Baby Caryn "out of the box":

^Ok, that looks much better - but the skin is still a little odd - maybe try your altern8 on it ;)

    First quick render.

About 5 minutes dial spinning and a lot lot more time getting clothing to look good, ended up using a Genesis Tee shirt and the basic wear shorts, the Onsie looked terrible.

^That looks better too - particularly the head.

Seems they need some tweaking but can work as young babies (rather than newborns) just fine :)

I found it easy to make a cute toddler/older baby. So this is a useful base. Here's the setting. Make your own child!

Altern8 gave her a nice rosy tint.

    ^Nice work - altern8 definitely had a good effect there :)

dForce Onesie for Genesis 8 -  Onesie as a name for a baby suit is a resistered trademark of Gerber.  There is no mention of it being licensed by Gerber so I am guessing no one at DAZ realised this?

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-onesie-for-genesis-8

I had to check, it’s actually Onesies with the plural

From Gerber's website - "The Onesies® trademark, or any confusingly similar variation thereof (e.g., “Onesie” or “Onezees”), may not be used as a generic descriptor or a noun; it should be used only as an adjective, when referring to the Onesies® brand by Gerber®"

    http://www2.gerberchildrenswear.com/HOME/GerberChildrenswearBrandUsage/tabid/128/Default.aspx

I looked up the trademark Gerber took out in TESS. They have the trademark on their logo and on physical clothing, digital isn't mentioned at all so the vendor might be okay. The TESS lookup had one other company with onesie as the trademark for a product that was approved, beer for some reason. I can't actually wrap my head around the use of onesie and beer together. Most trademarks were abandoned and it's possible Gerber challenged them but all those were in the same limited items of clothing.

Trademarks aren't as broad as some people might think. Companies have to be very specific in their useage to file. Disclaimer, I'm not a trademark attorney and this is all supposition on my part based on big trademark battles in recent months in the writing world and their respective outcomes.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unregistered_trademark a trademark is a trademark.  First use applies no need to register . It's like a copyright. When the pen hits the paper it's protected. Official registration is not necessary if time related usage can be proven. I have some copyrights and trademarks registered. The gov makes sure they pass the test. It's infalible. But the truth is non-registered trademarks, are just as relevant providing they 'pass the usage test'.

I really wish the kids came with a head dial and different legs. If they did I'd buy them. I have bought multiple items from the vendor's catalogue but am passing on this one. Maybe daz could address the issues with some dials. If they could and would, this could be a best seller because everyone wanted a G8 baby ... a normal looking baby.

Well, that's disappointing. I'm unable to separate the head from the body with XMorphs. Not entirely sure why. Could be that the only morph that's exposed to the script is a controller that controls lots of other morphs, but that's just a guess. Until I can separate them, it's gonna make things much more difficult.

    Laurie

X-Morphs can't touch them because they're primarily HD. There's a non-HD aspect in there, somewhere (... I think), but because the controller doesn't decouple them, X-Morphs won't work.

The only thing I've tried that works on primarily-HD characters is the Daz developer tools that come with Studio and this Youtube video  tutorial: Headsplit D-Former by benalive.

I was able to use it to separate a couple of characters that X-Morphs couldn't deal with, because the developer tools will only deal with the non-HD part, which I'm pretty sure has to be there but isn't surfaced by the controller.

Gage is an interesting start - moreso the last couple of promos with the longer ears: https://www.daz3d.com/gage-for-tobyn-8-hd-for-genesis-8-male

    Hi,

Here's a test render of the Genesis 8 baby girl. I modified the base model with several morphs, particularly Rarestone's and used a different materials set on her instead of the base. I think it was Ichigo (by Crocodile Liu). Anyhow, I rarely use the base model as is, I modify.

Wow @stormlyght, that's gorgeous! Great job!

Loving all the baby renders! Glad someone mentioned Gage, he's got some neat fantasy options.

I'm knee deep in promo renders at the moment. Hoping to play with the babies and post something soon.

A couple of quick mixes. I added fibermesh brows and made some tweaks to the skin with Altern8.

Caryn 50%, Teen Josie 50%, +Breasts Gone morph:

Caryn 50%, Charlotte 50%, Head Propagating Scale -12.5, +Breasts Gone morph:

Both images have had the contrast adjusted in Photoshop.

    Cute kids, imo. :)

Don't forget there is a nice set of baby poses released when 3DU released the Toon Generations for Genesis 8.

Hey!  Now that looks like a baby!  Great hair, too!

I'm disappointed in the eyebrows. They are really hard to see, Anyone have any luck with fibermesh on Tobyn? I tried autofiting the girl character's but it crashes studio.

The renders in the promo are incredibly creepy and made me kinda want to quit DAZ for a second. Maybe not a bad thing.

  • They kind of look like babies with adult faces.

A quick render with Baby Ella.  I know lighting isn't right but this was just quickly set up.

Is the Sixus' Gen 8 baby at Daz? Can't find it.

No, unfortunately it is not. It is over at the "R" store (the more family friendly one).

    No at the R. store

Thanks, all, so much!! I was wondering when I couldn't find it. I stick to shopping here on Daz anymore. I think with all the morphs, this baby is workable, seeing all the images folks are putting out.

    Oh, those fairies are adorable!

All these lovely renders are swinging me a bit towards having a baby (?!?)

I still can't really see why I would need both though, what is different between male and female babies? (as I assume it is not the obvious!)

    Daz is like real life:

What you say, "Oh, a little baby!", what you're thinking "Yikes!"

The short version is "in order to mix them with existing G8M/G8F morphs".

Or to use G8F/G8M clothes without the need for autofit

  • Ummm... I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that a) babies shouldn't wear skimpwear and b) G8F/G8M don't need onesies...
