I think she looks like Tween Julie 7 scaled bigger and with new textures, not necessarily adult textures. The nose, the eyes, the mouth....

You can't really say it's bad as you'd expect a child to still look like the same person once they are adults but it seems like it would be better to use the child model and morph it.  Certainly cheaper.

Josie 7.5 ,  lol.  I can see it.

Sunny and Josie are both Thorne girls.

Huh! I really liked Sunny. I interpreted her as a Spanish and/or Hispanic character, which I've noticed the lack of in the store. As for 'Sunny', = translation of Soleil. From the French, admittedly, but still.

I can't afford her right now-- I need more male models instead. But I'm really hoping for a good male counterpart to her.

I can't afford her, but I do keep looking.... we'll see. I love other Thorne characters so much. In fact, finding that out makes me even more interested....

Seems like Sunny is this Generation's Ysabeau, specifically a dancer. Granted we seemed to have covered that with Josie and her ballet stuff, but where Josie's main gig is being a Teen, Sunny seems to be more grown with a general approach to the genre.

Yeah, I got the spanish vibe too.  Looked at her and thought there is my next spanish rose.

  • She defintly has a bit of an exotic feel to her. Hispanic with just a touch of India comes to my mind. Agree with the 20s/college vibe. This may be the first new DAZ Original this month (noth counting PC+)  == $6 coupon. If you like the outfits, poses, and hair, then the Pro bundle is a pretty good deal.

I think she looks Filapino. I'd don't see a Spanish vibe until I see Spanish folk clothing. Now that would have had me wishlist that bundle.

Haven't done Sunny, but here's Lindsey.  I'm finding the mouth does pull a bit at the corners, I did use the pull the corners down morph but still getting a bit more pull than I'd like. I also shut her eyes a tad so the deer in the headlights look would go bye-bye.

I was thinking about getting one of the bundles, but after reading this thread, I'm not so sure anymore. :/ Apart from one of the outfits, she isn't really a model that stands out.

Plus, it's good to see a female with the right spelling of the name "Lindsey" (and not "Lindsay").

I'm mostly addressed by my nickname these days, I (sometimes) forget that I'm called Lindsey :p

My guess is that Sunny will not be getting a male counterpart, and this is likely to a single DAZ Original character month, as was the one when Izabella was released. Obviously DAZ feels there is no significant market for college guys.

Naturally I may be wrong, but in dual release months the first one normally arrives in the first week, not the second like Sunny.

Lindsey and Lindsay are two different names... similar in spelling; just like Charles and Charlie are two different names.

I think Lindsey is just one of those names that gets spelled differently (and is gender interchangeable) - like mine ;). My name (Laurie) is typically a female name here in the States, but is a male name in the UK I believe (or at least a nickname for maybe Lawrence). I've also seen it spelled Lari and Lori. I've seen Lindsey AND Lindsay for both guys and gals as well :).

I've always believed that "Lindsay" was the masculine spelling, and "Lindsey" was the feminine. Although I have seen the "say"  used on female personalised products in gift shops.

    Greetings,

As soon as I saw Sunny, I knew she was a Thorne character.  I also got a slight 'mixed hispanic' vibe.  I think she's adorable, and I really liked almost all the items in the Pro bundle, so it was an easy call for me.  Adding the 'First Date' textures dropped the total cost under the Pro Bundle by itself's price, which kinda rocked.  Also Thorne's stuff was on 'super-discount' (probably isn't anymore) because Thorne and Handspan Studios were both on sale, and so several of the items dual-credited (all of them?) were double-discounted.  Mind you I had everything I'd want except for a few morph packs, but those were an awesome deal...

    So...yeah.  I'm a happy camper. :)

She's lovely, and fits right in to the renders I typically do.

p.s. The Aerial Dancer outfit promos do a really nice job of showing the options, and that's a great outfit.

I DID like the Aerial Dancer outfit. Might pick that up at some point. I've just spent waaaaay too much money already this month ;).

She's very cute. I too knew from the moment I saw her that she was a Thorne character... and for the most part I have my Thorne-style bases plenty covered at this point. Thorne's characters are reliably consistent in every generation, so I don't feel a huge reason to make sure I have G3F editions, and they don't ever get HD morphs, because what would be the point, there's not definition detail to increase upon—the softness is part of their look.

That said, she's a very nice Thorne character, and I like the darker-toned skin and the details there... and it's a rare case where I really like almost everything in the bundle. So I might get her anyway! I passed over Izabella and this generation's Julie, but do have Josie 7. PS - lots of people mentioning Selena Gomez, which I see, but I sort of think she's even closer to Mila Kunis (at a similar age), and with her skin looking to me a bit more like "lots of time in the sun" vs. "hispanic", that seems to fit.

I don't think the figures fill niches quite that specifically - "Hollywood Greek Athletic Action" doesn't really strike me as a niche.

I'd break them down more like this (Build/Theme):

    Victoria 7/Michael 7:  Average/Everyday

    Eva 7: Tall/Everyday

    Karen 7: Athletic/Superhero

    Bethany 7: Voloptuous/Fantasy

    Arabella 7: Thin/Vampire

    Teen Josie 7: Average/Teen

    Olympia 7/Leo 7: Athletic/Greek

    Girl 7/Guy 7: Stylized/Toon

    Izabella 7: Average/Fantasy

    Mei Lin 7/Lee 7: Athletic/Asian

    Kalea 7/Kimo 7: Average/Islander

    Rune 7/Ivan 7: Athletic/Barbarian

    Aiko 7/Kenji 7: Average/Anime

    Tween Julie 7/Tween Ryan 7: Average/Young Teen

    Sunny 7: Average/Everyday

I'm basing the themes off of a combination of the products in each pro bundle and how the character is marketed.

Edited to reflect Eva 7 is actually taller than Victoria 7.

With those eyes, Josie is far from average; much prefer Sunny to some of the other characters; skin looks great from the promos.

I'm buying the pro bundle for two reasons; price is good, but not the main reason; the main reason is the default UVs. The higher price was always justified because of the new UV sets, but the character is at a reasonable discount so that evens it out some.

First time for ages I'll be able to use every item.

And once again we've a new character release where the base character readme page hasn't been set active . . . seems to be a recurring theme here.

Looks too much like Teen Josie 7 to me with darker skin.  They practically have the same freckles spots.  Sorry...no buy for me.  I do like the Sunny Hair for G3F by Kool though, so will get that.

Edited to read "Teen Josie 7" (not Izabella 7)

I wanted to like Izabella 7, as had default UVs too, but I returned as didn't; this one though, really like.

At the end of the day, you buy what you like.  There have been so many times I tell myself that I am no longer buying character morphs because I have too much already, but then a PA will come out with a new one that I totally dig and end up buying it.

Is it just me thinking that V4 had more individual traits in her morphs than these new generations?

You are correct. Nope, it's not you. Seems as though a lot of these characters look like Victoria's older and younger sisters, though there were a few with some variance.
I miss the variety that was V4.
    I fear for Lilith 7.

I wish they had put V4's head on G3's body. I never liked the way V4 bended and I don't like her fingers and nails but I love her face and the way it morphs. G3's body is obviously a lot better and waaaaay more morphable but the face just seems too low res or something. I have a ton of morphs but it's hard to get her to look really unique.

Also with V4, I could look at a character and almost know right away who created it, but now all the PA's characters look pretty similar. Not that it's their fault, I think it's just less malleable or something than V4. Especially the lips. It's really hard not to get the same pouffy looking lips. And if Thorne is creating some of these characters, they are not as "Thorny" as the old characters. I still melt when I see the adorable old A3, K4 and even V4 Thorne characters, but on G3, somehow it's not quite as cute... I'm still buying old Thorne stuff in the mega fast grab, but had no interest in Tween Julie.

And although the Iray render engine gives the illusion of photorealism, the characters' s faces just seem more vapid than V4's for some reason. I see some of the work the same PAs are doing sometimes still with V4 on other sites or their older work, and the characters just seem to pop more, like there's more personality, someone real behind the eyes.... V7 is the only character to me that looks like there's an actual personality there and just seems more lifelike. Maybe because expressions work better on her, not sure. There's just an empty, blank stare look to most G3 faces and the expressions mostly don't look real.

  • Been trying all day to do a render with her to post here but Daz simply will not render this scene!  I stopped the last try at the 2 hour mark and not a single pixel showed done.  The two tries before I stopped them at 1 1/2 hrs.  This is so weird.  It's not even a massive scene.  Grrrr....

What happened to the natural skin look?

I'm not sure what you mean. There are a lot of people in the world with darker skin - naturally. We get so many white characters every day, and almost all the "7" figures are white, it's good to see some diversity.

I wish the people making characters could at least change the mole/blemish arrangements on the arms and legs. The texture is very noticably the same on her legs. It defeats the purpose of realism.

One little problem...the spelling of the folders.

If one does a manual or even DIM install, on a case sensetive file system, the Daz 3D folder in the UV sets folder is Daz 3D and the V7 and others is DAZ 3D...so one or the other will end up coughing up a 'Not Found' error.

Sunny is one of the first sets I've bought without debating over.  She looks good and the 'signature' hair in the package is what made it an easy buy for me.  I've been looking for a similar hairstyle for G3F for a while now.

    What hair are you using?

If it's the Sunny hair, that could be part of the issue.  The texture files are pretty massive and 'preprocessing' for it seems to take a fair amount of time.  Early test renders I was doing the afternoon were 'bald' and she was rendering up quite quickly, but once the hair was added things slowed down...to the point it's about 15 mins or so unto first pixel.

Come on, now.  You're jumping to entirely the wrong conclusion or interpretation...or something.

By natural skin look, I meant "not too smooth."  And I'll leave it at that, so I don't insult any of the character creators.

There was definitely no mention of lighter skin color in my post.

Wow.  My kid has dark skin, as did my first husband.  Cherokee blood.

  • Love this character. Good call by Daz as usual and great job by whoever made her. If Lucien is a pair for this I hope his body shape can also be described as slim and athletic. He'll definitely fill a niche on the male side of things if that is the case.
