So people are getting a 50% off coupon now too? More being left out... yay...
I was sure my coupon originally said it expired February 12. I wonder if I was hallucinating.
I think one of the targeting methods for giving out 'offers' is statistics about who is most likely to respond to them. People who are good at resisting sales, or HAVE to resist sales because of a fixed budget just aren't easy marks. And providing the offers to them can mess up data collection about successful and unsuccessful marketing strategies. Every targeted coupon is a test of a system they're probably constantly refining to squeeze as much money out of the whales as possible.
ETA: I am definitely a whale. Which is a game development term for the small percentage of freemium gamers who support the whole shebang by spending thousands in relatively short time frames.
Not 50% per se. It's a flat $10 off of an order of Daz Originals totaling $20 or more. It's limited to 3 uses. And it appears to be based on purchases made in 2016, probably on how much money one spent. Basically, if we spend a small fortune in one year, Daz rewards us with incentives to spend another small fortune in the next...

Thanks for the update, Charlie!
Well, that's going to make it interesting... :D
Deleted.
Or we've all bought the same subset of products or responded to certain past offers or NOT responded to certain past offers. Add to that the fact that the targeted set is most probably multiple combined sets (like "sure bets" and "never buys shoes" and "usually purchases within three days of a product launch") and there's going to be no way to know the exact criteria. For me, I spent around $10 more than I intended to today because of the offer-- and it'd be better if I spent less but they've got my number pretty good.
Well, I probably shouldn't have posted that, because it's probably just a huge Random Number Generator hooked up to the best how-to-suck-in-customers-with-gambling-type-odds research. The video game companies know that the gambling psyche bit will keep players coming back forever. And you can't let them win too often or they stop playing the odds, according to statistics. It's got to feel like a battle to the win.
And I admit to clearing most of Stratholme and killing Baron Rivendare 214 times to get his Deathcharger's Reins, so I'm definitely a hooked kinda person. Oh, and Karazahn for Attuman's Fiery Warhorse's reins, and others... Yep, throw in RNG and a pretty prize and I am hooked.
Edit: Pardon the World of Warcraft reference. That was a fun game back in the day, though, especially with many friends and family playing. Want to buy a time-turner.
It's the first time I'm happy I didn't get that 10 dollars banner and did get excluded. I have 5 dollars left in my Store Credit and just got Elijah Pro for 80% off (and when I saw Elijah the first time I was already like "OMG, goth, soooo want it!" despite not having enough store credit to get the pro). No banner, not temptation. I haven't reloaded my Store Credit since November and have been living off coupons and contests ever since. Let's hope it will last till I win another something that gives out store credit so I can have something nice for March Madness.
The $10 off $20 is not that great a deal in itself. Everything is at its highest price now. I was able to combine it with the 60% off flash sales earlier and PA stores that had some DAZ Os at 58% off. I'm sure during March Madness the prices will be better than this deal. If they have more flash sales tomorrow by PAs that have Daz Os I want, I'll use the coupon but not really worth it otherwise. If nothing else, Daz is improving my math skills...
My biggest problem is still that I have no idea how much time we have to use the coupon. Can I wait? Can it be used even a few months from now? Should I spend it now? I would be a lot happier for the coupon if I knew the answer to these questions.
I know. Mine has no date on it but one person said it ended the 10th, another the 12th and I have no idea where they got that info from. I can't believe the sales department actually refused to give the end date. I've never heard of a store doing that. And how does it help them? If the coupon expires and no one expected it, they could potentially lose out on $30 per person who didn't use the coupons because they thought they still had time. If they work indefinitely, why not just tell us that or if they expire soon, tell us that, so people would hurry up and buy.
Not sure if this is why, (and it would be dispicable if it is,) but without a specified expiration date, Daz could just pull it at any time that suits them. From a legal standpoint, without a specified expiration date, I believe they have to honor the coupon indefinitely, until each recipient has used it three times. Realistically, that's not going to happen, but when Daz pulls the offer is anybodies' guess.
Yeah, but if they just pull it, they lose money. All the people who were going to buy, now won't. Most of their marketing is pretty brilliant, but this makes no sense, they just lose money and customers who were planning to buy will get disgruntled and won't want to shop at all.
I thought mine did too. I do like the coupons and banners. I don't always get them and I'm fine with that. I enjoy the extra offers when I do.
Mine originally said 12 as well.
I only ever saw 10th.
After a bit of thought, I'm glad not to have the temptation. I bought Elijah because he was unique for DAZ, imo, so a bit of a splurge 'cause he was "pretty." I'm trying to be better about buying things that aren't for a specific project. Plus saving for March Madness.
I have so much content I've never used. Must be more efficient and give in less to temptation. ;)
That's just crazy talk. :-)
That's why I didn't buy him. He looks fantastic and I love that Daz is trying something new, not to mention the discount was great ... but I don't really have disposable income for something I like but have no actual need of right now.
Agreed. Anyone who's killed Rivendare 214 times (you kept count??) will succumb to the temptation. Resistance is futile.
I think it is the "easy mark," thing. They already got $10 out of me... and will likely get more.
I almost choked to death on my coffee, LOL! :)
No, CrazyTalk isn't a DAZ Original last I checked.
Yep, we know where the Borg went; they all work for DAZ. ;)
Seems reasonable to me. It's a "limited time" offer, and people often respond to those by making use of it sooner rather than later; with an increasingly itchy trigger finger as time passes.
If the coupon lasted forever, folk could just sit on it until another DO discount came along (March Madness, etc).
There are no immediate deals attracting me, and I probably won't have time to rummage. Won't be too upset to miss out.
I'm going through the list of PC+ and DO items and not really seeing anything I need. I wonder if that's a function of me purchasing too much in previous sales?
That's the catch 22. You get the coupon because you bought so much stuff and then you don't need it because you already have so much stuff. I did use one instance to buy the Bowling Longe and the Fantasy Chamber (which were on already on sale) aloong with a PC+ item to reach the $20 mark. I'm not sure what I will do for the other two uses.
Found some items after all for the coupon; I'm not sure whether to be happy or to feel like I got suckered LOL
