@butterflyfish, @miladyderyni_173d399f47 and @memcneil70 thank you so much! Our dog is recovering. We put our bed on the floor so she wouldn't try to jump or climb. That worked out well. She slept with me like she usually does. The money part... it's annoying! And yes, thankfully, the year is more than half over.

    Great news!

I was playing with ai image generating.  Somehow with my prompts created this.  For some reason, it feels right.

I can vouch for Naproxen. Had that when I slipped a disc some years ago. Why people bother with illegal drugs is beyond me laugh

My little dog is doing quite well. She has her appetite, she wants to walk around outside, she's getting around quite well, she's not picking at her stitches, and she even got the zippies (zoomed et al) last night. Silly beagle! Mostly I think she knows the growth is gone and she's taking the win. laugh

Oh that is wonderful news to wake up too!

My cats had me up at 2am and the zoomies were absolutely part of my morning after I 'volunteered' fed them. Now I am able to sit at my computer in between giving belly rubs. At least I have coffee.

    Good news is good! Thanks!

Kitties are like that! 2am is too early for me. I'd need a lot of coffee! surprise

Kitten (well, he's about 13 months) gets all hungry at 4am and needs food. Then a snack at 6am, followed by a re-fuel at 10:30 and a snack at lunch . He also has mid afternoon tea at 3pm, supper at 6pm followed by an evening gorge at 9pm.

Did I mention he's a Maine Coon? It seems as if he eats at least his body weight every week.

    Regards,

    Richard

Cats are a sub-genre of hobbits and I will not be convinced otherwise.

@Torquinox - so happy to hear your pupper is doing well!

@butterflysfish - is your cat out of head-cone jail yet? That ought to be coming up soon, right?

COMPLAINT: STILL waiting for a refund on one of the duplicate orders from over 3 weeks ago when the store went all wonky. They refunded the small $15 order quickly enough, but the large one (over $60) still hasn't been refunded. I'm getting close to filing a dispute with MBNA.

    Hi, folks!

I hope everybody is having a good summer!

Picked a crop from my pepper plants last week, man oh man, they cooked up great in my cast iron pan!

Well...can't procrastinate here.  I need to go dig 7 holes for some new plants before it gets much over 90 F.  The frost last spring killed everything but for my roses and the few things planted right next to the house, so I've had my hands full.

Okay, keep cool!  We have at least another 8 weeks before we'll have any real chance for a cool down.

Thanks @SilverGirl! It's a relief. Still have to pay that bill, though.

Yes, she is. She managed to mess up her incision the next day, though. She exposed what I thought were stitches that they had forgotten to take out, but ended up being subcutaneous ones that were supposed to stay in. So we had to go back to the vet and get that sorted. They kind of glued her skin together over them. They said not to bother putting the cone back on after that, which, thank goodness. She really hated it. Anyway, everything seems to be healing up now, and her fur is starting to grow back in where they shaved it. Also, the insurance payment came through, which covered about $650 of the $800 for the surgery. So that was a relief. Thanks for asking. smiley

@butterflyfish glad your cat is doing well! Cone is awful! The vet glued up the skin. I had a cut once and the doctor did that for me. Better living with cyanoacrylates.

Thanks. She hates going in the car and cries all the way there and back, so it was an adventure. Out of the 3 total trips to the vet we had for the suspicious lump, she peed in the carrier once and threw up in it another time.

Oh poor baby. :( Vet trips are so scary for them, with no way to understand why unpleasant things are happening. In the early days of having our Maine Coon, we had to have him in to the vet a lot due to a nasty eye infection he picked up at the shelter. Poor thing got so scared he peed all over me once while I was putting him in the carrier. I felt horrible. Between that and the eye drops (one every 4 hours, one every 6), he must've thought we'd brought him home just to torture him. (Eventually things got much better for him, of course, and he was a doted upon darling until he crossed the Bridge a couple months after Teen Kiddo was born.)

Aw, that must have been rough getting the eye drops in. It's hard enough to give them medicine by mouth. I had one cat who used to spit all her medicine back out as soon as I gave it to her, be it pill, liquid, whatever. The only kind of medicine she could successfully take was the back of the neck kind. She was a stubborn Bombay. Sweetest thing, though. Pets are the best.

The weather has changed many times around here so maybe it is time to change the thread title. How about 'The Caring for Pets Complaint Thread"?

Pets must be family. Many people would only go out of our way that much and endure so much for family! Poor baby! Truly hope the worst is past!

Speaking of weather:  Tomorrow here will be 90F.  Even at 88F I can maintain tolerance downstairs until about late afternoon but when the downstair's indoor temperature gets to about 82, it's time to close the windows, turn on the A/C and luxuriate in the coolness until bedtime when the outside temp has fallen to the low 70s or high 60sF and the A/C goes off, and the bedroom window opens again.

Non-complaint:  No trips uptown planned this week, but it is payday week so, yay!smiley

Anticipatory non-complaint:  Symphony buddy has mentioned a joint trip for three to Erie, PA on Saturday to a mineral and gem show.  Wheee..., another opportunity to find a new carved semi-precious gemstone animal for my collection.yes  Unfortunately the trip hasn't been confirmed yet.  I've got my fingers crossed.indecision  Also, wheee..., a 60 mile road trip, time to catch up with Symphony Buddy, a meal out, another person to meet and talk to, a day in air-conditioning, and I get to drool over all the wonderful things I can't afford.  Pretty pretty rocks.heart  I call it my Rock Eye Candy or my Eye Rock Candy.   It could be a great day.yes

I do recall changing the thread title myself a... few times... and receiving negative feedback.

Actually that cat was just a gentle lovebug giant... he'd hide, but once we got him out, he just laid there and was miserable while we did it. I can't remember a single time he ever went on the offensive unless it was against the laser pointer. Even his little mousey toys, he'd carry them around but not attack. We had a frog in the house once... no idea how... but Mom found it because he was sitting there singing to the thing. In his later years he became diabetic, and when we'd come over with the insulin syringe he'd just hunker down and lower his head so we could do what we needed to. (He always got a brushing after, which he loved, so I think there was incentive.)

Hmm currently reading a something fantasy where a demon from the 7th level of Hel appears as a white cat, with a pink nose and blue eyes at will to the main character and her friends. Without knowing it, I had pegged my cats accurately.

I went to the day program I am forced to go to, but it was meh!  It felt poorly ran and totally disorganized.  I got over stimulated by the number of people and how hard it was to figure out what was going on.

Horror or lighter? It sounds an intersting premise if it isn't horror.

He was. Still is, really... every once in a while he lets us know that he's around, even if we can't hug him anymore.
