Cool stuff everyone from my latest batch http://fav.me/daohsga
After taking a look at DAZ documentation, I have tweaked my skin shader. I switched to specular/glossiness instead of metallic/roughness. The reason: Documentation stated that glossy layered weight is maped with specular maps when converting legacy materials, if not, it's better left at default. Reflectivity is also recommended to be left at default 0.5; so the only relevant property (and is stated that way in documentaion too) is glossy roughness for met/rough and glossiness for spec/glossy. Taking into account that most PA provide only specular maps for glossiness and not roughness, I have switched to spec/glossy to make use of those maps in the property they are planned to be used.
What do you think about it? Did I understand it wrong? Anyway, here are two samples of Victoria 7 materials with those changes in the glossy system. Eyes are from Finley. Lighting is the default HDRi rotated 40º.
They look good without the excessive oily look that one usually has to resort to.
Somewhat recovered from my patch of burn-out. Here's Marius using NGS Anagenesis.
And another Anagenesis thing...
Playing with translucency, this time with Victoria 7. Again, it is a bit too much but it is interesting to discover all that is hidden in the maps provided. Speaking of which, that Hongyu bikini is a work of art now that I look at it up close.
Edit: Default HDRi lighting rotated 40º, no postwork.
After a brief burn out hiatus, I vowed to take more time with each render, be more satisfied.
This uses Cayman with a lot of shader magic (I ended up borrowing the micropore stuff from NGS Anagenesis, though this isn't the Anagenesis shader)

Really good. Enter it in the #VR contest.
Thank you.
It has nothing to do with VR sadly so...
Hang VR Lenses on her finger.
Sure it does. That could be a character in a VR/AR scene and the angle and the background used in the render emphasizes the 3D VR nature of the model. It's just not all partial transparency and nerdy heatsets that make something VR. Of course, I have no ideal what the expectations of the VR judges are in that respect.
Lots of great images here! I love watching the thread even when I'm not doing a lot of Iray renders. Believe it or not, I've actually been spending a lot of time exploring and working with 3DL. I think I might be finally getting my head wrapped around it, but I still love Iray best. I did do one Iray image last night, but I can't post it here. So, anyone who doesn't mind nudity can go see it on here on my DA page.
Just can't get enough of big golem.
For those playing with it, I think it works better if you set the displacement subd to 0 and the model subd to 3.
Evidently glass becoming a thing for me.
Another test. I still need to tweak the modeling; getting the bubbles the right size and within the glass is hard
Also look at that nifty absorption only happening in part of the mesh! I feel very clever with that (like the bubbles its mesh based)
That is a thing of beauty
Here is an entry I did for the #VR contest. I had to stop the render at 3% because my driver driver was threatening to crash. At any rate artistically I'm happy with it and certainly saved the scene because I want to improve the 'ghostly' representation of the dragons and the hearts and also edge the scene closer to dusk or in someway improve the 'sunset' aspect of the sky. I am very happy with the Aiko 7 + Ruby (Girl 7) dialed in as it gave the character a very nice Oriental anime look which I wasn't expecting. I thought I would have to use FaceGen to randomly generate an Oriental featured face and dial anime into that in DAZ Studio.
Oh, another thing is after trying to get that kimono to behave I realized I eventually need to fork out the money for that VWD Cloth & Hair & the extra plugins. I could not get those sleeves and that kimono lapel correctly situated.
Even though the contest is over, thank you for your encouragement.
Yes, it's a nice image you made. Too bad you cannot enter it into 'It's Raining Woman' contest.
Where is that contest? I cannot find it in the forums.
There isn't a 'It's Raining Women' contest but it would be nice if they started one. Maybe they can add a co-category for the 'It's Raining Men' contest. That would make sense and has also a category for repurposed men's model items used as a women's model items.

And completely miss the original intent of the original "It's Raining Men" contest. That contest was run last year to prove a point, and it did it well, which has been rpoved by the year long msle render thread and a 2nd iteration of the Raining Men contest, this time run by Foum Memebers themselves.
Part of the point of the It's Raining Men thing is to counterbalance the overwhelming deluge of female-focused renders and content.
There really isn't a need for it because, you know, every day is 'sexy pinup gals' day.
Now, if there was a more focused thing, like 'women at work' or 'alien women' or 'women building tiny owls' or something, then great.
And hey, here's yet another young woman staring vaguely off into space. (Test of Anagenessis)

Thanks for the clairity Cho. Never bothered with the man contest and quite frankly, yes, it is raining women around here everyday!

I know DAZ & the PA constantly have women in their ad copy and the amateur galleries too but that is the market and the contest didn't change that but the rise of gaming changed those sales figures. I still like the ideal of a It's Raining Women. It's not about proving a point but just have a fun parallel to the It's Raining Men contest maybe on a 6 month offset, so June & July. I'm not going to sulk if that doesn't happen though, it's just a suggestion for a bit more fun. I'd like to see the contest scene files uploaded as part of the contests in the gallery for noobs and the wandering, forgetful minds that frequent the gallery and forums to learn with good examples they like.
Inspired by recent purchases, this uses Cthulhu Rising (duh), Bathysphere (which I've had for a while), and Ron's Light and Shadow, and Anagenessis (on Cthulhu)
I should PROBABLY have bloomed/blurred everything in the image to look properly underwater, but I didn't want to lose all that detail. ;)
More use of recent stuff (figure + Anagenessis)
Just goofing around with Teen Princess Leila, probably one of the nicest figures I've purchased this year. Ribbits really needs a G3 upgrade, hopefully one with more frog-like back feet. Btw how does anybody get clothes to fit on this guy? Nothing I do can make anything work on him.
