Is that why I do not like decaf coffee.  I like the buzz regular coffee gives but not at night.

Well, they have to do the study otherwise we might not know if people are standing where there are places to sit, and we need to know things like that or we might not be able to get through the day.

I often have to work through the night in my regular job.  I'll drink decaf then in the hopes that I might be able to go to sleep soon.  But if it looks bad from the beginning, it's high-test for me.  smiley

My mom wants me to send my resume today.  I have not finished editing my resume.  She is in a hurry for some reason.  Fine, I'll just send it after I finish eating lunch.  I doubt if anyone will call me.

First time using the Vray 2Sided Material. While I like the translucency on some of the leaves (always a neat effect!) I think I kinda botched the specular haha

Non-complaint:  I dug out my CD of Brahms Piano Concerto #1 performed by Alfred Brendel (my favorite) and reviewed it in preparation for hearing this piece played at Chautauqua this summer (60 days from now, Wheee)

I fell in love with Alfred Brendel's recording of it from the early 1970s and there are a couple places where it brings tears to my eyes.  Great music almost always has a musical swell or two in it and he nailed them in this recording.  A well executed swell will pull emotions to the top, send shivers down your spine, and send you soaring.  It is more than just a crescendo (increasing volume), it's like a strong individually higher wave that lifts you forcefully and smoothly above the other waves of the sea to a higher vantage point, to a place of clarity.surprise

    Brahms: Piano Concerto #1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9H6oisgQNQ

1st Movement -- 0:00, energetic.  Piano enters at 3:35.  Good example of a swell begins at 20:22 and coasts to 21:00 then builds to 21:40, then builds higher to a peak and passes away by 22:00 and the movement ends at 22:35

    2nd Movement -- 22:44, slow.

3rd Movement -- 36:30 Lilting, energetic.  There's a small example of what I call a swell, between 37:00 and 37:15.  Then there are several small waves of intensity leading to the finale' which begins at about 44:08.

I missed an opportunity 30 years ago to hear Alfred Brendel perform this at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.  I had my ticket but family matters came up and I had to rush to Florida on the day of the performance.  I have still not heard Brahms' 1st piano concerto live yet so I'm ready!  Chautauqua Institution's "Artist in Residence" Alexander Gavrylyuk will be performing it this year and he is soooo good.heart  Actually, for a few weeks early last year he was scheduled to perform it, but after I had bought my ticket I noticed that the schedule had changed and he played some other piece.indecision  Either he wasn't ready or the orchestra didn't feel they were ready.  But again this year it's on the schedule so I've got my fingers crossed.  Chautauqua program notes: https://chq.org/calendar/eventdetail/19318/chautauqua-symphony-orchestra-brahms-piano-concerto-no-1

    Johannes Brahms: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannes_Brahms

Another composer who was good at swells was Tchaikovsky.  His 5th Symphony in particular.smiley

A side note about pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk, he played at the "BBC Proms" a year or two ago performing the Rachmaninoff 3rd piano concerto.  Tremendous performance, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jC6cY4J5c1I but I heard him perform it a couple years earlier here at Chautauqua.yes  Yes, here in podunksville! surprise

You hire someone to pick up and deliver.enlightened  I have the same problem when buying big items.  Sometimes the store doesn't deliver but if you ask, then they can often recommend a delivery person.  Ask friends or neighbors.  Search Yellow Pages.  Local web search.  Or if desperate, you grab your skateboard and rig the door up as a sail. devil

$1000??? How far away are you from a Home Depot???  Order it, have them deliver to your nearest Home Depot store (assuming there is one within 50 miles) and have someone pick it up from there (that's what "store pickup" means).  I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill.  Either that or someone's taking you for a ride.

Or ask a friend to drive and rent a truck from Home Depot.  They have them usually for $25 for a couple hours, I think.  The price may have gone up, but it didn't go up to $1,000!!!  I did that once to bring home a grill that I bought, and a few other things...none of which would fit in the trunk of my car.

Got a render going that I'm pretty sure Vue could have done so very much quicker. Maybe I should have tried doing the scene there instead, but I insisted on doing it all inside Cinema 4D aaaaa...

Or, maybe my computer just really is that bad at handling these computer graphics thingies haha

Either way, I'm pretty sure I could have optimized the C4D scene a bit more, but most of the things I look up on X or Y topic are for several versions past what I'm using so I kind of have to just wing it.

I'm an old phart with a cane, and don't have any problems. I can fit a 4'X8' sheet of plywood in my car.
But then, I drive a hearse.
Maybe find a friend with a pickup? Or a boat/trailer? Just stick it in the boat.

Random thing.  Probably should try using Vue for this instead but eh. Actually probably should since I think this render made it quite clear that my laptop doesn't approve of trying to render fog like this. Vue doesn't need to do that whole "Encase the whole scene in a volumetric object" thing after all.

Really wish I had xStream, but I'm long past the point where I can get my hands on a copy, and the current Subscription-model Vue only supports Cinema 15 earliest. Man it sucks being behind haha

Had a version where I put a flare in the image but looking at it for a while.... As cool as it was, it didn't match up with the shadows (And I think the sun in the HDR was off to the side off-camera anyway)  so I took it out.

*EDIT* Gonna re-render it with the 'Scatter GI' option disabled. Not even sure how much that affected the scene itself but the manual does say that it is rather slow. However the manual also says there's a more time-effective alternative to this option..... That isn't available in my now archaic Vray 1.8.  Oh well.

Ooh, ouch!  BW Parkway on a rainy Saturday, possibly slightly lighter traffic, but still have to deal with insane people on wet roads at 70+ mph. frown  I don't miss it.

Did you order it yet? From my experience, most things I order are free home delivery as long as it’s over $45... I’ve ordered big heavy things like fence rails and 5x5 aluminum posts which they delivered... I only order online if it’s not an in-store item, and I only do store pick up if it’s under $45...

But, I looked at HD’s storm doors and since you said it’s under 200 bucks (assuming dollars not male deer), I’m guessing it’s an EMCO door... from what I see (logged out at HD) they all seem to be available for home delivery.

I’m also assuming it’s not a discontinued or clearance item, in which case that may effect delivery, but I don’t think it usually does.

If you haven’t ordered it yet, tell me the item/model number and when I go to Home Depot I can ask the more competent people I know at the service desk if there is a solution to your problem.

Your closest HD is probably the Huntington Station one, which is honestly one of my least favorite, but then again neither is the one closest to me... I think I’ve been almost every Home Depot (and Lowes) on Long Island at least once, some are way better than others... often I’ll have to “Home Depot Surf” if I need something right away... that involves going from one HD to another to collect the parts and supplies necessary... that can really suck.

Home Depot will deliver anything you buy.  Even if delivery isn't "free" for an item, they'll still put it on a truck and bring it to you.  $70 delivery fee (in my area) gets me up to four "slots" on a truck.

Don't just assume you can't get your door delivered.  I'm here to say you can.  I've had landscape blocks delivered many times, along with concrete mix and just about anything else they can strap onto a flatbed trailor.  Talk to the manager.  All HD stores are pushing the delivery option HARD.  Like every other business except maybe the ice cream man who plays christmas carols in your neighborhood in July needs to compete with Amazon or they will go bankrupt.

I prefer Lowe's.  I find they have better quality items most of the time.  If you haven't already ordered the door, see if Lowe's has custom sizes available.
