I don't think there is any time limit for returning duplicate purchases, at least not if they are caused by the store bug. That said, I'm not sure if it's even possible to buy something twice, except maybe if it is sold in two or more different products/bundles.
Sure is possible...just got a refund for a purchase I made the other day of a product I bought last year and forgot I owned. Not in any bundles either.
I'm not having that problem - could be only affects some browsers?
i have sometimes had the pages not properly display the already owned notice for prerequisite items, and reloading the page fixes that. Also checking the prerequisite item, the item shows purchased.
I'm writing challenged now, my phone is helping me. Sorry.
While it is annoying to not see something as purchased, there is still a difference between purchased and not purchased products on the product page: what you already own will have a download button instead of a wishlist button. And since it's just beside "add to cart" button, it's not too hard to spot the difference while shopping. I just got used to looking at it, because I don't believe they'll fix the issue. It's been there for months (years at this point?), and since it's not consisent across users, I would wager they can't even pinpoint what the issue is.
The download button is from Daz Deals AFAIK.
@richardandtracy: The other Richard (Haseltine) has solved that problem to me with the following question?:
After that my problem was solved, still feel grateful!
Didn't know that. Thanks.
Just looked and.. nope. It's an unreformed sale page, no download button, and the wishlist button remains a wishlist button, as shown.
Regards, Richard.
OK. I've seen people say that if you try, the Purchase button will just send you to your product library showing the product there. But maybe that's a Daz Deals feature?
Maybe it is different on a PC?
Gave it a try, and apparently that's normal behaviour (I'm not using DAZ Dealz) - first it said it couldn't add the product to my cart, next, after a few seconds it took me to the product in my library. It does seem to add the product to the cart however, if you click the Purchase button again immediately, before it redirects to the product library.
So I guess the problem is that it acts differently if you hit the bug and it shows the "Add to Cart" button even if you already own the product, and you then click it. Can't test that though as it only happens on rare occasions, at least for me.
I think I may have bought at least 2 things I already had too
Prompt refresh again this week! Nice selection of low-end stuff, though it looks like the people who like the higher-end offerings get skunked again.
Caveat Emptor! Buyer Beware!
In Quick Grab, the Ice Weapons (Game of Thrones) and Supra A90 (real car model?) have Editorial Licenses.
Nothing to see here for me, except the Ardamir Hair I will pick up later in the week after I reup membership.
I'll be picking up quite a few of the Quick Grab selections this week (though none of the ones with an Editorial License). Yes, the Supra A90 is a real car, and it includes the Toyota logo.
The Fleet Commander Texture Add On also has an editorial license, though the base product doesn't.
Similarly, the dForce Titan Clothing Set for Genesis 9 by itself does not have an editorial license, but its add on texture set does.
Just a heads-up for anyone who, like me, avoids these products in their entirety because I do commercial renders.
Fleet Commander add-on is Star Wars inspired. Note that several other EL Star Wars-esque add-ons are still in the store, unlike the Trek-ish EL add-ons for other SF items. (The base items are still sold, but the EL add-ons were discontinued.)
I don't recognize the Titan add-on.
Attack on Titan, as the name itself suggests.
Beginning to wonder why I shouldn't just hop on the fan art bandwagon. Seems like easy money and a lot easier than doing original work. Just sayin'.
The great thing about fan art is that you have a bunch of people with built-in interest, no matter what you're putting out.
The less great thing about fan art is that some of the fans can be absolutely vicious if you're not portraying their favorite character in whatever way they prefer to see them.
...borrowing from whoever created this...
Exactly.
I don't know about any of that. I just look at all the high end 3D people I see online and a bunch of them have fanart stuff. I look in the store here. Lots of fanart stuff for sale and it's shiny. So, this is the world. I should just join the club and get paid for it, and maybe also buy the stuff that amuses me.
You should absolutely buy what amuses you, if at all possible! Why else would you buy stuff in the first place? If it's not stuff you need for some reason I mean.
And if it will amuse you to do fanart, I'd say go for that as well. If you're only in it for the money, you'll probably have less fun. You'll definitely make the world a less creative place if you stop creating the original works you created before in exchange for fanart, and that would be a sad thing all around.
That's my take on the matter, since you put this out here.
@tsroemi it's always been one of those red lines for me 'cause obviously it's not my original creation. It's not lack of interest or anything like that.
I see other people having that fun and now I'm like, it's not my job to guard creative purity. Seems to me that ship sailed long ago.
So now, if I feel like modeling whatever I feel like modeling, why should I back away because the thing happened to be in a tv show or movie? And if it turns out well enough to be sold to other people, why not do that?
Other people have that fun and it seems to be fine for them.
I apologize if my earlier comment came off as discouraging... it was more meant to prevent unrealistic expectations about creating for the fan world, from the perspective of someone who's done it in the past. (Current lack of content creation is more due to lack of time/energy than anything else.)
Definitely agree with doing whatever makes you happy! (And hey, if it can make you money on the side, bonus!) Art is art. I've read a lot of fanfics that were far better than a lot of published work. Who cares that they didn't invent the characters themselves? Not me. And sometimes when I'm low on mental energy (read: most of the time) it's nice to not have to meet new people and learn an entirely new world. I already have a framework, so I can just enjoy the ride. If there are pictures that go with the story (or tell their own story)? BONUS!!
@SilverGirl Thanks! No, not discouraged. It's just not what I was thinking about when I posted. I'm not thinking about the fan world. I'm thinking about what I want to do. And thanks for your thoughts and kind words.
I hope whatever your 'want to do' turns out to be, it brings you joy. :)
