Just figured it out..  the new logo looks like a rainbow clown fish.

I also see the rainbow clown fish now!

Well, I guess I'm the only one who sees Beaky...I guess I had one too many anvils dropped on my head as a small child...

    I never saw Beaky, sorry.

I think the logo looks like gay-pride vicky, although the colors are not quite the rainbow of the pride flag.

I think the new logo couild be pan-sexual vickie, which is her true form. (and an alien at that)

Last time I checked, paper is white(ish). Never understood the black background fetishism. If the image looks too bright, calibrate correctly yor monitors.

Paper, reflects light. It is not a light source. Monitors are light sources...and thats a lot of light to put out. Has nothing to do with monitor calibration...

Scientific research has found that Dyslexics can read things easier when they are printed on pastel backgrounds, rather than pure blinding white,

I use 'Deluminate' on Chrome. which has shift-F11 as a hot-key to switch it on and off at any time.

  • TaozTaoz Posts: 10,256

There aren't many things in nature that are bright white actually. One of them is snow, and that can make you snow-blind.

Last thing I will mention for now. I tried Color That Site and did not like it, but Color Transform for FF, I LOVE! Especially the 4th theme on the bottom row. It reminds me of a mix between old school Carrara and Hexagon... wink AND it works through the entire site! You just have to click on the little down arrow/ eye icon to save it.

Does Color Transform make the pop-up windows on the product pages not resize correctly?  That's the problem I'm having with Stylish.

See attached. I even dropped the size of the window to that of a mobile phone and it was still working for me.

This is what I have so far.... cool even my font is Wolffie Green!  cheeky

Cool.  Could you do one for me, with Pale lavender text against the same colour background, then it would almost echo my signature colours of lavender and teal.

Hi Cho, this is actually pretty easy, not as complicated as the older site.  Once you get CTS plugin installed you just click on the icon and the side panel opens up, load up the text and then click the Change button and go down to the like 10 sliders I have and change them to colors and depth you like...

Oh and on a side note, the background bits are just that, background, forground is the text.  I've not gone really deep with this so there are a few elements I need to get fixed, like this very panel for posting, it's off white but the text a the bottom "body   p" is a light blue so can't really see that very well, not that use any of that.

Love that poster! ROFL or is it FORL?

I am many "ic"s dyslex is one of the few I missed.

My son is Dyslexic, and also prone to Migraines, so yes he prefers the dark theme.  I have Amblyopia but also preferred the dark theme.

Thanks for the Wolffie, will have a play alter, oops I mean later,  I am not dyslexic, but sometimes my touchtyping is.

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,343

It's pretty easy hon.  I just ended up using the backgrounds mostly and darkening them.  I was doing the Wolffie Green but then thought "why?", I just need things darker so I'm sort of with the teal blue theme DAZ has got going but it's OK, it's dark!  lol

It' not an uncommon affliction among creative types and it sometimes makes reading anything (or sometimes the same thing) a completely new adventure!. It would be a welcome prospect if Daz kept it in mind when they make unadjustable user changes to their resources that can potently cause problems among their user base.

I like the new design of the site, looks a lot less 'cheap' (for the lack of a better word). They could improve the cart though, the 'remove' and 'wishlis' buttons should be a bit larger and possibly get their own color, there's more that enough room.

Yeah, for those who prefer the dark theme, there should be a dark theme and it's kind of telling that DAZ apparently didn't think of that.

The new logo sucks, of course.

  • ToyenToyen Posts: 2,029

The wishlist is something I´d really love to see re-designed!

I really want the ability to sort it according to which item I want the most and which the least, and there is so much unnecessary blank space next to each item too.

I have often wondered how things are decided upon at DAZ... er...um... Daz... Is there one guy just randomly coming up with stuff?

Seriously, if I visit the site one day and find they no longer sell 3D content but Sneaker-Mops or Octopus habitats, I really would not be surprised...

When I open the forums this morning I actually thought the site had been hacked... 1- it's name is different, 2- the logo is weird and not even remotely like the last one...

I hate being critical of other people's work or choices... But holy cow patties, the logo is terrible... One of the first things I learned when making graphics and advertisements for people is: IT SHOULD ALWAYS LOOK EQUALLY GOOD IN MONOCHROME. It's actually worse in a single color.

If Daz sold amorphous blobs, clownfish, alien paws, it might work... Perhaps even genetic mutation kits, or clay...?  As is, it's just weird... I really had to look at it for a long moment to see the face... (with the globby cranial entrails?... What's going on there?)...

Seriously... DAZ... Daz... or daz... Next time you go for a logo makeover... Why don't you have a contest... Either let some of the really talented ARTISTS here come up with one for you, or let us vote on one... It's actually a cool way of making people feel at home and enjoy participating, it's probably cheaper then paying for someone to make a new logo (though, I'm not so sure about that at the moment)... And it probably grows customer commitment.

and... Please, bring back a dark theme.

    Please.

So, given that my response from Daz Tech support mimics the jist of others, "deal with it", I will be signing off after this message, and who knows if I'll be back. It hurt my eyes to read the forums, and while the store is a little better, it isn't much. I cannot shop when I can't even look at the screen more than a couple seconds at a time.

After looking at a number of other Websites that also use white backgrounds, it isn't specifically the white, but the shade of white, as well as the other colors such as font color,  buttons and such.  A couple points back on the white, and darker contrast on the other colors and it'll be fine. Hopefully the  Daz web designers will make some changes before too long, I was looking forward to spending lots of money in Sept./Oct.  Funny thing is as bad as the new rendo site is, it is still usable.

While I'm sure I won't be missed, I just wanted to say bye.

  • McGyverMcGyver Posts: 7,085

Well... Bye... But it could be worse... It could be like a Star Trek holodeck projection... In which case actual stimulated sharp spear like objects could be poking our eyes...

I always look on the bright side of life... (Cue the music)

    No... I really don't...

Okay, can anyone beat this one...?

    • Clicked on "Store" link for the store front page. Noticed what I thought were this week's new PC goodies, but scattered all over the place.
    • Clicked on "Only show PC+" tickbox to tidy up the display a bit. They vanished, showing everything from last week's PC stuff back.
    • Hard-refreshed the browser. Everything vanished. I noticed the "Artist" filter box now had DAZ selected in it, which I'd switched off a few hours ago after I gave up finding any other DOs I wanted in the New Face sale.
    • Removed the filter. Now I can't see what I thought were the new items that I was sure had the PC+ icon on them.

Believe me, I had calibrate my monitor to have the more dark usable aspect, and this background looks like radioactive snow even in my low bright monitor. In my case Black background is not fetishism, I have some spots in my right eye and bright monitors are a torture.

    Most of the sites I know of use white background with dark text, http://www.outlook.com, http://mail.google.com, http://edition.cnn.com/, http://bind.com, http://google.com, http://www.shutterstock.com, https://www.renderosity.com/, http://depositphotos.com, http://youtube.com, http://amazon.com.

I find @RAMWolff's suggestion more appropiate as it is a cutomizable solution, also on Windows environments there's always a High Contrast Theme in Accessibility Options which can be enable/disable by using keyboard shortcuts.

Site's favicon reminds me a mayan head, I like it though.

The templates for this site don't seem as horrible as the previous site.  If your running Firefox or any of it's other flavors that can make use of the Color That Site add on then I've uploaded two text scripts that can fix the bright to darker.  The first is more along DAZ's teal blue theme and the second is a nice grayed dark version with hints of the teal blue.  I like the latter myself, it's very comfy on my eyes!

Rendo is very dark gray with white text, amazon have too much stuff and garbage covering the white background. Probably the problem in DAZ is the lack of stuff and garbage covering a big part of the white background.

Need a dark theme ASAP!  The white is blinding... I can't buy anything because my eyes can't stand to look at the DAZ site like this!

On the plus side, the font sizing seems to work well.

You fail to address the customer service aspect -- there used to be a dark theme, DAZ Studio  itself has a dark theme popular with advacned users, etc. And the justification for only going whith a super bright theme makes no sense -- the logo is on black, so why is white required in other sections oof the page?? That does not affect the logo (not ot mention there is a blue nav bar below the logo). It all adds up to an insult to every customer that was using the dark theme. It's not about workarounds, it's about the piss poor, "we don't gave a damn about you, but thanks for spending so much money here and please keep spending tons of money" attitude from DAZ.

And I can cherry pick sites too, but how about we go with  a list tied in more directly with our hobby such as  RMP, RDNA. Content Paradise, and ShareCG?  FYI, RMP just went through a major site overall and now have a dark theme. And up till this new change, DAZ offered a dark theme so they are the odd one out. Granted, they basically annoucned that with the new logo.... ;)
