Wow! @Rafmer that looks incredibly good!  I don't know if it's too much contrast or not, but I like your results!  :)

Thank you! Glad you like it!

This started off as a quick render of the octopus. It was running in the background as I was doing other things and only checked it occasionally. I eventually got fed up with it and it ended up 43 hours and I stopped it at 97% :)

Added two items and a spotlight for the sun, just a tad over 15 hours :)

I love the octopus. It's an OLD model, but it renders very well and has great posing controls.

Here's another oldie I was reminded of from a different thread. Again, model is 12+ years old, but it looks pretty darn good.

...the detail on it looks really good.  Almost got the Biguana (who is rarely if ever on sale) but had to prioritise getting morphing and posing resources as well as Shader presets first. Still on sale during the PC "Ketchup" weekend so if I can juggle some funds I can still get him.  Been on my wishlist for ages.

    Octo and Medusa-Bronto look good

    Duet.

While I haven't found a satisfactory classic anime look, I find getting a manga feel is entirely possible.with Daz and something like Topaz filters.

Looks really nice, almost like a very nicely done pastel.

...indeed, looks like a storybook illustration

While a cool postwork image, it doesn't look Manga to me since that would imply Japanese influenced style and to me it looks more European or storybook. Still cool image though.

Thanks.  Yeah I can see, that, I was thinking of the color inserts that a lot of mangas will lead a chapter off with, plus you tend to see a lot more experimentation in art styles in manga.

*Actually thinking about it, it would be very interesting to see how Daz might develop if there was a Japanese version of the software with more Japanese PAs designing characters and accessories since we don't have anywhere close to the character types you might see in a small sample of anime and manga available in that country.  We can see what might have been if you go back to the "Made in Japan" bundle available for Aiko 3, but the PA doesn't seem to have produced anything in the store for any other generations.

One thing I found with my latest product it's was really hard to get transparency and emitter materials to working together.

Wow!  That looks nice.  Did you have to render it in separate passes?

    How did  you do it?

I find it easiest to embed an emissive surface into the glass (modelled thickness and thick glass preset) and then use a mask/opacity map on it.  Set the transmission color and light color the same and a tiny amount (less than 0.001) of SSS on the glass.

(Of course, looks best against a 'real' background and not the stark white of the forum/as a transparent png)

  • I used single side geometry but because it would crossover in some view you need to turn off Top Coat.

    Moar glass and caustics.

    Only postwork was some tonemapping.

I'm really proud of the shape of that stopper. I thought it would be hard to make, but It turned out super easy. Hardest part by far was getting that liquid to line up well, bit I did and it does

Wait, so you modeled this yourself? This looks great! Are you going to do anything with it, sell or give away as a freebie? I'm working on a graphic novel and one of the lead characters has a perfume line and this looks very similar to my mock perfume bottle that I put on the red carpet backdrop. I'd love to use it if you are giving it away or selling cheap... :)

One thing I love about Iray is the normal map render it just gives a better look than 3DL.

Plus the ground shadows make it easy to composite onto backgrounds !

Metals came out really well on this one !

  • @Midnight_stories  Love all those images.  That one with the holograms looks really nice! I really love the one with the long hallway with all of those reflections.  :)

@J_cade  Nicely done!  Great job with the modeling.  Just curious why you didn't play with the tone mapping inside Iray?  Lovely image!  :)

    @Wonderland  Very cute! :)

@DustRider I always love seeing what you come up with.  That looks really good! :)

@Mattymanx  Great perspective!  Your images always make me smile.  :)

@nelsonsmith  I love duet.  That is a nice effect you managed to get.  :)

Will (you really should do something with your username so the @ works!) Great job on the three headed thing!  He looks great! :)

@Fishtales  Love how the octopus turned out! :)

Sorry if I missed anyone!  Just been very busy here lately!  I'm finally up and rendering again so maybe I'll have something to contribute soon!
