"Cool new UI"...?
What's "cool" about it? I'm dazzled by all the white, I can't see the light yellow "announcement" and "new" tags on the forum listings because I'm dazzled by all the white, as mentioned upthread the typography is... a bit on the dazzled-by-all-the-white bland side, there isn't an option to change to my very much preferred preference of the old dark theme because I'm being dazzled by all the white...
Yes, there is a theme developing here. What is it with 3D art sites lately making so many mindbogglingly obviously bad design decisions about their own websites...?
i can't shop in this environment. just makes me want to cry. was kind to wait for my vacation is over for the change.
Absolutely horrible and totally unecessary. The new logo looks almost sinister in a way, like something to do with genetic engineering or mind control. Hate it.
Font is too small. Breadcrumb bar overlaps title bar. Constant warnings about Secure Content not Displayed. etc. etc.
What kind of a company rolls out a major website re-vamp just minutes after having to deal with a massive data recovery exercise because their failover strategy didn't failover?
It's a zero out of ten from me - but then you wouldn't have expected anything else.
Oh its at 50% off again look!

I bought them yesterday for $16.95, so do you really think I should ask if they could give me $6.97 back? Would they really do it? Is it appropriate?
If there are actual technical issues, report them by submitting a ticket. If it is just personal preference, then each person has their own opinion ....not everyone will be happy, and not everyone will hate it. :)
They do have a 30 day policy. You can submit a ticket. :)
The new logo would be great for a company making a 3D sculpting program like Pixologic. Personally, I'll miss the old one (and is that new face logo going to replace the old one on the Iray shader testing object?). I definitely don't like the font choice for the "DAZ 3D" part though.
But yay, muscle morphs for G3 and we didn't have to wait a year and a half!
I dont know about cool, more like dazzling. No pun intended!
New Daz accessories:
This new forums not user frendly for posting pics!!
Has anyone else noticed that it is no longer DAZ (Digital Art Zone) but now Daz as in one word? Does this mean there has been a change in the name as well as a new logo?
Ah the joys of using a browser with a night mode, goodbye glaring white and hello dark gray
I would never have guessed what the new logo was supposed to be if I hadn't seen the 'New Face Of DAZ' promo. I thought it was a hand and still think it looks like one, even on my big desktop monitor. The entire site looks and behaves like it's gone live while still being put together by a newbie crew who are all in the early stages of some kind on-the-job training.
its not bothering me. I like it
Wow, I thought the new logo was an oil brush leaving paint behind it. Looks aboslutely terrible/silly as a small single color icon. Of course, I was snowblind, so it was hard to really see anything. Maybe that also explains how the new logo was apporved ("yes, yes can I stop looking at the retina damaging screen now?!?")
LOL, I agree! It's a morphable mutant hand, only from Daz. Using Genesis 3 Tech.
Yeah I know that but how should I put it?
I mean I still want the item, I dont want to return it but if I knew it would be at 50% off today I´d wait with the purchase of course.
Just tell them what you said here. :) That you bought it and it is now on sale and you'd like a refund for the difference. If you let them know upfront if store credit is "ok" they can get it done faster. If you want it back on a card, may take a bit longer.
Greetings,
LOL! I thought it was a hand also, until I hit the main DAZ page; that's why I said that I expect it'll take some time for the logo to grow on me. :)
I hadn't realized it wasn't preserving the dark theme; I never use it, really. Dark seemed appropriate for the store (looking at art against a dark background), but never seemed a good idea for the forums where I mainly read text, and since it was pick-one-everywhere, I went with the light theme.
Honestly, everything seems a little snappier, a little more well-put-together. It helps that my first exposure to it was clicking through to my cart, and suddenly 'BOOM! New UI!' and it was very clean and nice.
I don't think DAZ should be specifically supporting light/dark themes; I think they should leave that to folks using browser plugins to override. It's nearly double the work to support UI changes when you have to support themes. If the support is 3rd party (e.g. using Stylebot on Chrome, or the equivalent elsehere) then it's generally automatically understood that it's going to be 'best effort'. I'd rather they put that effort to other use in regards to the store and forums UI work.
Anybody want to put together some recommended/useful 'Stylebot' styles?

Does anyone else see a "3D" in the 'hand' part of that logo? Probably intentional, but it does kinda remind me of the deviantArt nonsense with the stylized "Z" and their gross "Bleed and Breed Art" slogan (that thankfully I don't hear often now).
I've done similiar. Just let them know the date of purchase, and the price it is right now. Might take a few days but they will give you the difference. I find it best to do the math for them and show your work :) Just to avoid confusion and to set expectations right.
Greetings,
Ohhhhh! Yeah, okay, when you say it like that, sure... The fingers of color out the back are the '3', and the shape of the face is a 'D'. I also played with giving the icon a margin-right of 3px on the product slabs in the thumbnail views, and it made the nose of the face more visible, which helped a little bit.
My experience is that NOBODY likes a new logo, when it comes out. :)
I've started trying to live and breathe 'De gustibus non est disputandum', recently. It turns out that 90% of the things people get worked up about are really just matters of taste...

I really like the new UI. My eyesight was never good to start with and hasn't improved with age which may explain why I like light-coloured backgrounds and black text. The new logo is naff, though.
Cheers,
Alex.
I think the graphic itself is decent enough. Pleasant even. But doesn't really work how it's applied and really bad as an icon.
Particularly when used as a DO, it either looks like:
Does anyone else, when looking at the new logo think...Beaky Buzzard?
Ah, DAZ's version of the tried and true (NOT) Rorschach Test. If you see a 3-fingered alien, you will never get the PC Discounts.
Not only is a dark theme easier on people with sensitive eyes like myself, but it also tends to be a preference for those of us who are energy conscious. On screen, white is the maximum of light, black is the absence of it, on paper or any other physical medium it is the other way around because it deals in pigment instead of light. Light costs energy, less light = less energy used. I like the new logo but using it to note a "Daz Original" probably isn't the best idea since it just looks like a blob of blue-green paint. In the catalog I would have opted for the old logo in the new color. More recognizable and easier to notice.
Also, it needs more testing in multiple browsers, because many things get cut off in firefox for example. Wonderful... now my attachment doesn't work either.
That is untrue and whom ever sold that idea made some good pennies. Having colors picked for different themes is an insignificant part of the process timewise. It doesn't have to happen but once. These themes we are talking about are the same design, with different colors. If image and font sizes changed then yes it would be a fair amount of more work.
I saw a head with brain blown out of the back
"black= energy efficient" may not be correct under many circumstances. Not trying to be annoying, just want to correct potential misconceptions. Here's an interesting article discussing the reasons you might find interesting: http://www.quora.com/Does-a-white-background-use-more-energy-on-a-LCD-than-if-it-was-set-to-black
Yea, I added PC Club to my cart since its on sale, but it used to reflect the PC Club discount on other items in the cart, if the PC Club was in cart...not this time.
Not going to take the risk to purchase anything until stuff is fixed :(
