I am very much disappointed with that release. Genesis 3 and V7 out of nowhere, without any real reason for it. The bundles are too expensive and the promo renders do not show any render with 3Delight. I do not use that Iray stuff and I want to see how she looks in 3Delight.

Installed V7 in Studio 4.8. When I try loading the V7 figure I am greeted with the following dialog:

So I tried re-installing with the DIM. No joy. Then downloaded the zip V7 base file and installed. Still the original issues. Then tried a file search of my C drive but nothing with the above showed up.
Just wondering if anyone other than myself experiencing this issue. Wanted to see if it was just me before I submit a bug report to DAZ.

I've noticed something. The feature list for V7 doesn't show shape or expression morphs, so, it looks like these will come separately later. Odd not to release them first really...

I'm not so sure, at first glance, that this is a quantum leap. Facial expressions are a good step forward but otherwise, is there much there that can't be done with V6 and her siblings? After all, I have the morph packs for G2F to transform her to any age from toddler to grandma, morphs to make her bend nicely, extra HD add-ons for wrinkles, etc. What does V7 offer that makes a huge investment necessary?
I also have GenX2 for transferring previous shapes to G2F. I have anatomy that was only available in Pro Bundles (which I picked up in some drastic, knock-down price sales) and other 3rd. Party add-ons. Should I forget all that and start building a new set so that, when I finally get all the stuff I need, G4/V8 will be announced?
Sounds like you haven't installed the Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials yet. If they're not showing up in your DIM they are in the Product Library.

I have V7 in my cart, and I'm going to buy her, but...there are no HD morphs mentioned, so that'll be another $20+ when that comes out.Also G3 Evolution-equivalent morphs, which you know are coming.
I'm all in, mostly on account of the facial expressions. It's so hard to make G2FM smile anything like naturally, that I'm hoping that'll be easier in this version. But I'm sad the HD morph wasn't available out of the gate. Maybe getting an even better discount on tomorrow's items is a hint that those things will be out tomorrow, and if we opt into V7 today, it'll take a bit of the financial pain down...

The experiences with DAZ shows, that you can get the Pro Bundles a half year later for 70% off. So if you can live that time with G2, it's worth to wait.
I think also that the prices are to high, personally I would buy much more products, if all prices are lower.
Grrr, just when I found a way to split the stacked tiles of the previous figures into different UDIM's to texture them in Mari... :)
Might be helpful to do some 'reverse engeneering' on G3 though.

I'm not seeing enough extra "reality" to justify spending £1000's upgrading to G3. I know it's early days yet and I like the move back to one base figure like with Genesis but the expressions better be a quantum leap above G2 to get me to upgrade. I have so many G1&2 characters that there needs to be some way to convert them to G3 otherwise I'm done with the "upgrade" treadmill. There isn't really an upgrade path with any of these products - just buying something you already own all over again. For example I recently bought the pose builder product and will now have to buy it all over again if I wish to use it on G3. That's not an upgrade path. Really fed up with this treadmill.

Agreed. I have Reality 4 and, while it is not perfect and I've voiced my complaints, Paolo is pretty good about his upgrades. Fro example, by all accounts, R4.1 *will be* a quantum leap upgrade, with a reported 10 fold render speed increase (thanks to a new version of Luxrender). He is busy integrating the new Lux into R4 and will release it when tested. Free upgrade, no quibble.
Not from 2013, but a couple of years from now. If they're literally waiting only a couple from the initial release, that clearly means we're going to see the G3 character product line effectively being closed as soon as 2017...
The only thing which would truly make me see this as vital, would be if they're going back to a unisex base, but the mention of 'Genesis 3 Female' on product descriptions makes that very unlikely. I know several people have mentioned it seems to bend more realistically, but I can't say that's terribly obvious on the pictures so far.
I'm sure something will come along to make the new generation worth it (HD and, particularly, the HD creature creator stuff did that for me with G2), but after having only just made the leap to Iray (which there are disappointingly few user-friendly tutorials available on You Tube for), this seems a perplexing decision.
The sad thing is that it wouldn't matter so much if it meant we'd still be getting new clothing and hair for G2. But we know from G2's release, that Genesis product creation effectively ground to a halt not too long after. That's the main worry.

Have you looked at the new maps? Pretty sure one of the reasons that they went with the new UV's is in order to get rid of stacking so that the figure would be easier to deal with in other programs.

Note: with the new official render stamps, if it doesn't say Iray DS render it means is a 3delight DS render. We are told not to add "3delight" explicitly, at least for now.
I agree DAZ should have 3delight promos if 3delight mats are included in the product. Strange when they aren't. :long:
And here is mine of the base Genesis 3 Female nothing special, the hair used is Jaythen Hair for V4 I converted to Genesis 2, and the outfit is one for Genesis 2.. But at the moment until we see older Generation Shape/Clones you will have to convert all of your V3/V4/Genesis 1 content to Genesis 2 as that is the only autofit clone so far..
I am afraid better bends and expressions just aren't enough to justify the huge expense.
I'm off this money-go-round.

It's not DAZ abondoning Poser users, it's Smith Micro because they refuse to support DAZ figures!
DSON was DAZ's initiative and Poser did nothing towards compatibility whatsoever

That's something I suppose. When I upgrade many of my other non-DAZ products the discount is often very much more.
So far none of the G3 images offer any appreciable improvement in realism. As an animator, even if the expressions are much better (the jury's out on that one atm) then without better facial animation tools much of that alleged improvement is wasted. In fact a lot of my G1 characters look better than my G2 ones so G2 didn't always live up to it's hype. If that's the case this time then I'm not spending lots of cash for small improvements all over again.
No worries, I found the G3F Essentials mentioned elsewhere so I went and got them.

What I find amusing about all these promo renders done in Iray is that they don't look any better than ones done in 3Delight.

Then, of course, you will need Growing Up for G3 and Ageing Morphs for G3. Perhaps you might even need Beautiful Bends for G3, not to mention the unmentionables ... and so on ... by the time you have saved for them all, DAZ will release G4 and we can all hop on the Carousel once again.

I'm fairly sure the unmentionables are part of the Pro bundle, as usual. :) As for the rest...possibly. I might realize that I never used the aging morphs, and don't need them, but I used Growing Up in small amounts constantly, and with a small discount for being a loyal Zev0 customer, pick up the G3 version...Still, I had an insight, which might help other people.
This is just a G2F-like figure release. It's just another 20-something of the month, Tuesday figure release.
It's not buying into a whole new way of thinking, or anything else like that. Your G2F stuff will work on it, except texture maps, but that's okay, it's like it's got a new UV anyway, and didn't they all? ;)
If you think of it like that, it's just another monthly release, and it's okay. So if you'd pay $66.13 (or $59.something, or whatever) for a new release, with some cool new clothes, and GORGEOUS hair, and stuff like that, then it's right in line with that. You can buy her and have her along side your G2F stuff, like just another character.
Since I buy nearly all the G2F characters, unless their included items REALLY don't interest me, that made it a lot easier for me. Might not work for you, but give it a try. It might change your perspective a bit.
