Luckily i avoided that most of the times, happened to me once with a texture I prepared for a render in Gimp from a DAZ product so I could download that again, but I was a bit panicky then...

Funny thing, you'r kind of preachign to the choir, laugh there are some links to useful armor for females on the front page of my group on dA (well for now its mostly my group, the founder is mostly inactive) http://fightin-females.deviantart.com/

I was just checking your and your thread visitors' general stance on the topic because I had no idea about your level of involvement either.

*sighs* For someone whose sole active social network is dA, I navigate it terribly. I managed to locate a number of links but they were either about drawing female anatomy or dead. Did you mean links to 3D stuff or something more generic?

Speaking of 3D, there is this one in the store here which makes sense in terms of the breastplate: https://www.daz3d.com/joan-of-arc-for-v3

Xurge has a couple of nice ones in his personal store, like Peacemaker for V4 and some sci-fi ones (not all sadly), but his fantasy ones are, well, very much fantasy save for Fantasy Knight and Battle Mage expansion to a lesser degree.

I don't know of any other sets =(

The links from the group are more generic as the group itself is not restricted to 3d stuff.

I kind of inherited the group, took over as a mod when they asked for help and for the moment I only manage the submissions as time to do that is restricted. So I do need to look up if the links still all work and generate some general activity there. I probably have more time for that next week as I'm off work for some days. There is a Log entry all the way down on the front page that contains a title convincing armor and clothing, after that the links follow.

I've seen the joan of arc armor as well but for now I'm not in real need and converting and adapting usefully from v3 is a bit a of work so I probabyl would use a make one and adapt it.... well time will tell

Aha, so I guess those were the links I found originally. These don't work anymore:

Why the shape of breasts in plate armor doesn't work
Folds & Clothing Tutorial for Women

In case you ever need to use older armour, what I think is adapting armour from old figures is not that difficult IMO, unless you want it to be a conformer - but why? Armour doesn't bend. So it's possible to just take the obj files apart and parent the right bits to the right body parts, with some scaling.

Thanks for pointing that out, I hope I get some of that group stuff done, though I'm back struggeling with some stupid flue, so I'm afraid i will spend most of my free time sleeping and the rest doing necessary chores...

Here is my latest entry for Llola Llanes render a month. I call this Dooms edge

and instead of taking jsut some character I already have I made a new one from scratch, So I made a new skin with SB3 and used the UV swap to put it on an Ekko base, then I diales around a lot ( bit of Ahmad, bit of Leo and a lot of morph dials in general. The marks on his skin are made with a LIE map in the top coat layer as they would have gone lost in the base colour. I will triy to use one of the tricks for lighter skin marks on darker skin I've read about now for the next time. They all sound like something I#d like to try.

I made the eyes a bit glowy by putting the original Iris colour map into the emissive and add a red tint to it. I like that a lot and I guess I should give that guy some screen time where he's in focus LOL. the eyebrows are Alfreds.

And as there is a new thread with older sets around, in the background is DMR Lynettes dark rites https://www.daz3d.com/dmr-lynettes-dark-rites

    now here he is

Is the focus really on the blade or are my eyes too tired to see the dude clearly? It's 3AM here...

Love the fact that you used DOF to emphasize the sword instead of the camera

I know it's unnerving after some time but yes the focus is on the blade as it was to show off the edge of the blade. I'll do one with the focus switched soon ( for my own sanity as well)

Thanks Sonja I guess you meant the guy, not the camera.. . must be a side effect of this render ;)

so for everyone who's been thinking of making an appointment with their eye specialist ( ok, I looked up the word, it's ophthalmologist, which would bring me to my ear, nose an throat doctor...)

here is is Doom ( thats what stas if the focus is off the edge I guess, so he seems to have adopted that name) in all his beauty

Now I see a nice Drow dude. Thanks =D

I have no knowledge of any characters or products that come after the original Genesis - are these Alfred eyebrows fibermesh or transmapped?

Thanks Sonja! I believe he will reappear with some more screen time.

What i used in the abckground of the Doom render was a part form DMR Lynettes dark rites https://www.daz3d.com/dmr-lynettes-dark-rites up there is in iray but I wanted to try around a bit what to make with 3DL. So what I did was

    1) remove all the original lights and use Marshians reflective radiance

    2) move the flame map into the ambient channel  of the candle flames, give the ambient colour a candle flame tone and dial it up to 200 % and prop a linear point light to every candle flame ( looking at it now i should have turned the surface of the canlde flame to cast shadows off..)

    3) turned the stained glass opacity down (they are almost not see through in the original version, the opacity map is a bit strange) and moved the clour map into the ambient channel of the glass, dial tht up to 100%

    4) give the metalware a polish: turned the DS basic shader from plastic to metal added reflectivity and tinted that and the speculer according to their metall colour. I guess using a real metall shader and then reapplying the bum maps etc would have been the better  result.

    5) the skull is from the monstrous skulls and comes with Iray only shader, I turend that to 3DL with the bone and Nails basic (ctrl doubleclick/ignore to keep the original information intact) from marshians refelctive radiance adjustment shaders

What I didn't do yet: The set is not gamma correction  friendly as it comes so I let the gamma correction to off for now. Correcting that would lead to a more crisp result I believe. Same goes for displacement. The maps only use the Bump channel, setting up the displacement would make this an extra fine set. I guess I'll get to that later

So there are a lot of very nicely mader materials, the wood looks like old wood even from close up. And this is just one scene out of the set, there are like 4 or 5 different ready sets, all this for 0.60$, thank you very much DAZ

Another thing you might try is invert the diffuse colour map and apply that to opacity.

Thanks Richard, yes I have done that in some cases as well ...  I don't remember, maybe the one with the castillo del diabolo window?

Congrats =) Those leaves with DoF are so cool, and they match her outfit, nice touch!

...and just how much time does it take to bathe a dragon?..

I went and used all that positive energy to get my head wrapped around blender... Found a tutorial that is exactly my style of learning. Feels like the perfect wave right now laughyes

Here is a shoutout to everyone who got their DAZ stuff on a separate HD adn uses the DIM:

Attention, with the new DIM donload it forgets that you want to save and install you stuff somewhenre else, so you need to establich your own ne path and select that in the DIM details for the products!

So if you got weird results with products you downloaded after the new DIM, there is why.

On a different note after I finally installed this one https://www.daz3d.com/epic-props-godrays-volumetric-light-for-iray to where it belonged and took a look at the instructions I had the funniest surprise:

it loads as a prop into the scene:
