    Yeah, but if they just pull it, they lose money. All the people who were going to buy, now won't. Most of their marketing is pretty brilliant, but this makes no sense, they just lose money and customers who were planning to buy will get disgruntled and won't want to shop at all.

    Disgruntled describes me pretty good these days. Ever since the Christmas Day advertising debacle. "Intentions" don't mean squat. Words are what count. In an article regarding settlements between the FTC and three companies with complaints about their coupons and rebates, then Director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, Jodie Bernstein, said, "Companies that offer savings through coupons and rebates have an obligation to say what they mean and mean what they say." The same holds true for any form of advertising, online or off. As long as Daz continues to play fast and loose with their advertising, the bulk of my 3D budget will get spent elsewhere.

    I bought some things I wouldn't have bought otherwise, with the $10 off deal (and did it three times already, not going to wait) and as a result, got very pleasantly surprised. One character I bought looks nothing like the promos because I only had Gen3F, not Monique 7. (Here's Senna, then my render of Senna on Gen3F)  The secret to getting great deals is to pick the items already at 58% off. My items averaged $3.91 each. (So if you're looking for a nice character that is a DO, I would give Senna a look.)   Edit: the Ailmer Outfit is also a DO and 58% off, that is what she is wearing.

    I only used it twice so far and these were my picks (see attached) I'm especially liking the bowling lounge but it is resource intensive  So far I haven't found more high discount  DOs that I really want and don't already have to make a third order.

    So theres a way to use the $10 coupon without actually having $20 in your cart, and you can get 92% off you total order very easily. I did it three times. So basically you can use the coupon with as little as  $15.20 in your cart. I did it once with 15.20, 17.56 and 16.76. Good luck and work fast before they shut it down.

    Haha, that's funny. In a way, it's kinda cool since it makes shopping more fun (imo). I hope Daz continues to make creative coupons:

    'Buy one item released on a full moon, get a second item (from any PA with a name alluding to a character from Marvel comics or a fantasy creature) for free.'

    'Buy two new release characters, get 90% discount on any character from G1 or G2.'

    Obviously these would be difficult if not impossible to implement programmatically and would drive some customers away, but in general Daz is pretty creative with their sales ideas (much more than other stores) and I think its enjoyable.

    Indifferent about the coupon. I got better deals with stacking discounts in last March Madness than those discussed in this thread.

     

    Incidentally, for some reason Eva 7 is included in the M4 / V4 80% discounted items related to today's promotion. If you want it, probably best to grab early.

    Sorry, no idea. Maybe we can render a crystal ball and guess ;)

    Odaa- I picked up a lot of older stuff with that coupon, particularly clothes. Some are beautifully designed, and I finally have what I need to move them forward to newer models. I figure  they can always be retextured if needed, but I love some of the original textures too. Here's a render of the Blue Moods dress for V3 on a G3F.

    You did an amazing job adapting that dress to G3F and to Iray. :) Most of the clothes in the 80% sale aren't calling out to me, but I'm going to go through another pass this evening :)

    Thanks, Odaa! Rediscovering some of the older items is a lot of fun. Some of the early stuff is really unique and has not been made again for current generations. I'll post some more conversions soon!

    I've spent money today I wasn't planning on, but I think I now own every 3D Universe toon animal. Even picked up Lady Littlefox's Unicorn while I was shopping. Now how to tell the wife we can't go out for Valentines because of my toon addiction. Hmmm...
