Okay, so sharing an image.  It's not great, but it's my first Iray render with DS installed in Linux which I just got working last night.  Just downloaded and installed a few things to test out Iray.  Ipo, multiplane cyclorama and a sunset HDRI.  I'll have to work on installing more content while I work on some slight performance issues with the screen draw.  Right now, I'm only manually downloading and installing stuff as I don't have CMS or Connect up and running yet.  It's a good thing I don't use Smart Content as that isn't working either.

I'd mistake this for a photoshopped photo if you had posted it elsewhere.

Gee, thanks! I'll take that compliment any day!  :)

Rafmer - Fantastic image.  Great job on this one.  Flaming arrow would be cool as well.  :)

Thank you very much! It could have been worth trying if only to make it more original. :)

I tried my luck with the ever original render of an archer about to shoot an arrow.

    Looks good.  Good POV

Thanks Mattymanx! I'm glad you liked it.

I can't wait until I'm a Texture/Shader-meister like all of you.  Now all I've got are ideas.  I'm going to call this one "But We Didn't Have a Kitten"

    Cute

  • Gettin pretty tired of Having A Sad for no reason. Art's good therapy, right?
If anybody's got a better shader preset for tears than the Water (Thin) shader, I'd love it if I could make these look a little better.

I Love the expression. and the dramatic contrast of the lighting. They really complement each other.

  • Gosh. Wow. There is no appropriate text that can encompass my feelings right now.

That's super-high praise coming from you, J Cade. Your art is what I want mine to be like when it grows up. <3

Soo... I have a new favorite blender addon. Did you know there's a blender addon that can easily turn stand hair into toony mesh hair? (or non toony hair too, I've been expirimenting with it.) Because I didn't until about 3 days ago and it has made my life complete. It took me about 5 minutes to turn my cycles strands into an easily riggable traditional mesh. (to be fair it took longer to style the hair, but that was months ago). Did I mention it also sets up UV maps for the hair?

Then I just imported it into studio rigged it (okay that took a bit longer, but surprisingly non-terrible) and added a some geometry shells with increasingly transparent maps, and voila! nice volumey hair.

Its a good thing it wasnt laborious to do, becauseI don't even like Frozen, genuinely I just started with it because I had the hair style already made and I figured it would be a good test... I may have gotten carried away.

Uhh there's some Girl 7, Aiko 7, and many other dials, in there, but its mostly a custom morph I'm working on.

    the texture is aiko 7's

...created a pretty reasonable Merida primarily based on of all figures, Julie 5 with a bit of Hitomi and Kimberly mixed in.  May revisit her as I have a few new more toon like characters I've acquired since then.

How long did this one take to render, and was it GPU or CPU?

  • It was about ten minutes at double the size it is now. GPU.

Like almost all my portraits this started as a test for the new costume and hair; but I liked how the skin turned out and couldn't resist doing a render.

Nice, the skin did turn out well, especially love the lighting.

One thing I'm really liking about the store acquisition is that there's a LOT of cool skins and such coming over. And while it might be 'old,' it's ... pretty awesome stuff.

Here's something from RESURRECTION: Domina, which I picked up for $4 today.

That's pretty awesome. Especially the scallops & puka shells.
