    Great render.

    +1 yes

Do people know if those giant flying reptiles were carrion birds?  Don't know what made me wonder; perhaps the carcass.

This was rendered in Blender (Cycles). Using LAMH exported from DS. Tried to see what Carrara could do out of curiosity, but it couldn't handle the fiber obj at all. I am curious about the difference in the free player versus the full, but looks like there are some issues with it and DS. Amazing how much work hair and fur can be.

we need a LAMH and Standbased hair to Carrara hair converter enlightened

Blender you can actually use Diffeo for the latter I believe to get particle hair

    still looks great

Blender has quite a few hair options, but not ready to spend the time on that yet. The bridge couldn't bring it over either. I don't know if the full player might work better. You could make your own hair on a model. I was also playing with different lighting moods with hair etc... To see what I liked. LAMH models are nice. It would be good to be able to use them better. I did have to work on the nose, though. The other shaders came in ok w/o much tweaking.

Are you referring to this addon?

Two thunbs up for the render, @3deedlin.  I've generally preferred Carrara hair to Daz Studio solutions.  In part, that is because Philemo's conversion plugin to mesh makes it easy for me to go back and forth between photorealistic and toon yet retaining the same hair style.  I am only now digging deeper into Blender.  Does it have a strand-to-mesh converter?  Or backwards?

Very nice, reminds me of the Dire Wolf recently brought back from extinction.  One of my favorite vendors switched from VUE format to Blender a while back, so I'm thinking of getting into it.  I tried long ago and could not get my head around it.  frown

I find it difficult using  cameras, lighting and keyframing in Blender and getting it to render using the preferences I want, and those nodes for everything

seem to be just fighting with it all the time

I use it as my video editor and do some modeling functions in it but that's all

I export the results to Carrara, DAZ studio and other softwares

OK, thanks, sounds like I may not do much better in Blender than my earlier try long ago.  I have a good collection of that vendor I mentioned in his earlier VUE format projects (landscapes, city scenes), so there's not a strong push for me to Blender.

Blender as a video editor?  That would never have occurred to me, but a quick search says yup.  enlightened

it is very basic as a video editor but totally free and has the ability to render 8K videos or more among other things other free editors don't do.

I use that frequently for 360 panoramic videos

many swear by Blender for rendering in Eevee but it's not intuitive for me at all

even getting it to use my card and render in it a challenge cheeky

it will readily enough in preview but setting an image series going it keeps defaulting to Blender Render which on a Ryzen3 is useless

I think it's because I use both my 2080Ti AND onboard Vega graphics for my monitors

and since the latter is my main monitor it defaults to it

many of my other softwares use both which is awesome

and that actually includes DAZ studio for Dforce and Filament

(obviously not iray as Nvidia only)

I only understand about half of what follows, but that part sounds great, I will pass it along to my newsletter subscribers (mostly seniors who dabble in computer graphics).

I do have to say I very much like VEGAS for video editing, for one thing it has the Particle Illusion plugin, a program I worship. (There is also a free standalone version).  Here is a 1 minute video using PI's snow effect:

Thank you all for the nice comments. I find Blender is really good these days. Just setup your interface at the beginning. It is very powerful. So many things work well with it. I tried bforartist, but I find following tutorials or using addons or scripts to be more problematic. I work on a laptop which has it's own challenges. It has a robust community as well.It is very mouse hot key oriented, but you can tweak the interface so much. That is why I like to take time to explore different aspects with details.I think Vue is pretty cool and plant library, but you can use it with Blender also.Because Blender can do so much you don't have to go to other programs as much.Carrara still has a decent engine especially considering how old it is.I really wanted to see how it would do.

I am sure this is obvious, but did you enable it to use both or GPU in preferences?

I got that also. Lol. I got several. Alesandro does nice animals. I might get the full, but not sure since there are issues. Unfortunately, I only have so much time I can spend on these things.

yes but it seems to do it's own thing

I believe it is monitor related though and not the only program that will do that

iClone 6 uses the graphics of whichever monitor it's on too

my unusual setup causes issues sometimes but I cannot plug a second monitor into my 2080Ti display ports as it just won't work, fault with the card which was given to me I think because my 980Ti could run 4 monitors and I never had these issues

I had to enable the iGPU in the BIOs and it's not something that's recommended

some Ai programs won't work because of it too as don't see a CUDA engine

it took me 3 different builds of Automatic 1111 to find one that saw my card (and happily works on either monitor) yet weirdly the Forge version works fine too

when it does work it works well as I have the extra non CUDA graphics for other tasks

I also can totally crash my GPU and still have a working monitor to save my work which has proven a lifesaver at times

DAZ studio likes it, I get more rendering power without the monitor poaching some,
