checked the render seems to be using only the CPU.
ETA going to check my nvidia drivers are up to date as sometimes thats the problem
It's a single G3 figure that renders easily in 4.8.
I'm not upgrading until I get some clarity of what the actual IMPROVEMENTS are.
And if that whole list of complicated nomenclature is THE INFO, then I'll wait till someone comes along and explains it in English or
a noob has a question that I'm too scared and noobish to ask, like.....
What's in this that demands an upgrade and WHERE do I see gains?
GUI?
Render Time?
Render Quality?
Daz has only crashed on me once so far and the scene that hung my system, had a seriously HUGE re-sized iray wall prop.
Other than that, we've been good.
I just tried rendering the DAZ Material Ball with 6,400 CUDA cores, and it finished in 8.85 seconds without breakin' a sweat.

And they have now cleared it as safe. :)
That was my problem. 4.8 was stable and I hadn't updated the Geforce driver for a year. Now that I have updated, 4.9 renders using the graphics card.
Optitex clothing works, but my full plugin is gone. The one I bought three months ago. The one I've been trying to learn. No place to add it or input the serial number. It's just MIA.
EDIT: Looks like it just needs to be reinstalled. There's no place to put serial numbers though, for this one and many of the other plugins. Hopefully that won't be a problem.
