I think Lindsey is just one of those names that gets spelled differently (and is gender interchangeable) - like mine ;). My name (Laurie) is typically a female name here in the States, but is a male name in the UK I believe (or at least a nickname for maybe Lawrence). I've also seen it spelled Lari and Lori. I've seen Lindsey AND Lindsay for both guys and gals as well :).

    Laurie

Kind of off-topic (for this thread, at least), but Lori ( my e-wife's name) doesn't sound the same as Laurie. Lori rhymes with story, while Laurie rhymes with sorry. I do hear a lot of people mix them up, though.

On topic, Sunny looks cute, but I haven't made up my mind about buying her yet. I do like a lot of the products in the pro bundle, so I may take the plunge.

What happened to the natural skin look?

I'm not sure what you mean. There are a lot of people in the world with darker skin - naturally. We get so many white characters every day, and almost all the "7" figures are white, it's good to see some diversity.

Come on, now.  You're jumping to entirely the wrong conclusion or interpretation...or something.

By natural skin look, I meant "not too smooth."  And I'll leave it at that, so I don't insult any of the character creators.

There was definitely no mention of lighter skin color in my post.

Wow.  My kid has dark skin, as did my first husband.  Cherokee blood.

I'm sorry, Jan - I jumped to the wrong conclusions. Someone had made comments about her skin being "too dark" and it got my haunches up. I wrongly though you where making a similar comment. Again, I'm sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion. :)

I have a strange suspicion that Lucien is Lilith's counterpart.

    Laurie

  • If Lucien is Lillith's counterpart he probably won't be what I'm specifically looking for but I always look forward to the official character releases anyway. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Edit: Does work with some items in the PA sale, but not with the Aiko face morphs (which are showing at 58% for no apparent reason.)

    Thouuughts?

I had the same results with the pro bundle and aiko morphs,  anyone know if its supposed to give the extra discounts cause I am getting no additional discount.  Sunny pro bundle is in  my cart at 56.68 and aiko morphs 10.17

I second that guess. Would make sense to me... hints of lucifer, lestat... perhaps of french-accented evenings of lust.

I think part of the 'super smooth' look is the very 'painted'/pencil look of the brows.   Could also be something with the bump/normal settings as there does seem to be a fair amount of 'detail' in the raw texture files.

Another thing, there may be something up with the materials preset, because the rendered skin seems to be a bit darker than what the raw texture files indicate it should.  Like she's got a good tan on top of the less fair skin tone.  I'm running a render with a very different skin setup and she's looking a lot less like she spends all day in a tanning bed.  Not super pale/extremely fair but no longer too dark...more in line with what the raw maps look like.

On the topic of her skin, it does look kind of wrong to me too. Like it's a mature character texturewise and yet young in shape? Sort of like a 20 year old that's been left in the sun for 40 years. Without moisturiser.

Mei Lin and Aiko have also looked considerably more mature than usual though so I wonder if it's an intentional thing.

On the topic of Gen 3 looking more generic than V4 characters, I wonder if that's to do with the low resolution nature of the base model, without HD morphs compensating. It doesn't seem like that'd be the case but I'm not sure why else older characters are so much more distinct. The textures are at a vastly higher standard baseline these days and most PA characters are advertised as HD sculpted, so it's not like things have really gone backwards.

I wish Thorne still made characters like Layla but for Genesis so they aren't trapped in the VA4 dinosaur incompatibility zone. There seem to be ever fewer of the actual fae characters and more just odd "this is a fae sorta" mostly teen mixed more realistic type things. Actually, come to think of it, all of my favourite G2F characters (Haiku, KaryannaJas [and of course Giselle 6]) are made by Thorne. In Gen 3 I've only really used Josie much though despite buying all of the others.

There have been speculation about Sunny 7 for a while, as there was a name slip a couple months ago, I believe - I was expecting Sunny 7 to be a guy.

In all honesty I don't see anything special about her (or at least not special enough to warrent her being an official "7" character).

Don't get me wrong, I think she's really cute! I just thought that the official numbered figures where supposed to fill a nitch that wasn't there. She just looks like a character you could get with some dial morphing. I mean, there is a reason for the higher prices of these figures, right? There has to be. $45 (base price) just seams kind of rediculous for a character that doesn't really give us anything new that other regular G3F characters don't. I think she's really cute, but I'm just not getting what is so special about her that it warrents charging $45 (again just base price) for?

Again, she's totally cute, just not seeing what the deal is with all the "7" figures that don't really give us anything really new or unique and slapping a $45 price tag on it.

I hope I'm just being all jaded and stuff. Maybe, hopefully, she'll grow on me and I'll see the need for her to be a special "7" figure.

Nearly next to nothing. Diva, you answered your own question. Maybe had some of the other characters not been released, but with the flood gates open on new numbered characters, it ups the expectations on ever release after the last. She's probably good for character collectors or those that dont get to purchase many. She'll sell like hot cakes, but in a week or two, maybe three, she will have been mostly forgotten. I'm saving my cash for Lilith 7 and the rest of the pa sale, as Im still waiting for 3 pa's that have not appeared yet. Hopefully Daz will do lilith some justice. :-)

Yeah, I have to admit I'm really looking forward to Lilith and Monique. The only "7" base figure I've gotten so far has been Victoria (and Star 2.0 - but I guess she's not REALLY a "7" figure lol). I'd for sure consider forking out the cash for Lilith and Monique though.

I think I'm on... 13 "7" figures now? But honestly 90% of the time I use base G3F, Star 2.0, Aiko, Josie, and Slosh's Keiko 6 morph. So that leaves a whole ton of characters that I bought because they were pretty or cool or "because they might come in handy" (and really they might one day!!) so I'm trying to take that as a sign to be more responsible with my money by spending it all on other crap that might come in handy one day instead.

I'm pretty sure Lucien is Lilith's counterpart and I expect a halloween or monster type theme.  I don't think Sunny will have a 'mate.'

my nephew's name is Lucien (my sister named him after a trip to France) so it is equally possible that he might be a counterpart  to Sunny (Sunny = Bright and Lucien = Light).

  • Wow... 3 hours and 26 minutes and my render is at 83%.  All it is is a totally stripped down Anderson Hall, AoA Advanced Ambient Light, 3 spotlights and Sunny.  Pretty standard 3Delight render.  Maybe it'll be done by the time I get up for work in the morning... hahaha

    Seriously.. wth??  frown

    Woot!  84%!!!

I have 11 - I think - female "7" figures....and 99% of the time I use Olympia 7. Which I find interesting as she was the one figure I hated on sight, and only bought cos i had birthday money and wanted something in her bundle. Then I rendered her and fell in love - hands down, my favourite 7 so far (.....until Monique 7 appears...)

That is unlikely given the history of Thorne character releases. Traditionally standalone Thorne figures do not have counterparts. I think we'll be seeing Lilith 7 next in October. But you never know.

I like the name though but it is rather over used in a lot in vampire romance fiction so to me that signals a Lilith counterpart.

That was my thought too. Lucian kind of screams stereotypical Vampire name and it's October.. (last Oct we got Arabella for PC+ Halloween) so Lilith+Lucian seems likely and Sunny having a partner seems unlikely though still possible.

Lilith and Lucien.......that is going to be a match made in heaven! :D

  • I'm just looking for a more slim build male, maybe something like a David compared to Michael. OK I have morphs but I always love the generation characters to build custom characters from. I find the closer the base mesh is to what I'm looking for the better it generally ends up looking. I get the feeling now that the Lillith/Lucian angle might be the right call. G2 Lillith was brilliant so I'm looking forward to seeing how G3 turns out.

I guess Lucien sounds similar to Lucifer, which is Latin for "light-bringer" and in ancient times was the name of the morning star (= the planet Venus) because it appears just before dawn (because Venus orbits closer to the sun than Earth). How this got warped into a nickname for the devil, I don't know....

After a series of excellent and really interesting Daz characters Sunny 7 looks quite disappointing, so I didn't buy her. I am waiting for Monique + Darius 7.

    From Wikipedia:

Lucien is a male given name of French origin, It is the French form of Luciano or Latin Lucianuspatronymic of Lucius.

Haven't done Sunny, but here's Lindsey.  I'm finding the mouth does pull a bit at the corners, I did use the pull the corners down morph but still getting a bit more pull than I'd like. I also shut her eyes a tad so the deer in the headlights look would go bye-bye.

I named mine the same! Cool!

Neither Jayden nor Brodie sold well in the last generation, so we won't be making them in Generation 7.  There are are some new and really, really different male characters coming up this year though.  I think Ivan and Lucian will really surprise you.

Aside from the correct spelling of his name, looking at this comment again and what Ivan turned out to be makes me super curious for him.

Not Judeo -- the dead King referred to as "Helel ben Shachar" (shining one, son of the morning) in Isaiah refers to a man who was once powerful but has fallen.  The passage about him "falling from heaven" is more akin to the Greek myths of Icarus and Phaethon, about a human overreaching rather than a fallen angel.  The association of the passage with Satan (who, in Judaic tradition, is a messenger of God like any other angel, an adversary to a man bent on an evil course rather than an adversary of God), isn't part of the Jewish tradition.

Sunny is lovely! She reminds me of that dark haired girl from That 70s Show, Mila Kunis.

I love the stuff in the Pro bundle. Lots of goodies there, which look very versatile. She's found her way into my cart!

Thanks for the clarification. Since it came from old testament I thought it was from both.
