Some guidance on the use of AI art in DAZ contests would be greatly appreciated. Clearly a solely or primarily AI created image should not be acceptable. But if I use AI to generate a background image and then use that image as the background in a DAZ render would that be permited? Personally I see little difference in that and using a purchased (or free) HDRI or background. Similarly if I create a DS render and the use AI to modify it would that be permitted? I'm not sure if that is much different than other postwork.

At any rate this seems like a bit of a grey area that DAZ should further clarify.

It wasn't in reference to contests, which might be stricter in at least some cases, but for gallery images (and forum, but the rules are a bit looser theer anyway) AI is OK as part of an image - postwork a render, or providing resources for use in a render as in your example.

Thanks, Richard I sort of assumed that; but I was particularly concerned about contests (not only major ones but also ones like the DAZ+ contests) which generally allow post work  and use of resources such as HDRI. but don't specifically state a prohibition on the partial use of AI.

Yeah I totally agree on that. Thanks for voicing your opinion on it!

There really are some amazing backgrounds that can be generated.

Well I was disappointed in some of the chosen images because I thought the entries were supposed to depict a story. Does the portrait truly represent the character name given, without a doubt, or could it be a portrait of another being? Would this character of myth sit in front of an artist to have his portrait made? Where is the story (in the render) to make it believable? Without a proper story behind the image it shouldn't have been considered, no matter how beautifully done. It seems to me that telling a story wasn't that important in this contest and probably should not have been a requirement but considered a bonus or tiebreaker factor. Perhaps though, I misinterpreted the rules by putting too much emphasis on the storytelling. I do appreciate the contest and opportunity to win prizes. I hope there will be more to come! Congratulations to all of the winners!
