Woo my internet got knocked out for three days, but I'm back!

At least it gave my time to do stuff without distraction. Look at this adorable girl! several custom morphs plus a bunch of dial spinning and then another bit of custom morphing (mostly to smooth out the creases that formed from all the dial spinning, its hard to get a chin that small) but I got the nose so buttony!

Surprisingly minimal postwork, honestly, pretty much just tonemapping and adding the sig.

As always larger view in my gallery

So it's tone mapping that got this character to look so good? Would Star 2.0 textures work on Genesis 3 regular characters?

Very nice Jcase, that's a great original look. Could you tell us a little about the morphs used?

    @j cade

Very interesting and stylised character. I particularly like the rendition of her skin. It suits perfectly. In my mind, it hints towards Betty Boop, except for the hair, of course.

@nonesuch photoshop filters > camera raw > noise reduction.  As you might guess from the name, also can clear up a good bit of grain. I abuse it so much. As for Star2.0's texures the only difficulty you might run into are the eyebrow textures, they can look a bit odd on non-Star figures.

@C3PO Betty Boop was definitely an influence, particularly in regards to the very low bouth and as near to a lack of chin as I could get.

@snowsultan the main base is my perpetually 75% done disneyesque morph (as seen below). One of these days I'll actually put my nose to the grindstone and finish it. A lot of the dialed tweaking is Dogz' 200 face morphs, they have a lot of general proportioning morphs wich are great for completly changing the general shape of the head.

There's also a bit of custom converted callie's body and a head morph based on decoco (pre-genesis original anime figure),

Kyoto Kid, one of the things I put together to hopefully encourage art gigs from RPGs was this self-made D&D 5e supplement I put up. Feel free to use/distribute...

Thanks, that's a nice looking morph. I would certainly buy any Disney-esque morphs for G3, including a Callie 7.

As I've met people both at university and military that have gotten booted for their D&D obsessions I was curious about your Balt.pdf document but it seems to be corrupt because it download at about maybe 1 - 5 MB big but when it is down downloading it's blank and has 0 of 0 pages.

Huh. Anyone else having that problem?

It must of been Windows 10, Edge, and some sort of memory management problem. I rebooted ad downloaded directly to disk & then opened and it looks fine. Nice document by the way.

    ...Bravo and thank you.

This is really nicely written and illustrated.  I've seen a portion of commercial source works and even rules that are not as well laid out which often also had subpar artwork.  The quality of this is definitely on par with the major game publishers.

...it failed to download on the first attempt but came through totally fine on the second try.  DL'd in seconds (of course I have one of those super fast Fibreoptic connections). Wonder it it might just not be due to traffic on Dropbox. On W7 and using FF as my default.

Awesome and thank you! I'm not a layout expert so I was a little nervous about that, but people have said it's good.

...I hope when my story is ready it looks as good. The only issue I have is Daz needs to stop coming out with new female figures for a while.  Now I'm messing around with turning Eva into my little pest of a teenager.

...and yes, it is an Iray test.

    Looks good!

I've been doing Iray as of late, too, since figuring out how to render and do other things on my main PC. Not quite as good as Reality/Lux and still a pain not being able to offload the render to another machine, but it is fast. What takes me 6 to 8 hours in Iray would take twenty-four in Reality/Lux.

G3 and its variations are pure awesome. Only complaint I have there is I sure would like to see a lot more G3M (and Roman stuff of course lol).

..thanks, I've been experimenting more with Josie7 for creating the younger characters for my story but she's a bit leggy  . Eva, while taller, tends to have slightly better proportons and is actually farily slender. The only difficult issue that needs a workaround is that she tends to have slightly more defined muscle tone than Josie has.  Did get a "petite" script from Fisty that I'll me playing arund with.

Yeah for these character proofs, Iray doesn't take long in CPU mode. For lighting, I use just Mec4D's ambient HDRI and a single photometric spot set to disc. The backdrop is a freebie if found called HorizonT which works well for "photoshoot" type pics.

Once I start adding scenery and such then the render time mushrooms.

Here's one of my namesake I did last night with scenery which took considerably longer (don't know exactly how long as for some reason the Daz log is blank, never seen that before).

    ----------

ETA re-rendered the scene as I forgot to change the lighting type on the dumpster which made it render with a glossy surface.  Render Process took a total of 1 hr 29 minutes to complete.

Nice. I want to buy the entire PC+ Old West collection.

There is a wild huckleberry up the hill that I want to find again and take a cutting from. It's on my mom's land but it's hard to find. It's the only one in this part of the country I know of. There are others but it's like stumbling across a wild orchid here, you can but it has to be the right season and time of year to recognize it; well for someone like at least.

...that used the old Wanted DOA set which I saved as a Genesis wearable preset (there is not M4 to G2F transfer)  Also used the hat and gloves from Outlaw for G2M.  The big nasty gun is a freebie Colt Anaconda I picked up up off of Turbosquid and retextured (the character uses a huge futuristic revolver which this comes the closest to in appearance). The Tin Cup is from Western Bric-a-Brac (rescaled and again retextured).

The Doc Holliday reference is accident as the character has a strong interest in the old west and Tombstone is one of her favourite "classic" films.

Actually re-rendering the scene as I forgot to change the lighting model on the dumpster (default plastic) which gave it a glossy surface.

After I graduated college for my 1st job I moved to Fort Worth, Texas and on Saturday evenings at the right entertainment joints the guys would show up in that 'almost' tuxedo but with cowboy boots, a cowboy belt buckle, and a cowboy hat - sans the duster coat though. The gals would show up in a less 'bell' shaped Southern Belle type dress, sort of like a prom dress in style and color choices (think pastels) but the bell part was for practical reason more leg clinging or droppy. It was pretty neat, most places in US is t-shirt and jeans or very nearly that.

...yeah I like to refer to her as the "Bushido Cowgirl" as in her backstory she also studied the art of sword fighting at a dojo in Kyoto Japan (where she takes her name from).  I still have not figured out how to rig having her wearing her Daisho set as well.

The clothing she wears is actually made with a futuristic type of ballistic weave and tailored to look "fashionable" (fairly expensive in the RPG setting she is from).

Well this image was just something I was playing with, trying some new things and I figured I would post it anyway.

The figure was a sculpted FBM I did for GF2 that I never got much use out of because GF3 came out right after and GF2 kinda got neglected. With Cayman Studios genesis 3 UVs for genesis 2, I was able to revisist some old genesis 2 figures I had done and use new IRAY shaders on them. I also wanted to try out some new HRDI files I got and play around with some zombies I had in my runtime.

I am temtpted to purchase one of the new zombie products so we can see what she will look like once that magazine in the pistol runs out of ammo, LOL.

Testing full translucency weight in Michael 7 HD, postwork in Gimp to add contrast. A bit too much, but it's interesting at least.

    Outstanding Rafmer!

What texture set did you use? I'd really like to know your shader settings too.

  • RafmerRafmer Posts: 564

    Thanks both for the comments!

I'm using the default Michael 7 textures; the most relevant change is using the diffuse overlay weight to compensate the excessive coloration of the translucency. I am using the SSS map on the overlay weight and the diffuse map on the overlay color; that helps to bring the details on the SSS map out.

  • Wow! @Rafmer that looks incredibly good!  I don't know if it's too much contrast or not, but I like your results!  :)
