Fairly spontaneous (and thus basic) render of "Rosaline Xenati", the Adept I'm playing in a Dark Heresy RPG, at the current point of the "adventure" we're in. (And by adventure, I mean "total mess that has driven three of her team mates insane").

And yes, that is impractical hair for combat, but while she's got some basic training (and far more experience than she'd like), she's not one of the team's combat specialists; it just happens we very spontaneously reached a "start cracking heads together" stage of the plot and she's once again in the unenviable position of being told to gear up and get dragged along for her non-combat expertise.

(Also, artistic licence. I wanted her to be something equivalent to mixed-race East Asian/West African, and I found that giving her straight hair tended to disguise the West African side of that).

    Yes a bit of experimenting wanted an organic spacecraft where the wings would flap and twist and the tail would bend, this was after watching a transformer movie Lol ;

    Trip with your Friends

    MSI GTX 1070

It's a little grainy, but I think it adds to the charm. Though I've been thinking of scaling it back a touch.

You can see some older versions here from my days of Daz Studio 1.6 and 3Delight: https://twitter.com/LevithorArts/status/1117666646347304962

Also, a really awesome one that is not technically Iray (it's Blender Cycles), but I like it more than the trip one I shared here. https://twitter.com/LevithorArts/status/1118792868842225664

DOF works well with that image. Very well done.

@Midnight_stories: Thank you so much for the kind comment. Your sci-fi is to die for.

@Robert Freise: Your image is stunning, my friend! I mean, really photorealistic with fantastic golden hour lighting. Thanks for the note and the recollection of your grandson. I dropped a glass jar of grasshoppers when I was 5 and cut open the artery on my wrist! To this day I have a scar that some people have confused as a suicide attempt LOL.

@Fishtales: Your "A Gentle Stream" image is one of my very favorites, so I really appreciate your compliment!

Guys, all these images are so good. I must be missing something. I try, really I do but...

For me, the big issue was lighting. I just wasn't understanding it. I bought a set of portrait lights and voila! Instant improvement. But more than that, in using them, and changing their parameters around, I learned a lot about how it works. I think the biggest breakthrough for me was discovering just how much you need to turn up the luminance from its default setting of 1500. 200,000 - 500,000 is a good amount.

Just discovered this thread, so apologies for the necropost above! Here's a render - the main character from a mystery story set in the 1930s. I'm having fun with skydomes and shaders!

Just taking my new RTX 2080ti out for a test drive, LOL I could never have fit 4 figures, clothing and hair along with a big environment and lots of instancing into my old gtx 970, very happy with the purchase.

As for the scene, take your pick, "slave trader", "spoils of war" or "fresh meat for the feast", LOL

Brag, brag, brag. (Read that: envy, Envy, ENVY!) lol

I think I'd name the image, "More Than He Bargained For." Two women? Oh is he in for a rough time!

Lookin' good, regardless of the title.
