https://www.daz3d.com/writing-stuff-down--props-and-poses-for-genesis-9-and-8-female Again, no fountain pens (FP's) that I can see. Dreadful omission to dedicated FP user. There are left hand poses, which is good. As for the absence of male writing poses - somewhat unimpressed, but it goes with what I've found with my own freebies, I've never once been asked for male versions or male wearable presets. Males are comparatively rare in DS images, and images of intellectual pursuits are also rare. This makes the probability of wanting an image of a male doing 'thinking stuff' as opposed to 'grunt stuff' vanishingly small. Shame , but a recognition of reality as it is compared to what we'd prefer. Regards, Richard

I've pretty much given up on ever being able to do much with G9 males, as the vast majority of pose packs really only seem to be designed for the female form, while the G9 males themselves tend to take on more femine body shapes at times, especially around the hips.  Isn't ironic how so many people thought that having a unisex base would encourage more male products to be developed and the exact opposite seems to be the actual result?

Not enough clothes and poses for G9 male, that is correct, but I disagree on the body shapes.
In fact female G9 body shapes look horrible on almost every character. They are either super stylized or look like inflatable dolls from shops for "special" needs, which look extra weird when having super realistic heads.
Please, when shaping and posing G9 femine, put more effort in posing her shoulders. After all, we are not in space, on earth we still have one G gravity, that also affects the shoulders.
On the other hand G9 looks all male to me right by default. Male G9 characters are mostly idealized, but still realistic.
So not really complaining on G9 male, except for the lack of clothes and poses compared to G9 femine.

The posing issue for males existed long before G9. Who walks like Michael 7 does?

Anyone with an inner ear infection affecting their balance, and very unfortunate spinal condition. Someones made a nice job of polishing his pants for him though.

I have a spine that is collapsing down into my lower left quadrant and I can say when I am tired and in high pain, my walk is more 'sunk into by hips, and then a curve to the right'. When I was out demostrating Saturday, I had my right hiking stick to prop me up for the hour+ I was out there. And by the time I was home my pain level was pretty darn high. Same at in October. Of course I am female and maybe men lean differently? Or unfortunately there are a host of different locations for a spine to be damaged.

Michael 7's walk makes me think of a model's walk down a runway. Not one you would walk anywhere you need to keep an eye out for problems that might kill you.

I came here to celebrate and moan over the absolute number of lovely items. For fun I have put 10 of them in my cart, with 8 tokens, they come to $64.69. Now I will let it sit while I cool off and let my brain consider my budget. Gift card is expired yesterday.

Hint DAZ, need a fantastic gift card sale.

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 5,711

No control, none, nada, nope. I added three more items to my cart and bought it all. But I earned +14 tokens! Just noticed that. Add that to the one I still had left.

Of course the extra sale coupon came through AFTER I processed my order.

Someone said in the reporting thread that there was a hidden 15% discount for a while who was remove and replaced by the orange coupon. Maybe you benefited from that hidden discount.

The DIM banner was wrong, but I believe the actual discounts were correct.

It said 10% earlier today on the website. It changed in the afternoon at some point.

I was speaking about the discount being applied without the coupon before it was fixed around the time the coupon was introduced: someone said it was the case on the reporting thread when someone was surprised by their cart being costlier than it was a couple of hours before.

https://www.daz3d.com/elderstone-well is really beautiful, but I am out for a month.

I again bought a number of great items today, but one hit me hard. https://www.daz3d.com/ht-easter-furry-bunny-rigged-with-poses-for-genesis-9--hanako-9

My son, when he was in 4th grade almost died from a partially formed kidney no one had twigged on and he ended up in hospital for almost all of February 1987 for surgery and to fight the infection. Because of this, he was put in a 'no man's land' away from pediatrics and adults. I bought him a soft, squeezable bunny that was for Easter and he slept with her when I had to go back across England to home each night. The nursing sisters dressed her up in a baby's gown and mask, and she became 'Nurse Rachel'. He still has her and when his baby daughter was in hospital, she was there to care for her too.

While this was a realistic bunny, the Hate94Neu bunny touched me with the same feeling. Thank you for this lovely reminder.

I just wonder whether the winch works, so we can raise or lower the bucket. Doesn't look like it from the images nor the file list, but those don't always tell everything about the products.

the rope would need to unwind

a straight unwound one could maybe be wound up using dforce if the handle turned along with whole winch and was attached

probably not impossible using the geometry editor and a different rope

In theory, this would be possible to rig with controllers (having a controller with keyed links that progressively applied a "wound" position to each bone in the chain in turn), although it would be tricky and I would be surprised to see anyone actually do that set-up.

This is true, but when using "universal" G9 poses with G9M. I often see the male versions' hips assume poses that aren't really possible with a male's narrower hips and fixxed coccyx.  Interestingly, it's usually less of a problem when using poses made specifically for G8M or other male figures with a converter, which I assume is because those poses were made with only a male figure in mind to begin with rather than a "one pose fits all."

I think it would be highly unlikely for a PA to put in the amount of time and effort modeling and rigging something like that up and then NOT calling attention to it in either the text or promotional images.

I think it depends on the PA ultimately. There are specifically masculine G9 assets in the shop (and other shops). But, even something specifically for G3M, in my example, can be less than great.

I love this story (well, obviously not the part about your son's and grandchild's hospitalizations). Thank you for sharing.

Well, Andrew the shooting star is a mess.
    https://www.daz3d.com/andrew-for-genesis-9

His actor icon says "Adrian" and his name in the Scene tab is also "Adrian". Adrian is an entirely different shooting star character.
    https://www.daz3d.com/adrian-for-genesis-9

EDIT: Turns out there's a reason why Andrew the shooting star is a bit of a mess. He has NO parameter sliders of his own. He's a shape built on Adrian the shooting star.

EDIT 2: In fact, it appears that Andrew overwrites Adrian in a very strange way. Adrian's parameters completely disappear from his own shape, and he turns into default G9.

Ticket has been submitted. Given normal Daz response to technical support requests ... well. It'll be a while, I expect.

Also, the parameters sliders for Anthony the shooting star crash into AlFan's Anthony parameters, if you happen to have both and have "Consolidate Parameters" on.
    https://www.daz3d.com/anthony-for-genesis-9
    https://www.daz3d.com/anthony-hd-for-genesis-9

Heaven only knows what happens if you have Mousso's Anthony as well as Pendragon's Anthony, all G9s -- I think Pendragon usually puts "PN" in front of their character names, but Mousso has been inconsistent.

None of it all that hard to deal with, but that combined with the other errors we've seen make it look like this part of the promotion wasn't planned, and didn't get enough quality control work.

I really like this dress from today's new releases: https://www.daz3d.com/mbm-dforce-breezy-spring-dress-for-genesis-9

I'd actually love a real one for myself wink

This one has a nice old-school Indiana Jones vibe to it. Looking forward to pairing it with some of my ancient Egypt stuff.

Contrary to what movies might have you believe, a large portion of the world's archeologists are not from the U.S., and therefore have access to much better beers than Coors (though young Brits and Irish seem to like it), while Rotel is only sold in the U.S. and Canada.  As a noted Australian once noted, American beers are like urinating in a canoe, ie:"pissin close to water."

I've often heard American beers are weaker compared to our Australian beers and others

As a U.S. military who as a 18yo in DC who was able to drink alcohol legally in Maryland or Virginia in 1970, Coors was a frequent drink. I then was stationed in Germany and well, I never looked at a U.S. beer again. Large scale American beer pretty much sucks. Craft beer I have not tried. Now I don't drink alcohol but I do cook with it. And I do use craft ale in the slow cooker with pork and beef.
