Yeah, seam guides for the base templates. I won't be able to do them for the Victoria 7 UVs because I don't have them, but hopefully my usual guides for the Genesis 3 female will be of some use to someone. :)

Marvelously useful :D Thank you so much for doing them! Those are about the most indispensable resource for me that I can think of!

That's what I'm thinking too. I was just bankrupting me for Genesis2 content last fall and I see no way to switch to G3 atm. It's just a financial disaster. I was upset as they abandoned Genesis 1 already and split G2 into male and female model again (I still think they did that, to press more money out of the users). And if they're pumping out new generations on that speed I better wait till Christmas when we get Victoria 94.

Sorry for not having any positive things to say :( But I just can't afford spending another 200 bucks on "new" content. I'll have to hope for the G3 to G2 clones...

The technology is different, from what i understand... I mean, just reading up on this UDIM stuff they now use instead of the good ol' UV map.... and that Quoadrowhatchma weighting? And moving ear lobes! ;-P

It looks good, but comes at a bad time for my bank account....

Completely agree this is getting ridiculous and I am in the same boat I am not going to spend a truck load of cash on a new figure when I have so much stuff from G2 and down.. What is really more insane is that they have shot themselves in the foot with regards to selling anymore new G2 stuff though I bet that was the plan all along who knows..

So I've found a good reason to start the switch over. Look at the shoulder/neck bends! EEEEE! :) The elbow is nice too, but the shoulder area is so very much better its not even funny.

Overall the figure also does a better job of retaining volume, no render but if you put her hands in a fist the fingers look much less noodly

I had a quick play with G3F earlier and I was able to autofit Nightfever Hair to her, so, we may get by with hair and clothes, but maybe not textures, so that is something I suppose. One thing I have noticed is that there are hardly any morphs with G3F so I'm wondering if they now come with V7 and not separately like the other base figure morphs did.

She looks nice, but not being able to use any existing textures is going to be a deal killer for now. That and the fact that they're still playing the geografted gens game... I'm not buying a less than complete figure and close to $100 is too much for a figure that doesn't have a broad base of support yet.

Yeah I am going to hold off until we see the Gen3, Gen4, Gen5, Gen6 shapes for Genesis 3 as well as seeing if there will be a GenX3 and everything else needed to port past generation content to the new figure..

AH, didn't think of that. thank you.

Still wary of paying out AGAIN, but the figure does look nice.

Just tried a straight conversion of my Arcadia Rising for G2 to G3 V7, not perfect but good enough, The hair is from G1 to G2 then to G3 that was really good for the hair. So I would say you can use most of the G2 stuff !

I mean, just reading up on this UDIM stuff they now use instead of the good ol’ UV map

G3 uses UV maps. They are simply laid out more effectively for current techniques. All you have to do is look at the templates in surfaces to see what they are or to look at the uv views of different surface areas to see what they look like. Studio has been able to use PTEX for a good long while now but as far as I know there has never been anything in the store that actually used it.

The thing there is that you might well be able to use shapes, hair and clothes, but, if the UV is a complete new system then no character texture will be transferrable so whatever new thing you create from old stuff it will never look 100% like it did. You may as well stick with the older figures for older stuff if this proves to be the case. You'd probably save money as well.

If I could make an appeal to PA/Vendors: if it is possible, please include a G2 fit with your G3 clothing. I noticed that several of my G2F purchases automatically installed a G1 version which was very considerate of the artist. Some of us took a long time in catching up with G2 ... indeed, I've only just got to the point where I think I have a reasonable wardrobe for G2F/V6 and her cousins. I don't have anything for G2M at all - still catching up on G1 stuff when there's a sale.

The point I'm trying to make is this: not everyone has the bank balance to buy into G3/V7 right away. Some will take months - maybe a year - before doings so (or wait for v8). So why not make clothing that will fit our existing models knowing that we will also be building a nice set of clothing for V7 when we can afford to upgrade?

It would have to be some sort of addon pack as there are fixup of weight maps and some smoothing of the mesh needed to pass DAZ QA.

I think it's good that DAZ its characters constantly evolving. But I think it's not good that you get served as a user the finished product without the previously announced at least once.

Probably DAZ is afraid that the sales of products for the previous Genesis figures then immediately go back drastically, because all are waiting for new products for the 3rd generation of Genesis.

The description clearly explains that all the products that are developed for Genesis 3, also fit all shapes of Genesis 3, but there is no word about whether clothing for previous Genesis versions or even of the generation 4 automatically adjusted be.

I also think it's not good that we now have to buy all the products that we have already bought for Genesis 2 new (See Pose Builder). Here it would be accommodating and attached finally offer an upgrade feature for products that are almost identical to their predecessors.

No Poser Support. So Daz does the final step in abandoning the Poser users. That was forseeable. The Pro Bundle is a little bit expensive. So i will wait a little bit with the purchase. I have so much Genesis 2 stuff that i first must use. And regarding that the end of the month is near, my financials are a little bit low on fuel. Why doesn't Daz bring a new figure at the beginning of the month?

Now i will wait for the first renders of V7.

I like the new Victoria 7.
I don´t like the price of Pro Bundle.
I hope she finally has better areolas texture and not men tiny areolas like the other versions.
    oh and puffy areolas parameters...

many parameters?, if someone can prove a digital clone of Sayumi Michishige on Victoria7 maybe I will consider buy the Pro Bundle.

So, Poser users abandoned?, FINALLY!, Poser users stick with Poser, that is necessary, I'm serious, if you want all the features, better change to DazStudio.

Even with G3F, you can autofit stuff for G2F to her so a little way down the track there may be support for other older shapes. I guess what you could do is to autofit something to a G2, save it as a wearables preset and then autofit that to G3F.

Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials does include a Genesis 2 Female auto-fit clone. When I applied a Genesis 2 Female high heeled shoe, the Auto-Fit process converted the shoe perfectly and automatically applied a high heeled foot pose!!

Edit: Upon further testing, the added foot pose is hit and miss, as some other conversions are not applying a foot pose. The EmoBoots from Emotions for Teen Jose converted perfectly including a foot pose.

Edit, Edit: Conversion is hit or miss too, so don't get too excited about sharing shoes with G2

    Just recently...

EVERYONE: "LOL, no, don't worry. They wouldn't release Genesis 3 this soon after G2. Nobody would be able to afford that."
ME: "Heh, yeah... That'd be too surreal. I guess I'd better invest in G2. I mean, HD really does look very impressive and pretty much justifies moving on up from Genesis."
EVERYONE: "Sure! We're all doing that!"

    This morning...

    "FUUUUUUU-...!"

It was going to take me a while to save up for certain shaders before attempting to jump into Iray, but having to purchase all the many critical morph packs for G3, all over again... Oyyy... If each new character comes with their own HD morphs (as they should have been during the G2 era), then I might consider it, but the timing of this just feels crazy. Would have thought they'd wait for at least two or three years before attempting yet another quantum leap.

Does anyone know if there's a list somewhere of facial poses that come standard with the character? I'm trying to figure out how much you you can do out the box, and how much you have to buy afterwards. before I get sucked into an endless purchase cycle. I assume you can't change the age, body shape - overweight, nose size etc without buying more plugins.

The Genesis 3 Female Starter was in my DIM and I have installed it. I have tested the Arthurian Dress for genesis 2 Females and the Nimue Hair on her.

The Autofit works, but if you changed the figure to one of the included base poses it it a catastophe
