Looked at those 3D mice last night - Yoiks! I don't think I've ever paid moe than £10 for a mouse, those started at just under a ton and went up to £298! 300 quid for a mouse!!! I'd have to take out another mortgage!

They must've gone up in price.  I got mine two or three years ago.  I was really into modeling then though.  All fired up about my modeling hobby. :-)

And once you get used to using a 3D mouse, you can't stop.  Or I can't.  But I'm weird like that. :-)

I seem to recall there was some ruling that chips had to be made by cutting up real potatoes, and not by extruding reconstituted mush out of a nozzle (which is why certain big chain fast food joints have to call their reconstituted mush product 'fries')

That's a good description of American chips.  Reconstituted mush, fried to a crisp. :-)

There's nothing un-special about reconstituted mush fried to retain a stick like shape.  I actually prefer them to fried potato sticks which often had fried rot spots in them. At least with the reconstituted fried mush the rot is hidden.  However, that being said.  I rarely ever eat fried anything anymore.  But when I do have a hankering to eat with abandon, I head straight for the place that has the reconstituted mush sticks.

Have at 'em, man. smiley  That rot is a little hard to stomach, but if you like those things...I hope you thoroughly enjoy them. :-)

    Good morning, everybody. :-)

Afternoon. Just had lunch, which was "healthy" for a change (well, no chips anyway!)

Good decision.  Chips are grease and...something.  French fries are much better. :-)

Evening. Just back from seeing 'Suicide Squad'. :)

French fries are just American for chips surely? Never been seen in France, that's for sure!

It always seems to me that French fries are the ones they cut all skinny and chips (proper British chips) are the chunkier ones.    Which would mean that chips are healthier, as they wouldn't absorb so much of the cooking fat or oil.    For some reason I like my chips crinkle cut, they seem to taste better.

tastes better cuz salt collects in the crinkle

I do not like the skiny fries either.  The ones at work are a bit thicker than most.

I'm still on Photoshop CS2.  Had to get the special serial number when they took down the server for confirmation.  Had to reinstall it when I moved to Windows 7 Pro.  Didn't have to reinstall when I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro.  So far, so good for Win10.  Haven't done a hell of a lot since I upgraded, though.

Fries that are cut from raw potatoes tend to be the most greasy for some reason, even when deep fried at the right temperature.  This is why I don't like going to pubs here to eat as most do hand cut fires for which I need a wad of napkins (if not a bottle of industrial degreaser) for my hands.

Nobody here in the States seems to know how to make proper chips either.

Chips are an art form.   THere is nothing so great as a plate of proper home fried chips. if done well.

I never bothered with the thermometer bit.  Heat the chip pan up and test it by dipping a raw chip in to see if it sizzles well.   Then lower the basket of chips into the hot fat for a few minutes till the sizzle dies down, then lift it out to drain and reheat the oil or fat back to nice sizzle temperature and finish cooking the chips.    Not having the fat hot enough is what gives the greasy chips, hence why you reheat the fat.  Having it too hot can be dangerous, so you have to be an expert to judge the sizzle  (and do dry the chips of befiore plunging them into the hot fat., DO NOT wash and plunge)   The fat needs to be hot enough to seal the chips quickly, so they don't absorb too much.

Bear in mind the pound has plummeted against pretty much everything, so imports are getting really expensive here. But looking around, the prices do seem to be much of a muchness. (store catalogue shot attached in case we're talking about something totally different)

You keep saying things like this. PS is not a cloud service - it is now rental software, which is why I haven't upgraded, and as a result it does need to phone home occasionally to verify its status, but it is still a locally installed application which will save its files to the local  HD.

The pound is worth what in American dollars?  I don't know the conversion rate.  But even if it's 2 dollars...wow, yes, those are expensive.

Morning aches and pains. Aspirin helps but makes the bug noises in my head louder. Tinnitus sucks. That is my complaint.

I'm sorry.  I'd say "decongestant," but from what I read, tinnitus isn't the same as fluid in the ear.

Hope your day gets better.  smiley

Agreed +1.  I use my tinnitus as a gauge on whether I have a virus infection or not, or how tired I am.  Sick = volume up.   I've been taking one aspirin daily for years.
