Thanks, I hate it.
I think it's fine. Thanks for the page thing on the carousel. At least you know which one is the current offer ;).
Laurie
You forgot to tell the people who design the banner panels. The page dots are in exactly the same place as the sale conditions small print.
And now that there's only one panel visible at a time, EVERY ONE OF THEM has the left/right arrows covering over BOTH middle sides of the panel. It used to be only the panels at the start/end of the carousel that had this problem, and only on one side each.
Please give your web design people clear no-text no-important-info areas, AND ENFORCE THEM.
Why did the old style "need to be replaced"? Apart from the abrupt zoom-back-to-the-front some people mentioned having problems with upthread, IMHO there wasn't anything actually wrong with it.
Edit: And the SHOP NOW button — it's covering the opposite bottom corner of all the panels. This must be a no-text area as well.
The fastgrab banner is a bit misleading.
70% off new items?
Thank you so much @cpage and I've noticed a big improvement in the layout when I've accessed it this evening on my iPhone via chrome :)
The pager makes reading the banner hard:
Yes this is something we saw as well. We are going to be more careful of that going forward.
New banner layout finally showed up for me today. I'm on the latest Firefox btw.
As noted above, yeah the 'dot navbar' in the lower left corner is blocking text on the coupon offer. Just tried using the coupon on gift cards, no joy. I can barely make out the 'excludes...' text under the dots, I'm guessing it reads gift cards, which ATI's picture shows.
I suppose the new layout is OK. I might visit the plat club page a bit more often, rather than just directly going to the plat club freebies page via autocomplete a bit more often now, as the PC+ banner is now continuously displayed in the topbar....
Yes, it should read 'New Items Added Daily'
That's what it's called! Thanks :)
And good job on the improvements (minus the covered text issue already mentioned) - the pager and pause on hover make this a lot better :)
The pagers at the bottom are hard to see against some background colors -- look at the current #2 and #4.
We're going to have to mention the dreaded t-word more often, aren't we? The one that web designers everywhere nowadays seem to have a blind spot for.
Yes, I mean T-E-S-T. It can't be that hard, can it?
Can it?
I didn't wander through all four pages of this, but I did notice the recurring theme of "I see big changes", "Really? I don't see any."
Did anyone try resizing your browser window on larger screens? You will discover something interesting. DAZ has made the layout "responsive". The layout hasn't changed that much on large windows: most of the changes set in below a certain size.
Mobile behavior is still quite buggy on an iPad. Lots of flickering, lots of the scrolling actions fighting against tablet swiping behavior, lots of times when you open something in a new tab, that tab behaves as if you're not logged in.
It is still awful on the iPad. I completely missed the new coupon offer because it didn't show up first in the rotation which is still too fast. I only found out about it from a mention in the forums. The rotations move too fast to even get the coupon codes. I have to quickly screenshot it before it goes away. Sometimes I miss offers entirely. This new layout is unusable on the iPad and that's where I do all my shopping!
I'm amazed how many art tools and content vendors have sites that are iPad hostile (or iPad software offerings that are dreadful. Or both).
A very high percentage of us carry iPads just about everywhere, and we love the heck out of them. If DAZ contacts me, politely, I'll give them a thorough critique, free.
I see it as them doing us a favour
Does this sort of design work at all on anything that doesn't use a mouse/pointer, or at an absolute bare minimum, a trackpad? Hovering the pointer over something presents one or two issues if there isn't actually an onscreen pointer. Back to the drawing board, I hope.
Encouraging us to buy content at the-site-that-must-not-be-named?
The mobile version should probably have a 'pause' button on the scroller (but then that'd probably cover more of the writing).
Something like slick or owl slider would support tablets and phones.
And here is what I see on Chrome (I've already sent this to CS, so thay may have passed on my ticket info):
I have impaired vision, so the new layout is almost unuseable for me.
Thank you for adding those "pager"(?) dots. Very helpful!

Hopefully, future slides will properly allow for those dots. So nothing important will be placed where they are, and no coloring will make them seem to vanish.
PS - Also, please bear in mind that some of us must use an add-on that darkens the site's background (in my case, to avoid triggering migraines). So I see those dots in black. If the "default" shows them white, then perhaps ... the "optimal" solution for new slides' background tones might be strong or mid-range colors??
Anyhow, hope everyone has a wonderfully creative day.
I finally got the new layout today. Thankfully I didn't experience the previous issues as others in this thread have mentioned over the past few weeks. I actually like it, and I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the changes @Daz_cpage has recently made. I'm using the latest Firefox browser by the way.
The images in the carousel seem to be well laid out as the sliders and arrows aren't covering any text or objects in the pictures.
I got the new layout and find it annoying. I preferred side-scrolling to see what all promos were active.
