Yeah that is an amazing render Angel, you should be very proud.  :)

Simple test from me of my usual character. I just applied a quick pose, so please forgive the roughness. Also used some painterly filters primarily to soften the background, so apologies for lack of detail. I wasn't really liking how this was coming out until I hit it with NIK tools and suddenly it became a lot more interesting. Don't let anyone dissuade you from doing postwork.  ;)

Rendered in Iray, one large scene light + indoor HDRI at .5 strength, lots of postwork.

That looks really cool. I wish I could get a black lady to render like that. They have a unique tone thats hard to mimic.

I usually dont dive into these types of threads... Cause I'm kinda shy about my art.:/

But I thought this one came out ok...

You shouldn't be shy.  She did turn out very well!  I love the lighting and the posing and the camera angle.  You did a great job on this one. :)

Agreed.  This is the sort of render art I love.  Ethereal and sweet!

It's V4 London skin. But I own blacksmith and I'm able to convert V4 skins to Genesis 3. Well worth the money if you ask me... I have 10x more V4 skins then I do G3. Without using the Legacy thing, which I didnt like at all. Not to mention all the other crazy things you can do with Blacksmith3D...  Anywhoo! hehe

Then I used a custom lighting set up and dropped a HDRI to give it a light peach ambiance. The character herself, the morph, is one of my own zbrush creations.

The freckles I added to the diffuse mats via photoshop. Then I sharpened them in photoshop post work to bring them more life after the render was finished.

...this is possibly the most "realistic" pic I have seen on this thread..

Sadly for myself it seems to require programmes I cannot afford.  I would love something like Zbrush to set up my own custom characters as even with morph resource content, there are limits that the base mesh still imposes. Unfortunately 800$ is more than a bit rich for my budget and the new pared down version Pixilogic released sounds more like a "pay for" demo.

Simply beautiful and full of innocent emotion! Has all it takes for a fine piece of art! My sincere appreciations!

Zbrush took me a few months to save for. I put $100.00 away each month for 7 months while I was learning Daz.

Thanks everyone. I think the render I'm most proud of was this one...

...on my fixed retirement income, it would take a couple years to put that much away. Even memory and GPU upgrades for my 4 year old system are major expenses.

All in all still one of, if not the best most realistic looking pics of a person I've seen come from Iray.

A character I had in mind for a time now. Quite happy with the overall result, but the expression should be more evil and angry. Guess I shouldn't rely on the texture shaded preview when dialing expressions.

Looks very good but I don't know how you make a still look more evil and angry. Maybe have NBC warning symbol reflecting sinisterly off his glasses.

Hehe, I just expected the furrowed brow to be more pronounced from what I dialed un expressions.

Very good model the Opus Magnum and very good render. I kind of expect Leonardo to pop in there any minute.

I'll chime in on that SAILBOAT action... I also gave in to temptation and bought it, though I really didn't need or want a sailboat, just because it looked good. :)  As I gathered supplies and did hurrican prep last week ahead of Matthew which drove by us here in NE Florida,  I set up and rendered... a peaceful, eye-candy cliche of better times on the open ocean before the power went out. Fortunately, other than being tree-d in by fallen trees across roads afterwards and going without power for about 9 hours, I lucked out.  :)  Click HERE to go to the gallery page to read the description & find out what items were used.

Caught between Sea and Sky by Gen Aris

@Ivy - you've sketched a good sense of a gusty day in your picture, with the boat heeled over a bit, her hair blowing, the sails curled and a choppy sea. Love the spray, foam bits!  Very Nice!  I'm also happy to have bought the boat!

@ Angel - Wings  -  both of your portraits were wonderful, but the first, wow... the skin tones were marvelous.  Beautiful work!

@Rafmer- I loved your library render... a great ambiance, so warm and lived-in and comfortably settled. Very nice mood/lighting.
