Not to mention, the number of promos they've been running where it's "hey, get this cool thing if you sign up!" with no love to those who have already subscribed...
TBH I got my yearly memberships at dirt cheap discount back before Premier was a thing. At that point I couldn't imagine a month going by without using both my coupons, so it was a slam dunk. Now? Nah. Once I wear out my subscription, I'm only signing up for a month here or there if sales really impress me.
Can somebody remind me what's the "no discounts" period after an item has been released and left the initial new release discount? And also whether it counts from the release date or some other date?
Not exactly. You didn't miss out on anything. What the ad means is that there are now 2 options that you can use your free character coupons on.
The ad is mainly promoting the (existing) free coupons that Premier members get, one of which is expiring "soon" - hence the last chance bit. It doesn't mean people who sign up today are getting two more free bundles beyond those, it's just prompting those who are havering to make a decision (to join).
It is either 60 days or two months to the day, which could be somewhere between 59 and 62, depending which months are involved.
Okay, so based on the "only 4 days left" in the sale copy today, this weekend is the last bit of the sale -- unless it's "surprise"-extended.
Uneven number of days. Maybe critters tomorrow, texture set Saturday, and Sunday is a catch-up for any that folk missed?
Thanks a lot! It looks like the item I'd like to get is out of that window already, so hopefully, it'll get a bit of an extra discount soon.
I really dislike when Daz does it: putting two bundles into new releases. It usually extremely limits buy-in choices when one isn't interested in either. This time, they one-upped themselves putting two bundles with the same theme. I know they don't have to cater to all the users all the time, but catering entirely only to a very specific group of users makes me think it's not the best marketing approach. Especially that we just had two bundles yesterday as well. I think variety means a bigger chance more users will find something for themselves and be enticed to buy.
But, on the other hand, there's other stuff, non-Daz, that I'd been hemming and hawing about buying, so I guess this is my sign to go and spend money elsewhere :D
On the brighter side, if the festival ends this week, we can then have some days of "surprise extension" and/or then move onto "pre-Black-Friday" deal, and then jump straight into Christmas, without any lull period in sales.
I went into today's sale with a plan to buy the accessories only and of course the freebie. I ended up putting the https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-cowgirl-rebel-beauty-outfit-bundle in my cart along with the freebie and https://www.daz3d.com/naturally-bending-aleda-hd-for-genesis-9-feminine, taking a chance on a PA I have never tried before, @NERDWORKS. While I am not a super fan of that style of clothing, I do accept that it is worn in certain cases, and bits and pieces of it more commonly. I will probably use jeans or a full skirt instead of the shorts on my characters. And @Censored, I am fully enjoying the items you took the time and effort to create for this promotion.
I looked over the items in https://www.daz3d.com/ap-wild-west-bundle and knew I had more realistic items I had bought from PC+ era and more recently by other PAs. Who puts a working fire on top of a wooden floor in a barn!? Yeah there was a grate, but hot ashes fall through and a fire will rip through that building. And the desert, a flat plane with a shader on it. I have lived in deserts and there are no absolute flat surfaces in reality, even the dry sea beds have ups and downs. Lived near or on two. I can make a desert with USC if I need one.
I was looking at the accessories, but then I noticed in the promo images that the necklace actually sticks away from the neck in the promo pictures, and it noped me out.
I looked at that too and thought the same: not great quality at the first sight, so I wasn't even interested in exploring.
The elevation may be a left over from the simulation that the render artist forgot to move down? I have down that also. Just did a render yesterday that as it was about 50% done, I realized I had failed to finish putting on the jewerly I had planned to. But I was too tired to bother since it was for my own needs and not to be seen by others.
Does Aleda have a separate skin material wiithout the tanlines?
Re: the extremely limited interest new offerings... sometimes I wonder if the strategy is to make people buy something they aren't actually interested in so that they can activate the other deals being advertised as amazing? I mean, personally it just makes me shrug and not look further, but maybe I'm in the minority...
Well yesterday I only took the freebie. Not every sale is interesting and not every item in a sale is either. I am an individual and there are a lot of individuals who shop in the store who have varied needs and interests. We can't all be satisfied everyday. And it gives my credit card a break.
Re skin materials, the PA has set up a Commerical Thread here, https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/748571/naturally-bending-aleda-hd-for-genesis-9-feminine-released#latest where you could ask this question directly.
That's a good question; all the promo images show the tan lines and I don't see anything in the description that mentions a separate skin material. I have two other characters from this PA and they're exceptionally well made. I'll buy the Aleda character today.
if you need horse 3 stuff, that $2.99 deal isn't bad at all. Only problem is trying to find something that can be used for a buy-in.
Yup. Same problem here. The ony item I'd consider has visible issues in promo pictures. I thought, "maybe?" and then I decided I probably don't need all that horse stuff anyway.
I have now downloaded Aleda and looked at her in D|S. No, the tanlines are default with no alternatives. One thing I missed was she is 8k, but she loads in at 187,214 vertices.
Edit to add after cat interruption: After render in another program, you could use a color picker option to fill in any visible lines if they are inappropriate for your render's period.
I rounded out my Horse 3 collection. So far, prior to today, I may have used H3 4 or 5 times. So did I waste my money? Probably, but when I hit my horse phase I have the tools
Not sure if its an error or what, but it says 5 items for 2.99, but I had 7 of them for 2.99 when I check out.
Does anyone know if the character/horse poses in this set can be mixed independently or if they only work paired, as shown in the promos?

The wagon seems to be modeled quite well, but the textures looks like those you see on 10-15 years old products, which seems a bit odd to me.
I thought the same. What I like was that it had harness and hitch for the horses. A lot of the wagons sold here do not have that at all, which I could never understand. I supose different textures could be applied.
Yes, more Wild West stuff, but still no decent cowboy for G9 masculine. I mean traditional cowboy, even modern. Not steampunk, not cyberpunk, not space cowboy (Lone Cowboy Outfit is too stylized; v-neck tshirt, tailored glossy leather clothes, no holster for that gun, etc.). I don't want to have autofit from G8 or even G3 every time.
Yes, the old harness & hitch problem. I wonder if 3djoji is still working on his bundle. The hitch for the wagon here is unfortunately of a type which won't work for most of those missing one, AFAICS.
I'm generally not a big fan of their clothing stuff either, but their characters (which I have several of) are generally really well done, and with a lot of "character", IMO. Some may be a bit too stylized but with such characters you can usually get some very realistic and interesting results by dialing down the head shape a bit.
I’ve noticed a pattern, this usually happens during major sales periods. I open the daily email, check the shop, and most of the time there’s nothing worthwhile for me. It’s mostly low priced items with pretty average promos that don’t exactly shout “made with passion.” That’s why I’m always keeping track of which Thursday it is, because those Thursdays usually bring high quality products released alongside DO characters.
Personally I appreciate recent work like Naturally Bending Aleda, FN Characters, Rose Gardens, DA Rotten, The Suburbs...
At the same time, I keep reading about people buying things that don’t appeal to me whatsoever, and I understand that I’m not the intended audience.
I'll be happy when this sale ends. I can't remember another sale when my store credit slowly climbed as it went on. Usually by week three it's "oh, sugar. I seem to have misplaced my credit".
Is this week 6 now? *yawn*
poke-thru like this in a promo (inner right thigh/groin) doesn't give me confidence in the product:

https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-cowgirl-rebel-beauty-outfit-for-genesis-9-feminine
Wasn't interested in the outfit but I bailed at the floating jewelry:

https://gcdn.daz3d.com/p/112832/i/mysticcharmjewelrysetforgenesis9feminine02daz3d.jpg
Which is surprising, because I own a few products by this PA, and they don't seem to have those issues.
I did grab the jewellery - it looks as if a dForm or MeshGrabber/Geometry Sculptor should make short work of the floating (and some adjustment would be needed for many pieces of clothing anyway)
