Is anybody else facing some problems with his eyebrows? When I load Christian, I get an error message with something about duplicate IDs. I took a screenshot. Those eyebrows do not load correctly an in my Content Library I don't have a preview pic of Christian. Any Ideas why this happens? Oh, I tried to deinstall, update and install severall times with the same results.

I have exactly the same issues. I install with Daz Connect. I also have a familiar problem with the dforce Biker Outfit having corrupted files, (it's ok with manual install) which seems to happen with at least one item in every pro bundle. I'll be putting in yet another ticket to customer support.

I really like Christian's bundle characters! Bain and Hudson are RAWR! laugh

Heres one with Bain, Hudson, and Christian "out of the box":

Took a look at Christian, and I'm really not impressed. I'd get a new Hiro, or Kenji, but we have a pile of men like Christian already.

If somebunny doesn't get on that, I'mma break out Junpei.

I am surprised that a more modern take on a Hiro-like character wasn't done for the Toon Dwayne 8 bundle.

Like AllenArt, I installed via DIM. The figure and the eyebrows load without any issues, and the image shows up in Smart Content.

What you haven't told us is how you installed Christian 8. Do you use DIM, Daz Connect, or did you do a manual install? If you're using Daz Connect, you should contact Customer Service right away. as the issue could be how the install with DC is setup.

    Thanks for your answers.

Usually I use DIM and as this not worked, I also tried Daz Connect. Both the same.

Then I will contact the support.

    Confidence

    "Trust me, I've got this."

I dialed down Translucency to .45 manually, then raised the bump to 4.0 and normal maps to 2.0.  Interesting to see that the "out of the box" bump maps were at 3.0.  I'm used to them being a little lower, but given that this is an HD figure, I probably shouldn't be surprised.  As always, I love the FWSA textures.  The look great even when transferred to other characters!  Also the beard was a nice added bonus.  Probably get a lot of use out of that particular prop! laugh

Dawww That pout ...it makes me want to hug him. lol Cool render and quite an interesting take on "boy who didn't get what he wanted for Christmas". lol When boy = heavily tattooed and intimidating looking biker dude, that's when you know you've got something a bit unique. heheh Really neat idea and the render came out great. :)

Thank you!  And Christian here could use the hug, he's been really moody lately... laugh

  • Like I always do, I spent a few hours trying to morph Edward 8 into Christian to see if I could live without Christian.  And, as usual, it's close and I could probably have lived with my morph character.  But it's the broken nose that got me.  So I picked up Christian and then compared him to my morph.  Maybe they're brothers, cousins, who knows.  But not twins.  Christian on the left, Edward-morph on the right, each in their own textures.

Wow, good eye! You did manage to get really close with the shape! I think Christian's textures are awesome though, and it's not easy to find skin textures that look that good, imo. I think people focus a bit too much on shape alone and forget that it's the entire package of shape, normal and bump maps, texture maps, JCMs, MCMs, (and in Christian's case even fibermesh brows), etc that make the whole of the character. I'm surprised how much people just focus on the shape when that's just one part of what really makes a character.

I know. That's why I always end up buying the base characters, especially the ones that have features that are unique. I really like his hooded eyes, too, and the tattoo on his back is gorgeous. And I usually apply Altern 8, which I love, although these are just default.

Whenever I look at buying a character these days I ask myself 'apart from the morph what else do they bring to the table?' I tell myself I'm buying materials most of the time. I was surprised when I did some comparison tests on some of my characters, I put them all in the same pose and same materials. They all looked either like twins or or brothers. So I did more tests and used different materials on the same character in exactly the same lighting and pose. They looked very different in some cases. As you say shape is only a part of the character. It's a pitty there isn't more and better hair products for the guys as that makes a huge difference to the character.

I'm not sure if it's just my download, which I will try to redo, but the HD Add-On for Christian 8 comes out like grey/purple plastacine

    Same for me too.

Just out of curiousty, how many Gen 8 Pro bundles do you need to have bought previously in order to get the discount? I have bought 6 in the past...maybe not enough. Anyway, I have bought Christian 8 already, but not the Pro version because I didn't want the plastic looking clothes...but in hindsight it would have been cheaper if I had the discount. oh well, win some, you lose some.

Are you a Platinum Club Member? I get the banners a lot. Sometimes they're not much incentive compared to a free pro bundle but this time I got $80 of free stuff. I do have a lot of pro bundles now and find it hard to choose a free item sometimes. I think I've got every G8M pro bundle. I've taken free pro bundles just because they're free before. Sometimes the one I really want isn't there though and other times I've bought the pro bundle just because of the freebies not even wanting the new itme that much.

All my items are only from the linked category. They all worked for the first hour and a half after Daz midnite.

is that different, or do you mean GMT/UTC -7?

GMT/UTC -7 is conditionally synonymous with MST (Mountain Standard Time), which the USA state of Utah, and therefore Daz, is on during this time of year (first Sunday in November until the second Sunday in March).

I'm going to have to try this. I'm sure I've got at least half-a-dozen muscular, dark haired guys with blue eyes. If I had a big "comparables" image showing all the characters I've bought that are almost the same, it would help a lot to resist temptation.  Oh, yeah... that would work...  right....laugh  I just checked GypsyAngel's store and realized I've got 6 of her guys bookmarked and own another 7.  I should probably just start there. Oh, except for the Lilith 6 lookalikes. And, yes, to stay on topic, middle-aged white guys with character.

He kind of looks like what Leo 7 should have been: a tall, wiry, weathered looking man with angular features. But with noncrappy eyebrows and no jiggery pokery with the height dial.

I personally like Leo 7 a lot more than Christian 8, but I agree about sizing thing. I am disappointed there hasn't been more renders of Christian shared on this thread. Did he not sell well?
