    This is really a bad offer.

    Just Tested it out it really only works with (and applies to)  Todays new releases. And given that the Poser Only Status is not very obvious i predict the following:

    - Lots of disgruntled Customers

    - Customer Support is going to hate Marketing in the next couple of days.

    The weird thing is, these Movie sets are also on Rendo, and looking through the reviews over there, people say they work great in DS. So are these truly for Poser only, or are they just not tested in DS, and therefore not specifically stated to be compatible? I'm tempted to take a chance. The one thing I'm concerned about is it seems the roadway is not included with any of the sets, unless I'm missing it.

    Edit: Just checked on Rendo, the name of the product you need for the streets is called 81 City Blocks and its $30 just for that. How can you sell the city Blocks, without giving us an option to buy the roads, except for paying full price on another site?

    They're poser only as in "they don't have any DS materials or DS files" IMO. The models themselves should work fine in DS, but you'll have to adjust the materials yourself.

    The road set might be re-released here at some point.

    1. wait for a sale *grin* It includes roads, landscape, trees, skydomes, Low Poly Block 01 ... but not all materials will work in DazStudio. I think the puddles and winter snow thingies are Poser Material Room magic.

    The trouble is nothing is obvious with Daz.

    I still use DS 4.8 and yet everything on this site says its only compatible with DS 4.9, and yet everything I buy works great, go figure. So, the Daz descriptions are not the most trustworthy, no offense.

    Furthermore,  I've bought tons of stuff on other sites that say Poser only in big bold letters, and I buy them and they work great. Pretty much 90% of the stuff I've bought on Rendo is like that.

    Then to add to the confusion, I see these same Movie sets on Rendo, the descriptions over there says Poser only, not tested in DS. But the reviews by users over there say that it works great with DS.

    But all this is fine, I'm an idiot who can't see the obvious. My money is better spent elsewhere.

    At Rendo the vendors provide their own support, so when they're not "fluent" with DS they'll often market their sets as Poser only even if it could work fine in DS too, so that they don't have to test and support the product in DS.

    Maybe my expectations are off, but I often buy by Title Promo Images only.

    I expect on DAZ that the default case ist that things work in DS. If not (Bryce, Poser, Cararra Only) I would expect it in the Title (like "for Poser")

    I played around with Movie Set: Low Poly 1 in DAZ and Poser

    The good news - the cr2 mesh will load in DAZ Studio and the various surfaces are all listed in the tab

    The bad news - In DAZ the materials (maps) don't load into the surfaces at all so you are just left with an untextured set of buildings

    You could manually find and map the textures to each of the 34 surfaces but it would be a guessing game unless you had Poser to bounce over to see which map goes with each surface. Once you have the maps assigned you could probably give each surface the Uber Iray shader. 

    In Poser everything seemed to work okay except the model was so big the default Poser light set was inside the buildings

    Thanks for testing, its very much appreciated. Its ashame they just didn't wait and release an updated version for DS with everything mapped. Seems like they left a lot of money on the table for no apparent reason.

    Yes, I wouldn't take a chance now anyway, now that I know the Movie sets are no good for me. Thats all I was interested in. Hopefully there's another option to buy discounted gift cards soon.

    This is very helpful. Sounds like a real pain to retexture these sets. The only way I can look at today's sale in a positive light is that if you have around a hundred bucks to spend on a gift card ($116 for the Daz Studio compatible content) then you can get three of today's new releases free. There are a bunch of older DA products in fast grab too, so I assume the extra 20% would stack, though I think I've bought all I need from that pool of items in other sales.

    Don't base any buying decision just on my results. I read in another thread where some people have gotten good value from the Movie sets. The ones I have bought at Rendo in the past do work in DAZ Studio, but they aren't these low-rez models which for me anyway don't assign the materials.... my theory is the Poser shaders for these may have been upgraded to work with both firefly and superfly and maybe that broke their compatibility with DAZ Studio.

    Seriously though, there are some good deals in the Mega Fast Grab and one doesn't even need to buy a new release to take advantage of it. You have to pile in quite a few things to make it worth while to add in a new release just for the discount. :)

    Zero interest in any of the debut new releases; so I didn't buy a $300 gift card; I either buy 200 or 300. Good for me, as everything goes in wishlist. If it had included still new then I would probably have done it.

    I don't care how good the discount, if I have no use for for what I need to purchase, it is a waste.

    Hmm. Most of the RDNA stuff I would have got a the $4 price when they were introduced if I had wanted them.  Some of these items are better than that now, but most aren't (pretty hard to beat)

    I just hope that when the Lilithai and Qabbalah sets get imported from RDNA, there's some kind of announcement and they don't just get lost in the sea of RDNA items floating around.

    As to the special part of today, it makes sense.  20% off a gift card is a big discount.  Limiting access to that discount seems appropriate.

    I loaded one of the City Blocks (block 18 to be precise) I have from the 'other site' in Studio. There are a few error messages during loading (about wrong nodes), but the model loads fine otherwise.

    I've rendered it in Iray with the only adjustments to blindly apply the Iray Uber Base to all and to set the F-stop on the camera a bit higher as it was overexposed at standard setting. Comes out pretty well, I think, for a very quick render.

    All in all I'd say it's probably worth getting if you're on the fence about it even if you use Studio exclusively either as an environment for scenes or as quick background. YMMV though.

    Limiting it via requiring a big purchase (3 items) makes sense. Limiting that selection of 3 items to a pool of ...3 items... does not.

    I'm testing the cart- and the extra 20% isn't kicking in for any of the PC+ items. I put three of the Dreamland items in my cart. (which did drop to $5.98 each from 7.48 for just two.)  It doesn't say new PC+ is excluded, that I could find. Or am I missing it? HATE all these *, +, +++ etc. disclaimers scattered all over the page!

    When I tested earlier today NEW DO (did not test PC+) items did not get discounted, while older ones did. The sales pages does not indicate this, so either it's an error on the sales page or in the store.

    hahah I know that feeling (most months, anyway). THIS month however has been pretty good for my wallet. I've only spend money on two items this month and both where pretty discounted with the stacking discounts coupled with the PC+ coupons. I am, however, very much looking forward to the PC+ sale next month! :)
