Grrr, just when I found a way to split the stacked tiles of the previous figures into different UDIM’s to texture them in Mari…

Have you looked at the new maps? Pretty sure one of the reasons that they went with the new UV's is in order to get rid of stacking so that the figure would be easier to deal with in other programs.

Didn't look yet, but I guess they're on different tiles now?

Yes, this will be much easier to texture. For the previous figures, I had to go through UVMapper and Modo to split the maps into different tiles.

    1) Wow! I don't care if she is CG, but that is one beautiful Woman.

    2) AniBlock compatibility is going to be wonky

It's 2:30 am where I am and those are the first two things that crossed my mind when I saw the splash page.

They weren't in the store when I said that, I promise! They are there now...which may mean I need to spend more money now, because I always want those...

And this time they didn't sell them as a bundle, which brings some extra money.

Yeah, I'm putting everything in my cart, and waiting until I wake up in the morning to pull the trigger.

I had an insight, which might help other people.

This is just a G2F-like figure release. It's just another 20-something of the month, Tuesday figure release.

It's not buying into a whole new way of thinking, or anything else like that. Your G2F stuff will work on it, except texture maps, but that's okay, it's like it's got a new UV anyway, and didn't they all? :)

If you think of it like that, it's just another monthly release, and it's okay. So if you'd pay $66.13 (or $59.something, or whatever) for a new release, with some cool new clothes, and GORGEOUS hair, and stuff like that, then it's right in line with that. You can buy her and have her along side your G2F stuff, like just another character.

Since I buy nearly all the G2F characters, unless their included items REALLY don't interest me, that made it a lot easier for me. Might not work for you, but give it a try.

    -- Morgan

AniBlocks, either store bought or self-made..........probably aren't going to work smoothly....,.

I hear what your saying though and I agree it's not a bad thing to have a new model.

    LOL!

I was referring to the head and body morphs, they are listed at full price without a 30% discount and there isn't a bundle of both morph packs together.

It'll be a little while before I get V7 or the morphs, but, who knows, there may be more savings by the time I do.

Sorry, yeah, I also meant the body/head morphs, that there's always a 'Yet', when things are wonky, price-wise.

I think they're still in the process of adding stuff... the g3f expression pack's been added and discounts are showing now... I think it's more store flux.

I am afraid better bends and expressions just aren’t enough to justify the huge expense.

    I’m off this money-go-round.

Same to me. This "Hobby" becomes far to expensive. After getting a lot of " 6" figures and tons of G2 outfits, i'll have fun with my existing Stuff and spend money for other things now than DAZ ...

Some of the new (g3 only) outfits are nice, so I should buy now new v7 (and soon m7, a7 ..), new hairs, new shoes, new morphs, new poses, new anthing (and no update offers)? And in about 6-9 months the same game with v8? Definitive NO!

    "Autofit" is no argument.

Probably, still, the discounts will be long gone by the time I can get any of them anyway. Knowing my luck there'll be a big sale the day after I do. I got stung that way when I got Darius 6.

    the problem:

hair and clothes are not growing in quality with model and rendering

Hehe, that's just what I was thinking.
And they did it again: Astrani Outfit and Vigilante Outfit, two 'adventure' outfits, come with super high heels... That's ridiculous. Something I don't understand is why G2 and now G3 characters, like Adaline, very often have these bloodshot eyes. Adaline looks like a breathtaking beauty, but those eyes...

V7 seems to be an attractive figure, and the improved facial expressions and the better compatibility of G3F and G3M products are something I appreciate very much. But until I don't know if I can use Autofit and the G1 and G2 content I bought for a lot of money with G3, this generation is not too interesting for me.

    just to start ;-(

the lack of communication by Daz is a killer. We can't even imagine our strategy with this new products coming from nowhere

Well, the Neck and Chest are now both split into Lower and Upper nodes, but does anyone have any idea why there are separate Bend and Twist nodes for the Thighs, Shoulders and Forearms? The rotations are the same, they're just presented in a different order.

I think the big problem is that this essentially kills off all support for G2. No one's going to release that new set of armour for an older model now, or a new shader or a high Def skin texture. So what we have is pretty much all we're going to have now. It would have been nice if daz gave the community a bit more time to grow the product library before killing it off.

The one saving grace is that we will probably get G3 bundled with the program so we will still be able to use some of the new stuff, but we will still have to buy the face morphs and growing up and base skins etc etc, with a hefty initial outlay just to get the base figure working properly.

Again...in order to get the Gens, we need to buy a package of other stuff just to get them. I know that I personally have no interest in the other items in the Pro Bundle. As usual. I skipped all of the G2 Pro bundles for the same reason. Not a big deal not getting them, but still. The gens being in bundles of stuff that I don't want means that I probably won't be getting them this time around, either.

I don't know, it's possible Slosh may have something in the works that ensures some backwards compatibility for textures, we'll just have to see. It's very much early days as yet. It's support for 3Delight that don't want to disappear altogether.

Autofitted the sighni dress and Pixi perfect Hair to genesis 3 lady (not the clone), works fine for most poses, I don't count those fashion model preset poses as normally human possible, but this is one of them. The more extreme ones need a little adaption.

    Just recently...

EVERYONE: "LOL, no, don't worry. They wouldn't release Genesis 3 this soon after G2. Nobody would be able to afford that."
ME: "Heh, yeah... That'd be too surreal. I guess I'd better invest in G2. I mean, HD really does look very impressive and pretty much justifies moving on up from Genesis."
EVERYONE: "Sure! We're all doing that!"

    This morning...

    "FUUUUUUU-...!"

That was exactly my reaction. Except I said: "Are you F****** kidding me?" Then went into a hitler-"NEIN-NEIN-NEIN"-rage for half an hour...

So all in all I see no reason to upgrade to G3 for now. Nicer bends? Yay, it's like buying a new car because it has more bubblegum-holders than your old one. Big deal.
