the UHD tv are saying 2160p, that's not really a big diff from 1920

But it's a big difference from "1080p" (double in fact).   Standard HD resolution is 1920 pixels wide by 1080 pixels high (ratio of 16/9).  The "p" indicates "progressive" (each line in order) scan instead of "interlaced" (all odd lines then all even lines or vice-versa) scan.    So a "2160p" video resolution at a 16/9 display ratio implies that the vertical height is 2160 pixels and the horizontal width is 3840 pixels.  Double the resolution of "1080p" both vertically and horizontially but 4 times the total number of pixels. smiley

There is also a 720p size which is of course less resolution than 1080p but it's probably more information than we want to get into now.angel

Unless, in my ignorance I've missed a technology that had 1920 pixel high images.  It's not impossible.  I'm an old bear and I hibernate for months or years and sometimes miss some intermediate technologies. sad

    Good morning, everybody. :-)

Afternoon. Just had lunch, which was "healthy" for a change (well, no chips anyway!)

Good decision.  Chips are grease and...something.  French fries are much better. :-)

Evening. Just back from seeing 'Suicide Squad'. :)

French fries are just American for chips surely? Never been seen in France, that's for sure!

It always seems to me that French fries are the ones they cut all skinny and chips (proper British chips) are the chunkier ones.    Which would mean that chips are healthier, as they wouldn't absorb so much of the cooking fat or oil.    For some reason I like my chips crinkle cut, they seem to taste better.

I do not like the skiny fries either.  The ones at work are a bit thicker than most.

Always get the skinny ones when I can, sooo crunchy :)

Looked at those 3D mice last night - Yoiks! I don't think I've ever paid moe than £10 for a mouse, those started at just under a ton and went up to £298! 300 quid for a mouse!!! I'd have to take out another mortgage!

We must be checking different places.  Those things have gone down in price.

And now they have wireless ones.  surprise

Bear in mind the pound has plummeted against pretty much everything, so imports are getting really expensive here. But looking around, the prices do seem to be much of a muchness. (store catalogue shot attached in case we're talking about something totally different)

The pound is worth what in American dollars?  I don't know the conversion rate.  But even if it's 2 dollars...wow, yes, those are expensive.

The pound hasn't been worth $2 since before the recession ($2.01 in 2007). It's currently worth $1.31 (which is up from its post-BREXIT low of $1.25 - a 2-week high apparently). Lowest value ever was $1.05 in 1985, & highest in "recent" years was $2.86 in 1957.

Also in the US -- I think -- prices are quoted before tax, whereas here tax (20%) is included in the price (ie what we see is what we pay).

Goodness.  I must've been using much earlier figures when I converted the pound to dollars.  That was years ago though, when I first started trying to teach adolescents to like history.

    I thought...5 dollars = 1 pound.  How silly of me. :-)

Can we tell yo' mama jokes in this here thread?  I seriously need to get happy.

Me too.  When I went traveled that direction I found the Pound to be about 5 Dollars and the Guilders in Amsterdam to be about $0.5 dollars.  It made head calculations easy.  Don't mind me, I'm just another old fogey with tales of the olden days.

PS: I don't remember what the German Marks were worth at the time but the reason why is in itself another story best told after a couple of drinks or tokes.

Does it have anything to do with the initial year -1950?  Maybe that's the year I used when I made the wrong calculations. surprise

Math has never made any sense at all to me.  Geometry, yes.  But straight up math, forget it.  Too many rules.

As for the German mark...just two?  I mean, seriously.  Two? :-)  I'm joking.

Geometry isn't math? Oh noes, looks like I got aone of those junk degrees somehow :)

Ah the photohop being  subcription based softwree now, I never moved on up from CS5 ince I didn't want to add another monthly payment thing to the list of stuff I needed to keep track of xD

None of the new stuff in future versions screamed "I need that" to me so I never cared.  All of the custom brushes I have work with my version, so I'm happy enough with the one I have.

I really like using the Oil brushes for shading,  after I've put down the flat colors I'll stick the usual Multiply/Overlay/etc layers over it for shading and then pick away at the masks with them.  Makes some nice results :>

Just love the colours you use :)

See, I can do geometry.  The lines, angles, intersections...if it is geometry, I understand it.  Well, hell, I guess I do understand some math, because of the 3D modeling.
