First time posting a render here. I made a Cyborg LECS babe, please critique.

I love the general composition and lighting, but the three points I'd make are:

    1) Aside from it being somewhat gratuitous, the fit isn't actually very realistic unless she's vacuum sealed her clothes around her nipples.

That is what makes it stand out for me over any other render of a space cyborg wearing the same suit. I see that and I think tech like the spiderman suit Stark gave Peter where you hit the button and it shrinks to fit.

Yeah, I see the clipping on the hand. How would I improve the image quality? Just render longer? I only rendered it for 15 mins.

Change settings in the render settings tab. 15 minutes is very low for a completed render. Also size of the render makes a difference also.

How long it takes depends on your hardware - the total iteration count (with some considerations regarding the nature of the scene) is more important than the time when it comes to quality.

JPEG really isn't a great format for this type of thing, particularly in programs that don't give you full control of compression settings. It's best to render to something lossless like PNG and then convert to JPG later (using the highest quality settings you can afford) if you need a smaller file for uploading.

It also depends to some extent on what render settings you use. Personally, I've come to prefer denoising images as a post-processing stage rather than letting Daz handle it, as that way I can control the denoising by masking different areas.

Cool, I'll save to PNG from now on. I don't know anything about denoising, I'm a noob at this stuff.

Yeah, i'll just render longer, I have a good PC so it's not even that long.

Also, I'm not really seeing the artifacts? There is a light smoke plane in the front of the model, maybe you guys are seeing that?

No, this is absolutely low quality JPEG artefacting. Try zooming to 200% or so and then looking at her abdomen (lots of little squares of horizontal or vertical lines, or on the wall under the light on the right, where again there's various faint blotchy squares. You can also see a lines of light and dark across her chin and eyeballs, and similar square patterns in her hair. They're all aligned with the image rather than the surfaces, so it's a compression artefact in the image rather than an inherent part of those textures.

If you're having trouble seeing it, try running it through a fairly strong Unsharp Mask filter in your image editor of choice. The repeating square pattern is a lot more visible with a strength 2 (or 200%, depending on your program), Radius 1 mask, and would present serious issues with post-processing the image if you needed/wanted to, which is why it's always best to render to a lossless format with no artefacts and only use formats like JPEG for a final upload.

Just purusing the thread & saw Mattymanx's  posting Red and Black 2 & recognized The Gothic Library https://www.daz3d.com/the-gothic-library immediately even from that small snippet of stair case & window.  Wonderful set & one of my first to really dissect in order translate to Lightwave & it's new render engine. This was largely do to simply not having the hardware to take advantage of Iray in Daz Studio. I do now & might revisting these scenes.  But, I'm finding that I do have more control over a number of things that are really tedious in DS.  Anyway, gives me an excuse to post my more cozy take on the set:

I'm not sure if it was that particular type of stork but I remember visiting Vienna and then we went to visit the Donau-Auen National Park on the Slovakia border near Bratislava on Easter weekend and we got to see a stork & it's nest scene very much like your render. It was very cool to see.

Austria is in Europe. I thought you might live there given that looks almost identical the the scene we saw on that river.

Been a while since I've been on this Forum.....Having worked with horses for nearly 2 decades, I vividly remember the exhilarating feeling I got from galloping along a shore bareback, allowing this Powerful and Regal creature to go full throttle. I could feel the energy throughout it's entire body.....I tried the Daz Horse 2 at first, wanted to try out the Dark Knight textures, but the front section of the horse became horribly distorted when I applied a pose. Ended up switching to HiveWire Horse, applied the texture settings of the Dark Knight textures, then swapped out CWRW textures in the Diffuse only maps, and was thrilled with the results! I call this one Free Spirits......and yes, the rider is wearing a loin cloth.....

Great image, love the water effects. Personally I would have added the signature in the corner instead of under the horse.

The render could really use some DoF and bloom, but the lightning is nice :)

    I surrender, by markusmatern

I really like the blue light on the metal in the foreground. Using DOF might help focus the eyes on the action in the foreground, but I actually like it as is. And when I see bloom on lights like the saber and ceiling lights, it just reminds me of what everything looked like before I had cataract surgery! LOL

    (Liked in the gallery, too.)

Very good lighting; no small thing. I like the back-lighting from the window (or rim lighting?) giving her hair the halo effect.

Also, it looks almost like you used what Hollywood would call a "soft" lens (originally acheive by putting a very sheer gauze over the lens). Was that done in the render or in postwork or do I need to clean my glasses again?

Started out with another atmocam experiment, but ended up using more Aguja. And loads of material tweaks to big ol Cthulhu.
