bam! I'll take one, thank you.
You are really rolling 'em, Serene Night! Wonderful image -again! The tones in his face, eyes etc all seem just right to me, and the short hair even looks damp/wet still. Also your experiment with chest hair is hitting a good mark too: its fine enough to look a bit fuzzy/furry rather than like steel wool as it can appear sometimes, so thick and overstated.
OMG- great minds DO think alike :0) I was debating about buying those Oh My Brows just yesterday... seeing them now in the wild--you deployed them perfectly here-- I can say they're chewing through more of my wallet soon! Painted-on eyebrows on the guys bugs me, because they never are at the same level of focus as the geometry in the image but in real life, eyebrows, hair and eyelashes are at the same level of sharpness when we look at people. Plus real eyebrows (on guys especially) stand out from the surface and this shows when the face is at any angle other than straight on. Okay, mini-rant against painted eyebrows over! :)

I liked the brows, once I figured out you can morph them quite nicely. You can also 'pull them back' so that they aren't really too groucho marx. Some expressions did deform the brows a bit I found. But overall, I think they are a cheap and good investment. Will be interesitng to try on a texture without brows to see how that looks. =-)
The chesthair I believe is also by Redz. It came with one of the figure packs sold on rendo. I think they are 5 bucks now. Or were. I believe it's Kane's or Ayo's. Recolored with OOT's shaders.
Glad y'all liked it. =-)
More experiments with WTZ shaders. In this one, I applied only Michael 6 HD (mainly as a test of how good the HD is). My conclusion is that it's ok, but the skin could really use more detail (maybe some vascularity or slight aging morphs to give it more character).
I should redo it with more HD and see how it comes out.
Add maybe some pores as well. On my PC the skin looks a little bit too shiny and too smooth.
Part of it is lack of HD morphs, I think... does this skin still look too smooth?
Yes.
It needs more than morphs, a good bump or normal map... or some sort of procedural bump. I mean.. the fact that that is all procedural right now is amazing. But it needs more.
It has procedural bump, but I guess I need to increase it. Previous stuff had ended up too high. Just a matter of dialing in to the best values. ;)
It'll always be possible to add maps (translucency, bump, normal) with this stuff, just want to see how far I can push it without.
I like your image @Timbales. What hair did you use? What shirt? You used GenX to move morphs from M4 to Genesis 3?
I also liked your last two figures, @Serene Night. Is the first one just genesis3 with a texture applied. Or you dialed in some morphs?
Oh, and @timmins.williams, I think your skin looks pretty good.
Thanks. =-) Morphs are dialed in to make the characters look different. Owen has fuller lips for example as I tend to like fuller lips. I mix various characters as well.
Upped the skin about 3x... much better, I think.
(Once I get the skin dialed in a little better, will pose something a little more interesting. Heh)
Not the most amazing of things, but really wanted to try out the morphing business suit I just got.
Man. Trying to layer several items of clothing without pokethrough or unusual distortion is such a PITA.
The name comes from design... this is mostly Doctor Shadow + Alfred HD (plus various morphs -- I find a lot of the black models still have very straight, narrow noses)
Sometimes "test renders" can turn out better than when you really mean it! I can't fault anything in this, and his face is just makes me want to lie down in a darkened room
Nice bit of translucency in the ear too.
Speaking of test renders, this is one I did for two reasons. One, I've been having a go with the Blacksmith3D texture transformer (this is G2M "Colin" on G3M) and the latest UHT hair shader product. I have to say I love fiddling about with these conversion products!
I called the character Lincoln because it contains an anagram of Colin, plus I heard it's one of the latest trendy boy's names!
Great skin! Very nice render! "Lincoln because it contains an anagram of Colin" - That's how I name my characters too. Like if I create a character dialed with two or three different characters I'll name it with an anagram of those characters names. :)
I'm going to have to check out Colin, that skin is fantastic! :)
That's where Zev's Fit Control comes in... I literally can NOT work without it anymore these days. :)
That's amazing for being procedural only. But to my eyes, it just kind of looks like he has little dots on his skin... I just don't think you'll be able to get him fully realistic without also using maps. But what you've managed so far with only the procedurals is still way out there. :)
I don't think procedural can be as good as a good map up close. Just seeing how far I can push it. ;)
However, it does give you room to play. For example, you could put in maps in the translucency and combine effects (I should demonstrate that), or bump maps, or similar.
Where it really helps are weird edge cases, like 'I want to put a consistent skin across geografts and body, but the options I have don't work/I'm mixing completely different sets.'
I should also demonstrate that...
It's bloody cold and I'm nowhere near the coast. So, let's just pretend...
@Butch I love the reflections in the glasses! Very nice! His skin looks a little red, but then it sort fits with the beach. Maybe too much time in the sun? :) The mustache looks great close up. While I love DOF, both using it and seeing what others do with it, I have to say I'm a little bummed that I can't get an in focus look at the, um, bum in the background. It looks deliciously male. Please don't break my bubble and tell me that's a girl, either! I would say that maybe you need to visit me since temps are in the low 90s (33 C for those of you who insist on following the masses using metric), but I think you have a cooler group of friends than I do and other than the fantastic beaches, I don't think you'd have as much here as I would in your neck of the woods! ;) Really nice render!
Hiro! I love what you did. That skin looks so nice. I love freckles. I don't think I've done anything near as well with that skin. Nice render!
So, I posted this in another thread, but I forgot to post it here. This is Keoki. I created him with the Randomizer using Kimo 7 as the base and adding in Real World morphs, Musculature HD morphs, and Shape Shift morphs. I got some great guys in the mix, this one ended up being my favorite. I looked up Hawaiian names to figure out what to call him and liked Keoki. Turns out it is the Hawaiian equivalent to George, according to the internet, anyway. I didn't know that until after I had decided to use the name. I used Kimo 7's skin and I have to say I love that skin. He's not exactly sexy, but I think he's a big teddy bear with a big heart. What do you think?
Aw thanks for the nice comments. =-)
Very cool image, and I like that he is scoping the guy out in the reflection! Nice work!
What a great original character! I love him! :) He could cos-play Maui from the new Disney movie Moana.
@divamakeup Thanks. I really like how he turned out. He's definitely slated to get a proper render with him done up with him very soon. I was wondering what he would look like in a grass skirt on a beach with tiki torches. I had to look up that movie. I hadn't seen any trailers for that yet! That looks like a fun movie! And, yeah, I think my Keoki could totally cos-play him!
I'm totally picturing him with a grass skirt in my head! This has to happen! Please tell me it's going to happen!? lol :D
Oh, it's definitely going to happen! :)
Yay! I'm very much looking forward to it! :D I'm definitely a fan of your Keoki!
My new character Darneil. I bet this is how the poor Michael feels in the DAZ store, surrounded by Victoria's and their skimwear.
He looks like an interesting character! Nice image. I really like what you did with the DOF, too.
