New Store Layout - Fan or no?

EDITED: I was wondering if everyone was now seeing the new carousel mode on the Daz store homepage rather than the old scrolling banner style, and what opinions were if you are? I'm still seeing the old style occassionally on my iPhone but otherwise consistently the new style on my laptop using Chrome.
Original post: Ever since the home page for the store had a little switcheroo from scrolling to carousel mode a few weeks ago (well, for some of us -- I've noticed some report their view is the same as always) I've noticed that the daily new release sales banners are remaining active for 2-4 days rather than disappearing to be replaced by the next daily sales banner at Daz midnight.
Basically, I think this is awesome. It is allowing us to take time considering the new release sale offers, potentially stack offers in multiple banners together, and IMO generally just have more fun shopping and discovering PAs catalogs!
Perhaps this won't be permenant, but in any case I'm loving it and wanted to draw attention and say THANK YOU DAZ!

That's the normal, actually, some of the special sales like PC+ just change the normal for a period.
BTW, the shop page / carousel still looks weird in IE11, but I guess many don't use that anymore (I do because I have a very useful plugin for it).
Oh, interesting. I've not been a member long, but I used to only see 1-2 new release banner at a time alongside fast-grab and freebies
Hence why I'm delighted to be seeing 1-4 banners now, with them staying active for 2-4 days each. Must have been the time that I joined!
I've changed the subject of this thread because your reply actually raises a far more interesting topic for discussion: are we all now seeing the new store page style, and if so how is it sitting with everyone?
I'm not seeing anything new in FireFox and Chrome, to me it looks like it has for several years. If there was a temporary change I didn't notice it because I rarely use these browsers for the DAZ site which, contrary to many other sites these days, still works fine in IE11 (except for the shop page which has been looking odd for the last 2-3 weeks).
Here's how it looks to me in FireFox and Chrome (and also IE11, until recently):
I prefer the store layout that had a number of promo images then the Fast Grab and Weekly Freebies all scrolling along. It allows me to see a number of promos at a time and, more importantly, has a "beginning" and an "end" which means I can tell which promos are more recent. I absolutely hated the one that poped up a week or two ago that had one panel on the left that rotated through each of the promos one at a time and a panel on the right that had the Fast Grab and Weekly Freebie (and maybe Platinum Club) links just stuck there.
I usually stay logged into the site but had to restart my browser while battling those stupid webp images. When I logged into Daz3d afterwards I got stuck with the new "short" banner that I don't like. I had to logout and back in again over and over with varying delays trying to get back to the one I want. Very annoying. (using Firefox on a desktop).
I'll try to attach a pic of the one I like:
I only had the new layout for two days. It didn't look bad in itself, but it did take up quite a lot of space, and the products were not visible at all without having to scroll down. That was my only complaint about it.
I prefer the old carousel.
If anyone has not seen the new format, then you can do so by logging out, or alternatively open the store page in an Incognito window.
I am guessing the are rolling the new layout gradually across the user base. Currently I still see the old format when I am logged in.
I don't care either way.
Just saw the new banner for the first time this afternoon btw.
it be comin round the mountain when it comes
+100
I just started getting the new format and already i HATE it !
It is very difficult to completely read the new offers when they are only on the screen for a few seconds at a time.
If you hover your mouse over one of the scroll buttons, the image stops changing.
I like the aesthetic of it and always having something like Fast Grab immediately available.
My only gripe is that the main banner is too big on my mobile (Samsung Galaxy S8 I think, via Chrome), so it's exceedingly difficult for me to manually rotate the banner. When I click on the right, it just shows me the right side of the banner instead of the next banner.
The new format should work better on my phone. The scrolling top banner was always hyperactively fast on my Android and trying to click on the right banner before it zipped past was like watching Rocky Balboa trying to catch a chicken.
I had been seeing the new layout all the time, and now it's back to the old version. Weird!
The new one scrolls too fast and when you hover your mouse on it, it doesn't stop scrolling, so it tends to change while I am still trying to read. It's also more difficult to see if there are any flash sales or to figure out the order as you have to scroll through everything first. For those reasons I prefer the older format. That said, the older one was a bit annoying after they moved platclub because you no longer knew when to stop scrolling left before it flipped over.
Personally, I think the new format could be great if the latest 5 sales were static, like plat club, free and fast grab are now, and everything else, that's kinda old news, was moved to a smaller rotating banner. That way we would be able to copy coupon codes easily and would see right away if there were any flash sales. That would probably be difficult to maintain though, so I doubt it will happen.
Same here @Torquinox ! We are always so alike haha
I had been seeing the carousel banner since March Madness and now with the 2nd Couponia coupon code it's suddenly switched back to the scrolling banner! But the question is: for how long?
'Round and 'round forever, like those demonic teacups at Disneyland (Me aged 5: "I want to get o-o-oofff!!")
Thank you very much! That was the only problem I had withthe new banner.

Looks like they've fixed the IE11 problem now so it shows the good old banner again (I prefer that too).
I don't like it. It doesn't look as professional to me.
I agree, it's one more complication in an already massively way-too-complicated bells-whistles-gongs-and-kazoos website. The previous layout where the entire banner rotated all together was much easier to read.
Yes, I'm going to ask it again — the same question I always ask whenever the DAZ web design team does something (not)smart. Do they not teach useability in web design school any more? This is IMHO just like every other major change to the DAZ website (including The Magento Disaster of several years ago), a step backwards.
The only positive thing I can say is that at least this one is only annoying, not (another) outright disaster.
Not a fan.
I'm just now (not yesterday) seeing a new layout - where once was a scrolling banner with all the things scrolling side-by-side, I've now got FG/PC+/Freebies banner images in a static bit on the right, and everything else in a scrollable frame on the left. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think the old way made it easier to see everything - each day's sales page gradually moved over and eventually dropped off - made sure I didn't miss anything (as a PA, I like that).
This newer way looks a little neater at first glance but isn't as user-friendly IMO (agree with SpottedKitty above here).
...personally I like the new format, I found the auto scrolling somewhat bothersome the the eyes, particularly when it would reset to the beginning.
I think I need to clarify, I've always hated the old way, liking the new way.
I agree it's easier on the eyes. Also easier to get at the PC+, FG, and Freebies pages.
The old store is still better regarding those items due to the addition of some unnecessary elements.
freebie page: has a large image of Victoria at the top. You have to click on a link or scroll down to see the freebies.
FG: again an image at the top
PC+ page: AGAIN unnecessary images. The top of the page tries to sell you on PC+ membership. The middle one contains new PC+ releases. The bottom has the PC+ freebies most people care about. The old store was way better.
I guess I miss the simplicity of the old store. That was great if I'm trying to check the store on my phone due to mobile data caps.
I absolutely hate the rotating carousels. However, I've worked with a number of different web designers for years and if there's one thing that's been consistent, it's that not a single one of them could stand to leave something that's working well already alone. In fact, despite all the added animations, scrolling banners, etc. that are on most sites now, the end result is that most of them do a worse job of actually presenting the product in a simple and easy to understand way than the average web site from ten years ago did. Seriously, does anyone actually think that the current DAZ and Renderosity sites are as intuitive and easy to use as what they both had ten years ago? How many windows do you have to go to to get to the Menu section on most restaurant web sites now? The latest version of Amazon Prime's video doesn't let you search for products in any kind of coherant fashion, and the new versions of Audible and IMDB (both also owned by Amazon) are even worse. However, if they didn't keep monkeying with the sites, then why would a company need to keep a team of web designers on the payroll?
