That's with the hair exported to OBJ? You've done a much better job of preserving its fineness than a lot of OBJ exports of hair from various applications.
Thanks Richard, yes the fur is an OBJ. I've set root/tip width at 220/120, 850K hairs, and then used it with IRay. It's obviously a longer workflow than rendering to 3Delight, but IMO looks good. And as IRay will implement hair primitives, we'll update LAMH to support those natively.

I have been waiting for a red fox to illustrate some of my stories for a while, so thank you Alessandro, your fox is so realistic, and so nice to hear there will be an LAMH update for Iray. Very much appreciated, and already purchased. :-)
Kind regards.

Well, actually I have to thank you and all the folks for your continued support to my products. I hope you will enjoy using them.
About LAMH, there is a lot of work going on and hopefully soon we'll unleash some great news about it.
Did you try changing Ground Position Mode to Manual? Leaving it on Auto doesn't always work right...
And if you look on the left of the render window there's one of those little collapse/show widgets - expand and you get the render options that can be altered without having to start from scratch, including the stop conditions so that you can raise the time or number of iterations if necessary.
This is so awesome! I had a render that needed more time to refine after it had finished, and using that feature to add more time instantly made the Resume button available again. I love it!
My Sunday morning fun ..I was adding some 18K fiber grass to my Pixar Campus set , looking forward to LAMH rendered in Iray ( not as obj )
That looks really, really good..
I figured Pixar campus deserves a kitty
And, yeah, I'd really like to not have to do LAMH obj. ;)
Thanks .. what about Grassbees ? lol forgot to set the right color for the Translucent SSS back reflection in the first renders what should be always as the main Base color to better blend of the grass
That looks really, really good..
Mec4D: Great stuff.
When I first got LAMH, I was extremely excited to use it for grass and similar. REALLY looking forward to changes to make it work lighter in Iray.
Beautiful image!
One of my early LAMH experiments, in 3Delight. (Just rerendered it)
First shows the very ordinary starting surface, second... woo!
I attempted to try this in Iray, but 1 million 'hairs' ~= 1 GB ~= MY COMPUTER GO BOOM
nice grass, that why I reduced mine as much as I can to avoid kaboom !
my grass have 1 million poly , only one face and 3 segments not need double faces for grass .. think smart
I am using Zbrush for my grass so I can control it better and reduce everything to minimum
rendering short animation now to see it in action ;)
Did he smell the catnip in MEC4D's bushes?
;)
Nice render...
LMAO !

Nice render...
Testing, using Sickleyield's tutorial

My Sunday experiments, playing with lights via tone mapping, exposure control and environment.
...ahh, you already answered my question about the grass. *sigh*
One thing you can do is to create a grass with less points per guide. The default is 13 points per guide, which is quite much for grass (or short fur as the cat you did). If you reduce that parameter, say to 5 or 6 points, you will see how the OBJ file size will reduce and increase render times and performances.
Another rerender of an early project.
And yeah, fewer points is a better idea. ;) (This took 3 hours, woof, since I just wanted to redo it straight -- LAMH on the legs and chest, and the grass)
nice light study , so where the Gods rays lol just kidding
...ahhh it's the flutterby fairy. The grass and hair look really good.
...OK AoA's grass shader does not work in Iray. all I get is a green carpet more reminiscent of old Astroturf.
Looks like I have to either wait for a proper Iray grass shader or put LAMH on the wishlist.
If I can redo the grass with fewer points (again, it was, like, the third thing I tried when I first got LAMH a few months ago), I may try redoing it in Iray.
Grassy pit, this time in Iray. Not bad with 3 points! Total file size of 260k, and the render took all of 8 mins or so.
If I was really committed I'd use instanced geometry to get the blade tips right, but meh.
Those eyes are looking mighty real, Cath!
Am I seeing things or did you put in some motion blur in post? I'm guessing you rendered at 30fps, so it wouldn't show so much but it looks a little bit like motion blur when you freeze the kick. I'm hoping for good motion blur settings as 3DS Max has it with their Iray version, and I was so happy when DAZ Studio finally got it a couple years ago. It makes animation rendered at 24 fps look better and more film like.
Looks the critters form the movie Critters when they were rolled up in a ball
Ugh. I keep trying to turn the previous pavilion into Iray, but LAMH keeps eating my files.
I FIGHT ON
you can change the roughness I did this to match my grass in the campus , also crush blacks and highlights was set off under tone mapping
that is all other settings as in the standard Uber base
