Im actually surprised TG2 is being received so well given it doesnt have the same style as TG.

TG1 is very nice but at the extreme ends of the morph dials do not morph well and TG2 will morph better it is much more easy for folk that want to use morph dials and mixing or editing of different textures and other DAZ 3D clothing and hair to create original characters. However, which you use is completely dependant on the style you want in your render/animation.

At the end of the day, they are both just two different type styles and liking one does not mean the other is disliked just because it's not like the 1st style. I have both mega bundles and don't regret either purchase.

One more for tonight, will play more this weekend. Here's "Adventure Pinky". Just a test render. Lighting needs tweaking. Stopped around 80% rendered, so it's a little grainy. She's got the Adventure Girl outfit on, plus a LIE lace face mask and lipstick (had to turn off the eyebrows, they poke through the mask.) The eyes are Paris' Macro Eyes. I increased the iris size by 10%. She's in a Mei Lin fight pose and has a Victoria 7 Attitude expression. Because why not mix it up?

    Love it!

Looks like it includes the tv, rug, chair and table.

Ooh, I like her mixed with Megan. Nice work!

How well do they transfer to G2 with GenX2?

I don't do G3, so I look for that compatibility. And while the normal obstacle is HD morphs, well... this doesn't seem to be the kind of stuff where HD is going to be a problem.

I want to take a stab at this tonight, but I can't remember how the heck to do it. Haven't used Gen X in a while. Gotta go look up the thread.

OMG, I bumbled my way through it! Here's a side by side of a basic Toon Generation 2 next to a Genesis 2 Female with the Toon Morph via Gen X2! I purposefully did NOT age her, becauase I wanted to bring over the minimal amount of morphs to see if it would even work. It does! Now, to try some more stuff...

Here she is in the Sighni Outfiit. Lefthand side is G3, right hand side G2 with default G2F skin. The hair didn't autofit, but I don't think I have the clone that goes from G3F->G2F. I do have one for the males, and will try that next.

I used customized settings with Akvis Sketch for the first one and Akvis plus DAP (Dynamic Auto-Painter Pro) for the second.

    Left side

    Akvis settings:

I then duplicated the layer and set the upper one to Screen.

    Right side

    Akvis: as above.

    DAP:

Re-Acrylic preset with everything set to precision over speed, et. al.

DAP as the base layer and the Akvis layer on top set to Overlay.

I highly recommend Akvis (especially Sketch), DAP, Topaz Labs (especially Adjust and Clean) and FotoSketcher (Free!) for non-photoreal postwork.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the idea of mixing The Girl / The Guy in.  The facial style matches well and the resulting body shapes are a little less stylized but still toony.  Here's a quick render where I was playing with postwork styles.

    Hi Crescent,

I am still sitting on the fence regarding purchasing these toon characters, but really impressed with the postwork you did in these examples to give a shaded drawn character look. I particularly like the first lighter shaded picture couple. I would be very interested to know what postwork you did and with what software to achieve this effect.

    Many thanks.

Thank you, Crescent! Great information! I've been wanting to learn how to do this. Can't wait to try!

Here's a male toon transfered to G2M. Original on the left, G2 on the right.

Shape: I tried this time to age the Toon a little first (age 26), but the aging morph didn't transfer. I probably missed something. Maybe someone else who knows GenX2 better might be able to figure that out.

Clothes: I used  the G3M for G2M clothing clone to fit the Renegade outfit to G2M with no problem. Nice to know that works.

Hair: That's Fraser hair on both of them with DG's Toon Hair Shaders.

Materials: I didn't shade everything for Iray, so if it's looks bad, that's why. This is the default G2M skin. Toon eyes. I'm not sure if you can get the Toon skins on them. I've never worked backwards like this, but I think Cayman has a UV set going from G3 to G2. I have all the ones to bring things forward, not backward.

Morphs: I did make the G2M taller, and played a little with morph dials. You can use the youth morph dials to make him tiny (I have the aging morphs for G2) but doesn't seem like you can make him a lot bigger. I'm probably missing a step. I also couldn't get the gun to stay put, but oh well lol. Not bad for a second try!

Oh duh, why didn't I think of that? Thank you! I was so focused on the shaping tab that I didn't even think about the parameters tab.

Also, it just occurred to me- the original Toons (Generation 1) were meant to go with Genesis, right? Why not convert the new ones backwards to Genesis and use the skins, hair, etc from the old ones? Maybe there's a way to bring the new skins backwards too. I don't have the original Toons yet, they're on my wishlist. As soon as I have them, I'll try it.

EDIT: Here he is scaled and bulked up a little. You could play with shaping morphs and get him pretty close or make him look entirely different. I actually like the eyelids and eyebrows on him here. Just needs more color in his skin for a toon. Maybe a different G2 character skin or some shaders would fix that. Other than that, not bad!

Save        Actually the Original Toon Generation is way older then Genesis and is a stand alone , so 3DUniverse created clones of the original Toon Generation for Genesis3 so that the      clothing and hair will work with the new and improved Toon Generation2 AKA Genesis3

Oh, wow, didn't realize they were that old! Wow. Not sure if the tranferred GenX toons would play nice with the original toon stuff, though the new toons are supposed to be backwards compatible. Might break with the transfer, dunno.

    Great renders!

@thenotoriousjed- Love the "rough night!" That's hilarious! The expression is great!

@the3ddigit - Impressive that you got them into Carrara so fast. They look pretty good!

Here's Pinky again (G3F version.) She's raided Star's wardrobe and even her hair! That's Voilet Hair and the Steamer Outfit. Patty better watch out, she's next!

    Notes:

    • I do think I like Pinky better with her crazy LIE makeup and Macro Eyes. Next render!
    • These toons render very fast! The files are not large to download through DIM and they load up quickly in DAZ, Great job, 3D Universe!

I am still working on Star Wars '77. Harrison Ford & Mark Hamill only took a couple of tries to get a usableFaceGen geometry out of but Carrie Fisher has proven surprising difficult.

The other problem is that when I dial in the 'generic' set of Toon Generations 2 morphs it dials in a specific set of Toon Generations morphs and a lot of the 3 main Star Wars actors unique facial features are lost. However, I bought the extended add on morphs and also have the DAZ 3D face morph products so maybe i can dial the unique face features back in.

The last problem is they have a smile by default and that makes Harrison Ford's/Han Solo's characteristic frown difficult to dial in. Also I think I will leave the eyebrows off or use fibre mesh brows to match the typical DAZ Hair models I am using.
