How would you describe in words, not pictures, a cat (or dog) to someone (an alien??) who has never seen a cat (or dog)?

I ask, because you all seem bored... angel

..Cat: cute small furry creature with pointed ears, large slit pupil eyes, long whiskers that project outward from its muzzle, a tail, and razorblades that come out of the toes on each of it's four feet as well as has the ability to turn it's body to a gelatinous quality at will if it doesn't want to be grabbed or held.

Also very fascinated by paper wound around cardboard tubes and has a compulsion to roll it all off and scatter it about the floor..

...had to do that today myself. That late winter we had really socked me in the wallet.  Thought after the mild December and January we had I could get by without having to turn the heat on this year. .

...ugh started coughing last night, made for a fitful night's sleep,  Head is all stuffed up, joints and bones ache more than usual, which makes the situation all the more intolerable.

Now that the weather is finally getting nice, that is when I have to get sick.

Complaint:  Old brain, not think right, brain hurtz. sad  Still trying to clean up my system but in the middle of it, I didn't notice that MS had slipped in several updates that started happening when I rebooted my machine.  Long story short,... the updates boogered up and sat there for 5 hours accomplishing nothing.  Went to bed and let it run all night and still no cigar.  Forced a power down.  It "completed" the updates upon rebooting but then immediately reboot itself again but finally booted up and I logged in.  Somewhere in that "long story short" I had rolled back the system to about 4 days ago which solved some of my problems.  But now of course the system wants to re-install those updates that failed the first time around.  HOWEVER, I have managed to obtain up-to-date backups of my personal data and most of my usual applications work OK.  BUT, just in case, yesterday I made an unscheduled mini-adventure trip to Erie, Pennsylvania (60 miles away to the West) to the nearest BestBuy store and picked up a new computer tower.  It savaged my savings account but I'm going to need one soon anyway.  HOWEVER, panicing over the bloody carcass of my savings account I haven't opened the new computer box yet (I have 14 days to return it) and have redoubled my efforts to revive my old computer or at least get prepared to completely rebuild the OS from scratch, locate all my precious 3rd party software, and remember all the twiddly configuration crap that has to be done.  Something I haven't done in a couple years and my old brain has been leaking info.  Brain hurtz. sad

Ancillary complaint: All this user account creation, data moving, MS updates, OS rollback, always seems to forget where my desktop icons are placed on the desktop.  They're all present but all squashed neatly in vertical rows on the left side of the screen.  Not a problem if you have just a few but my desktop is a vast complicated spatial database.  The location of the icon is information in itself, they've been organized in my particular way for decades and now there are many many of them.  Dragging them back into place multiple times is a pain. frown  That, and my InternetExplorer "Favorites Bar" organization.  Everytime I move or merge my vast list of favorites they get "helpfully" arranged into alphabetical order instead of remembering which ones were of highest priority and I have to go hunting down the top 10 or 15 of them to get them back across the top of my browser page. angry

Non-complaint: I feel lucky that I procrastinated so long in buying my ticket for the symphony in Cleveland tomorrow that I missed out on parking space under the building and decided to not go.  Because despite the last two days being perfect Spring weather in the 50sF, today is typical March surprise.  Lots of heavy gloppy snow from here to Cleveland.  Not ideal for a 300 mile trip.  Saved a bunch of money.yes

'Nother non-complaint:  And since I'd saved a bunch of money I felt monetarily lightheaded and rushed out yesterday to buy a new computer.  But then regretted it because of the slaughter job it did to my savings account.  But now, my old computer seems to be nearly back to full working order again (knock on wood) and I have no real need for the new computer.  The new computer is still in the unopened box, and I have my receipt.  All I need now is a little more confidence in my old computer and one day in the next two weeks with clear roads back to Erie, Pennsylvania to return the computer and heal my savings account.yes
