Major, major Complaint: The Cathderal de Notre Dame is burning and appears to be completly desroyed along with all its art. The only savining feature seems to be that some of the bronzes had been removed for the renovation. And this during Easter week. crying crying

Fortunately it is far from completely destroyed, though there is major damage.

Yes, thankfully the firefighters were able to save parts of the building and much of the stone structure.

That we will. It will take time, and we may not be able to replace some of the things which have been destroyed, but since the structure is still there Notre Dame will definitely be repaired.

..been pretty preoccupied with the Notre Dame situation most of the day.  Also was up late rebuilding one of my characters and searching for freebies that I lost in the HDD meltdown , so woke up a bit late this morning.

Apologies Ms. Bad Wolf for the now belated birthday wishes.

..agh, one of the big tragedies of the HDD meltdown was the loss of a number of now discontinued freebies including all the special ones Mec4D released back in 2015 duringher B'day celebration. I had moved the folder which contained the zips to the ill fated HDD to reclaim space on the boot drive shortly before the crash.  When I pulled out the DVD backups of older ones, most of the files somehow were corrupted.

I found the the Mec4D thread, but all of the links have since expired, including the one to the neutral studio ambient HDR which I used regularly for proofing characters.   Total pain in the bum.

That's why I don't bother with flowers and just keep my vases on display, they rarely die. indecision

I prefer live fish to flowers.  My fish last longer than flowers.

The regular ink (verses the XL version) lasted me from end of February till April, so hopefully my new ink that I got (also not XL version) will last me a month or two, right?

Why is it so hard for me to go into petsmart with money in pocket to keep money in pocket?  I went to petsmart Sunday and they got some of my money and I left with fish in bags and a grin on my face.

Belalted birfday wishes to the 'wolf  as well;  and speaking of which my brother's birfday is todaaaay :o

Unrelated:  Finally getting my sleep back in order. I had to switch to being up at nights for a month or so to help my grandpa while he recovered from a broken elbow. He'd give me a call in the night if he needed something like pain medication, some toast, getting up in the middle of the night, etc.  Then I'd sleep during the day and other family would help him with those things. During the night that wasn't as possible, but I've got experience with being awake at night so I volunteered.

He's in much better shape now, and already back to working (Does tax and accounting stuff). I still help out with stuff when nobody else is around, but he doesn't need assistance getting out of bed or etc anymore.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes!

  • I know somebody who smashed her elbow in her mid 90s.

She began a sharp decline and passed away just a few months later.  It's hard for many of us to believe how badly a broken arm can disable you from the simple things such as getting out of bed, dressing yourself, cooking, or even using the bathroom.  Up until that time, that lady was one heck of a firespark.

She was all there mentally and she was an undefeated champion when it came to being up on modern cultural things.  And her hilarious risque jokes had even the most religious people rolling around laughing, all while the little kids were none the wiser.  There's a skill to that!

The world will miss her, that's for sure.

...twenty nine years ago I slipped on ice after getting off a bus and dislocated my right elbow.  That was painful and debilitating enough. Had to use a sling and do everything left handed (including write and I usually use my right hand for that) for a couple months.

Terribly sorry to hear that, and she does indeed sound like she was a great person.

All things considering, it's nothing short of a miracle that my grandpa didn't have it worse than he could have. He was walking along the side of a stage and fell down (It was a three... Maybe four foot drop?)  and recovered relatively quickly.  With his age, that could have gone a whole lot worse.

On a slightly more positive note,  I've been working on this drawing for the past couple of days. Just need to ink the Top-View and Wings and I'll be done :D

Its the ferrets... they run a sophisticated criminal network... Basically they drug you, put a bag of fish in your hand and send you on your way after they clean out your cash...

Its sorta like the thing the wallabies were doing at Bunnings in Australia... only that involved sausage sizzles... crafty critters.

Complaint:  Threw my back out again last night.crying  However, I was able to quickly recover.  So, I'm being extra careful today to not go 'round the twist. frown

Non-complaint:  Had to go to the post office this morning to pick up some cables I ordered from Amazon and also, to my surprise, saw that one of my recent mineral purchases from an on-line auction had arrived.  Yay!  Nice little crystal of Aquamarine.  Pretty, pretty.  My precioussss.

'Nother non-complaint:  Radio in car was playing Brahms 2nd Symphony.heart  I was going to gush about it here in the forums but after listening to about 4 versions on YouTube I couldn't find one that was as impressively performed as the one I have in my library or the one I heard on the radio.  Meh indecision  However, since I was in the mood, I decided to gift to you a link to something of Brahms' that you may be more familiar with.  The "Academic Festival Overture" recognizable as the music behind the disasterous float parade in the finale of the 1978 comedy movie "Animal House".  It's only 10 minutes, take a trip down memory lane if you're old enough.  Or discover it if you've never heard of it, then go watch the movie.
