Well if they release 'a' DAZ Studio 5 I will very surprised and interested to add what major capabilities they have added.
...and what we lose, especially with any plugins.
If we lose plugins, can I keep 4.9? Or does installing a new version automatically override? Then again, 5.0 beta will likely be released months ahead of time so I can test with that.
Download and make a back up of your currect version of DS, just in case. Installing a new version - if there is one - will override the one you are currently using.

Genesis 4 most likely being out "daz soon" has been the top speculated character release for a while. I would not be surprised if it will be out soon. I actually. Prefer Genesis 8. Genesis 4 sounds a lot like mike and Vickie 4. So hopefully that is the new name.
Yeah, if it is a con - someone stumbled on a bright idea calling it Genesis 8 rather than 4. Still suspicious though - why use promo images for G3 figures?
What puzzles me is, why would you send out something like that on a Saturday? And Saturday after 6pm in Utah, at that? Wouldn't you want that announcement to go out when you were actually in the office? And why would you make an announcement like that on Twitter and Facebook and not say anything in the forum? Even with Genesis 3, I remember them putting notices here.
That they're using older images doesn't surprise me; they also did that before. That said, one thing they've done consistently with the Genesis generations is to sneak images of the upcoming Victoria into the promos for items up to a couple of weeks beforehand. But I don't remember seeing any Daz Originals clothing, apart from PC Club stuff, and I don't remember them doing that with PC items before.

Yes, I could see given the very stale status of the Optitex and Gofigure plugins similar features might be directly integrated in and support for those plugins dropped. That also has me curious any LAMH 2.0 direct integration or plugin status?
100% speculation on my part so I expect to be chastised by one of the forum moderators I suppose.
I'd like to see Figure Metrics directly integrated and much improved too given it's a very basic functionality.
Oh well, I'll not turn this into another DAZ Studio 5 wishlist thread.
You bring up a very good point about plugins. I just bought up a ton of Optitex stuff super cheap- both here at DAZ and at their own store. Though the stuff is old, it's still good and works. I'd hate to lose the functionatity of all those purchases in a new version of DAZ Studio. Definitely backing up my current version. In fact, I'm pretty much backing up everything.
If both posts (Twitter, FB) were done at the same time, then it is possible that someone put in a wrong date into the timed post function and selected Saturday instead of, I dunno, Sunday? So it would be up fresh in the morn on Monday for people to buzz about it?
...considering I am now on a fixed income while living in a city with obscene rents, Genesis3 is pretty much the end of the line for me unless I come into some kind of windfall.
Content with where I am at as I also have four very useful plugins: the Growing Up morphs, UHT-2, Skin Builder Pro 3, and GenX 3 that will keep G3 viable for a long time.
It's incorrect information. Daz was using a third party to schedule some social media posts. We recently stopped using them, but it appears that during the transition a sample test post that had been sitting around accidentally got scheduled instead of deleted. I have removed it from facebook and am hunting down the Twitter post as well. I especially love the v7 and m7 images on it. Sigh, chuckle, shake my head, and I apologize all.
You know how FB can be. Apparently Twitter can be that way too but I don't twitter but FB has some doozy posts quite often. They may have deleted the entire post if someone crossed the line of civility with a comment.

Sorry to hear it, though my bank account is rejoicing. If you're using a service like HootSuite, that type of thing can certainly happen on social media.

edit: Oh, OK, nevermind. Mistake advertising
Actually I don't as I stay far away from FB and twitter, LOL

Well the Facebook ad copy clearly says 'a Genesis figure' so it won't be a pair of them.
I wonder, if this was fake, wouldn't someone from Daz have said something by now?
They probably all went to grab some popcorn.
or they could be sitting at home right now laughing their butts off, LOL.
do you think they're still laughing when everyone is not real happy about the release of a new figure? LOL.
I couldn't get any sleep because it is miserably hot and moist and that's why I noticed that tweet at 3 am of my time.

...I hear you there. I still miss using LDP2 and the Poseworks plugins which is why I keep a version of 3.1 64 bit on my system.
...exactly what I thought.
well that's interesting. I think the Facebook post has disappeared.......hmmmmmm......wonder if this thread will disappear too.

The whole thing is just a puzzlement.
Well, as of 7:30pm Mountain time, the tweet is still there.

Is the Twitter one still up? The facebook one has gone...this is getting curiouser and curiouser.....
Twitter one was still up as I checked like a sec ago from this posting date.
I took a screenshot of it and shared it. But yeah, it's gone now. Wonder if this thread will disappear next...
Sorry, DAZ but you can't put the genie back in the bottle once it's out. Ahmad for G3M can vouch for that. LOL
As of 8:38pm Central time (GMT -7 at the moment, I think) the Twitter announcement is still there.

I forgot i was on twitter and following daz. LOL. Yeah just had a look.
...thank you.
damn...I was actually excited if it was true.
Okay, I'll change the topic into "False alarm" then? Probably not a good idea to delete right away? @DAZ_Steve

I was actually excited Genesis 8 male was going to be out earlier than I thought. Fortunately Genesis 4 female will still likely be out daz soon.

I'm thinking of doing a betting pool.
I still think June 20 will be the day.
Actually I don't as I stay far away from FB and twitter, LOL
So Steve, it's the 21st now, right? Hint, hint
