Well, if we're using DazCentral as a yardstick for newer stuff being better, we have reason to be very afraid.

Hmm... wondering if that'll include the forum too...

    Anyone remember the Magento move?

Just gonna ask how many of those who are scared of the store migrating to a new software have complained within the last month or two about the various issues in the current store?  I know these kinda big changes can be worrying, but there are real problems in the status quo too.

Ahem.  People complained about DIM and we got DazCentral.

will we lose all the old posts again?

    damn

yes better do archives of my bookmarked threads shame about some of the tutorials people share etc, we have lost so much in the past, fortunately Dartanbeck is updating his own website with useful  Carrara stuff now because we lost so much there before and learnt.

Also a few other offsite pages exist

Forums are being left alone for the current future, all focus is on the store. On the plus side you don't have to worry about any of this stuff changing (although the migration for the forums might mean they are down for a day or so pre-migration) on the minus side, it's still going to log you out all the time for it's own bizarre reasons.

Also, the site migration is being handled as a live data sync (one-way) so we can give it a full test on a full dataset before any of you get your hands on it. Additionally, we already have it deployed for the sister company so our staff is already familiar with how to feed and water it. So, this migration is definitely going to be easier on you all than the last one.

Thats a good thing.  At least you have all had time to learn it and see how it handles.

Unfirtunately I'll believe that when I see it, when you consider 50% to be 8 out of 12 I don't have really have much faith in what your staff do.

Hopefully this means that sales will be correct and working properly as soon as they start, and not an hour after it goes up - and perhaps when a new sale banner goes up, everyone sees it at the same time (and not two hours later once it ‘propigates’ or whatever the heck it currently does now)

I'm afraid this will break my favorite browser plugin, DAZ Deals: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/106296/announcing-daz-deals-browser-add-on/p1

Would be nice to be able to do without sale announcements which aren't. Like today's 4-hour flash sale, in which nearly nothing shows as being on sale, whatsoever. Not on the store page, not in the cart.

Don't know which 4-hours they are talking about, but right now isn't one of them.

It would be so nice if they just put a darn time frame up on these, rather than a vague "4 hours" which could have started at any time.

People can't even get a cart checked out before some of these sales end...that has to stop.

nothing at all in that sale is discounted for me, I must already own whatever is cheeky

and who knows how long it will remain or worse if the price you see on the paypal page will match the invoice

that's something that seriously needs fixing

Actually, the important question is "how are these preparations different from the last one"? I remember the announcements before the switchover, and I also remember* the blackout that lasted for days, the "who am I logged in as this time" game, the berserk wishlist and cart prices, etc. Claims of "it'll work this time" will require extraordinary proof (and a bit more notice that it's about to happen).

It would also be nice to know what new or different features the new store is supposed to have.

    * In the same way I remember my appendicitis when I was eight...

I am worried about the Daz Deals plugin. I use it every day. I REALLY hope that @Ati and @Overdrawn will be able to get Daz Deals to work with the new site software.

We've already reached out to Daz and begin discussions around how we might prep for the new site. We're certainly keeping an eye on the future. :)
