...well our "False Spring  #1" came to an end on Caturday (after a spectacular sunrise).  No more sunny 60°+ days for the next week and a half though the rain is much needed to build a snowpack in the mountains for the summer.

We have a small chance of rain or snow this coming week. Prayers to all gods are being sent to the heavens. I don't know if anyone else has seen the USA's nationwide drought map but it is not pretty right now.

Yeah, we've had a few good snowfalls, but usually by now we're measuring snow depth in double digits. Nope. Been too cold to properly snow. February and March sometimes we get absolutely nailed, though.

The year I was pregnant with Little Dude, I was due at the very end of February, but I was huge, so everyone thought I'd go early. There were several massive storms where everyone was nervous about the logistics of getting me to my hospital if he chose then to arrive. (Nope, he was over a week over, but very polite on timing otherwise... I had a beautiful sunrise to enjoy as my dad drove me in on his way to work. Oh my gosh that extra week, though... oof.)

Complaint:  Stomach distress:  Must'a bin sumpin' ah et.sad  Perhaps the ranch dressing?  First trouble was during the hour long drive home from the "Art Show", grumbling & gurgling stomach.  Slept fitfully, woke up early this morning, and before even coffee was made, needed a handy plastic wastebasket.  Felt better, made coffee, drank half of it then thirty minutes later, needed the basket again.frown  I've prepared some chicken noodle soup and ate an ounce or so of the broth.  Awaiting the results.  Not a good morning.no

Non-complaint:  Feeling better.  Not 100% yet but so far I've kept down a whole bowl of chicken noodle soup, including the noodles, and my morning pills.yes  Coffee and orange juice not attempted again, yet.  Toilet still not refilling is not making this fun.cheeky  So, now I'm carrying water to both humidifiers and the toilet tank, one liter at a time.frown  Furnace finally reached its limit.  Bless its little heart.  Outside temperature has hovered above and below 0(F), -17.8(C), for 36 hours.  Is currently 2(F).  no relief until tomorrow afternoon.  House hasn't been over 64(F) all morning. I'm staying quiet, snuggling under my granny blanket in my recliner chair watching TV.  Almost time for lunch, I'll probably just finish the can of soup and take a nap.  Gonna haf'ta git some caffeine into me soon, before I go into withdrawal headaches.

@LeatherGryphon about your bloody nose ,you might want to check in the baby aisle the next time you go shopping and look for a tube of lanolin breast cream ,I've found it to be a great deal of help ,since I've been on oxygen ,preventing dried out nostrils ,cracking and bleeding . I use a Qtip to smooth it up each nostril  before bed .Just a thought .

Thank you.  A year ago when I first had trouble, my otolaryngologist (I love that word) had advised a product called "Rhinase Nasal Gel", used the same way for the same purpose.  I found it squirreled away in my obscure medicinals box and have used it a couple of times.yes

Non-complaint:  I just caught the maintenance guy coming up from the cellar and discussed the water & heat situations.  Furnace needed a new air filter.  AOK now, temp is 70F.  Water pipes have been wrapped to insulate them.  Toilet is working again.  I've had a salad for lunch along with my coffee and orange juice, and kept it down.  I've had a bit of a nap.  Life back to normal.  Yay!smiley

My son was due in summer, in Utah. It was so hot. But my car had A/C for the drive to the hospital in the middle of the night. You are so lucky your father and family were there to support you.

Hello..., hello..., hello..., hell..., ...o...    It's 11:30 AM, am I the first one to thaw out today?indecision

Non-Complaint:  I woke this morning to a warm house after the maintenance guy fixed the furnace and water yesterday.  The pipes ran rusty for a brief moment afterwards but were OK the rest of the day ... UNTIL... this morning.

Complaint:  I went to draw coffee water and was surprised to see coffee colored water come out of the faucet for quite a while.surprise  And then it kept sputtering and spewing chips of rust into my sink making a peppered effect on the bottom.  I had to take out the faucet filter and clean it with a toothbrush to get the faucet to run fully again.frown  A quick check of the rest of the pipes & faucets seem to indicate that the problem lies in my cold water pipe, after my shower, after my bathroom sink, after the toilet, but before my kitchen sink, where the pipe runs across the coldest part of the basement wall.  I'd kept the sink cabinet open and cold water dripping all night but it must have at least partially frozen and scuffed up the rust layer in the pipe.  (*sigh*).  Had to get clean water for coffee from the bathroom sink.  Kitchen sink is still running slightly colored.sad  Yay, no washing dishes for a while.devil

Non-complaint:  Yay, the negative fever has broken.  The temperature on my porch is now 20(F), a relative heatwave.yes

Why do some people need to be so rude?

  • They don't need to be rude. They either want to be, or are too ignorant to know they are being rude. Either way, ignore, ignore, ignore. Regards, Richard.

Found this on Facebook. Probably posted by someone else who found it on facebook or the wilderness of the internet.

Why does telling myself not to touch my nose, make it more tempting to touch my nose?

Rude people. They were raised that way. Or they are entitled precious princes/princesses who think they don't have to be kind, gracious, or to treat others like they expect to be treated. Or they were brats as kids and let to get away with that.

Unfortunately, other folks take their crap. Family, clerks, other drivers, pedestrians, their dog or cat, everyone they think under their feet.

Or they just got cut off while driving and you were the first unfortunate soul to come across them afterwards, lost their job, their best friend, or got bad news.

Sometimes, just a little kindness helps if it was just a bad day. And then that kindness is often passed on.

I am ticked off by AT&T and their inability to secure their database from hacks. Again! And they didn't even have the courtesy of notifying me, it was my Malwarebytes email that alerted me to this. And when I went through the search, it was at least six times since 2019. And once for a sports company, that thankfully I never used my credit card on. And AT&T wonders why I will not give them direct access to my bank account to deduct my bill's charge or my credit card details.

And when I try to change my password, the site claims my existing password is bad. And you can't get to a human. So a visit to a AT&T store is in the future this morning. And I think I just found my trigger to change my carrier.

Ongoing water complaint:  My cold water continues to be iffy.  I've been boiling water before drinking or using it in food.  It's much better, but needs to be left running for several minutes before sporadic rust flakes stop appearing in the sink basin.  And accumulated water in a clear bottle has a light yellow/orangish tint and develops bubbles as it sits.frown  The faucet filter continues to collect a few flakes of rust so I mostly leave it off the faucet so that I don't have to continually clean the filter (it is, however, on when I draw water to be boiled).  Maintenance guy (i.e. apartment neighbor) says that the broken pipe was iron and not legal, which is why all the rust. (*sigh*).  I'm assuming he's replaced it with something legal, but I haven't had the opportunity to interrogate him yet.  I'm glad he know about these things and how to fix them.  I envy people with such practical knowlege and can manipulate matter, not just login and digital bits.

Non-complaint:  The freeze has broken.  Temperature on my porch is 43(F), snow is melting and sliding from the roof obscuring the access to the basement.  So, I hope all pipe repairs are done.indecision  Rain tonight, turning to snow again tomorrow all day.  I need a mini-adventure to the laundromat & grocery soon.  Trying to use up my eggs, so I made tray of deviled eggs with salad dressing, spicy mustard, sweet pickle relish, garnished with a green olive slice and Spanish paprika.  Mmmm... deviled eggs.yes  Trying to make food that doesn't require water.  I had a half can of Hormel chili for lunch,  I think tonight I'll have a toasted cheese sandwich.  But despite all these issues, the house is warm and the driveway is navigable.  Yay!smiley

I am at my day center's "talent" show.  It is a sensory nightmare.  Also talent has the same meaning as karaoke. Maybe it is more about beating stage fright than an actual talent show.

Pretty sure American Idol tryouts would have more talent than this.  At least there they are trying to prove talent of singing instead of karaoke skills.

I hope no one makes fun of me using my iPad.  I am like a border collie, I rather be active than sit in a room full of major sensory overload issues.

Complaint:  Ongoing problems with my nose.  About two times a week, I spring a leak despite determined control of humidity and other measures.  I think it's time to visit my otolaryangologist again, but I don't like his arrogant personality.  I need to look for a better one.  One who can fix the problem permanently, even if it involves surgery.indecision

Today I thought perhaps my blood pressure was causing the problem, although I'd had no other symptoms of high blood pressure recently(my ears ring loudly when it's high).  So, I grabbed my blood pressure cuff & monitor, bared my arm, cuffed up, and turned on Old Reliable.  Nothin', nada, zip, bupkiss.frown  Ah ha, says I, batteries.enlightened  However, brand new batteries fared no better.frown  All other attempts to establish electron activity in the machine failed too. (*sigh*)  There's another $70 gone.sad

Non-complaint:  Water in the kitchen sink seems to be good again.  Yay!

Complaint:  Unfortunately, rust in the cold water line has now clogged my bathroom sink, and the toilet refill mechanism, almost completely.angry  Neither one of which I'm equipped to resolve.sad  Bathroom sink faucet need to be replaced anyway, and the toilet mechanism should have been replaced 5 years ago.  That's the trouble with living in the same place for decades, it grows old with you.indecision  This sounds like a landlord problem to me.devil

It's currently 42 degrees out. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday it will be 50.

We could be going for a walk.

But no, there have been kidnappings on the trails we walk on, and the kidnappers have been hanging out at the recreation area halfway through our route.

Those trails have always been my safe space. When the ex- was being especially awful, I could take the kid(s) out, and for a while I could breathe more and worry less. On rough days with Little Dude, getting out for a walk had a 80%ish chance of helping him cope for at least the time we were out there, and I could relax and regroup a bit.

And now I don't dare risk it.

My mental state is currently in the bottom of a heavily used porta-potty at the end of a 90-degree day with high humidity.

We had a 13-year-old boy go missing after school here and my immediate worry was those 'kidnappers' snatched him. His family is frantic.

And I keep getting asked on my E-Check-ins about my mental health and if I am stressed or depressed.

@SilverGirl, the cockroaches/kidnappers will run to their cupboards soon enough. We just have to hang in there.

Thanks, you two. @memcneil70 I hope the boy is found safe and soon.

Saw a quote today... I don't know if it helped, exactly, but it's something to hang on to:

    Everything is on fire,
but everyone I love is doing beautiful things
and trying to make life worth living,
and I know I don't have to believe in everything,
    but I believe in that.

                                 -Nikita Gill

(I just wish everyone I love wasn't so exhausted.)

(ETA - LOL, Little Dude's Ms. Rachel doll just chirped from down the hall: "You are so loved!" "You can do hard things." Thanks for the vote of confidence, Ms. Rachel.)
