Non-complaint #1:  Yay, my car's windshield wipers are no longer insane.  I went out for my normal Tuesday uptown chores and the wipers behaved themselves the whole trip.  yes

Non-complaint #2:  Yay, my SS deposit will be available tomorrow and I'll be rich, rich, rich again (mwa ha ha).smiley  (For about an hour as I fritter it all away on bills, bills, bills.) frown

Non-complaint #3:  Speaking of "earworms" (well, I was anyway), I was listening to the radio this afternoon and have discovered a candidate for one.  Try this:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tzc5ti-03PI  It's 6 minutes of happy happy that you don't know the name of, by nobody you ever heard of, but is a piece that you have probably heard many times in your life somewhere.    It's the Scherzo from Henry Litolff's "Concerto Symphonique No. 4 in D minor " (Scherzo has several meanings but in this case means a short piece extracted from a larger composition, often the 3rd movement of a 4 movement piece such as symphony or sonata.  I, for one, never knew who wrote this and as of this moment do not yet have it in my extensive library but plan to remedy that situation almost immediately.

    Henry Litolff: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Litolff

It's a scherzo in situ too. I have a recording of the whole thing, one of Hyperion's set of Romantic Piano Concertos (they also have 3 and 5 on another CD).

I've finally received my CDs of the four existing (#'s 2,3,4 & 5) Concerto Symphonique* by Henry Litolff  (#1 is apparently lost in the mists of timesad) and have had a chance to listen to them.  All four were a pleasure to learn about, quite entertaining and are very pianisticly demanding.yes  They've been gladly added to my CD library.  The "scherzo" of the #4 is the 2nd movement.  I found a Wikipedia article about it that reports that its position is sometimes 3rd and sometimes 2nd movement depending on which version and when it was published. indecision  They're all fun to listen to.  Some of the more animated parts of them remind me of Gottschalk's style.

    * Note:  I guess "Concerto Symphonique" means a concerto in symphony form.  i.e. a piano concerto written with the four movements of a symphony rather than the typical 3 movements of a concerto.

Yes, they are fun pieces - mine get played fairly often.

Wonder when my ride will arrive as it is cold outside.  Or it feels cold to me?

The cat looks like he's had a million miles put on him, and it's all in his eyes.

Lucky he found you :-)  I adore cats... and am violently allergic :O(

He was still sick then. He’s finished his antibiotics and now just on lysine. He’s starting to run around now and talks and eats a lot! laugh

The way those hairs arc all the way across the inside of his ears makes him look like he's at least part Maine Coon. The difference in his condition is clearly visible and he has you to thank for it. laugh

Major Complaint:  Arghhhh....  I received an email that starts out "Hi, this account is infected. ..."surprise  and goes on to say he has hacked my browser and installed malware to read my desktop and a keylogger and has captured video from my camera.  He claims to have copied files and passwords.  He wants me to deposit $1000.00 to his BitCoin account within 48 hours or he'll release embarrassing information to my email list people. frown

I'm half inclined to panic but I run both MalwareBytes and NortonSecurity.  It's true that in the last month Norton has snagged and decapitated two attempts by a browser add-on to run something sketchy and  MalwareBytes also flagged (and aborted) something the other day.  He claims to have had the programs running on my machine for a couple months.  But I'm not completely believing it yet.  Regardless, my camera is always covered and never turned on and I don't have $1000 so he's $#@&-out-of-luck on that demand. cheeky

The thing is, I often visit an erotic website, that was recently hacked.  The website techs forced everybody to change passwords because of the intrusion so I suspect that this hacker has my email account and simply sent me a scareware phishing attack email hoping to find an uberguilty schlub to simply hand over $1000 rather than risk having anybody know he swings "the-other-way".  Me, on the otherhand, anybody I correspond with is either a friend of similar persuasion or people I deal with at store catalogs and auction houses and they don't care about the color of my money or anything else about me except that I order things.  I'm not running for congress, my parents are dead.  So, let this hacker do his worst.  cheeky  See, there are some advantages to being old. smiley

However, I'm not a complete fool and I do have offline backups of my files.  I've turned on a seldom used computer, and gone to my on-line bank account, email accounts, store accounts, etc and changed passwords.  I'm going to abandon my current limited permissions Win7 "User" login account and create a new limited account using my full permission "Admin" account.  It's time I did that anyway, It's been at least 4 years since this computer had a major crash or overhaul.  I may even just rebuild the Win7-Pro OS from scratch and re-install clean copies of all my software anyway.  There's a lot of stuff I never use now anyway and I have been thinking of "cleaning up" the system for at least a year.

Any comments or thoughts or dire warnings?

You seem to have a good handle on this, LG.  Most likely, the person is doing just as you say, trying to scare you.  One thing I might do is try to look at the headers of that email and report your findings to some authority.  But, of course, there could be nothing but useless, spoofed, info there.

They probably get away with it because it's a religion.  For the high school thing, it may be a substitute for detention.

This is a known scam - I was a recipient of oen that was actually sent to an alias address that goes to mutliple people, so not associated with any one machine or person that could have been hacked.

Yeah, the headers are spoofed.  It was sent to me as me.  My camera is mounted on the top of my cork bulletin board slightly above and to the left of my display looking down at me, and currently somewhat misaligned.  So, even if my camera had been turned on and the lens uncovered, I'm curious to know what he would have been able to blackmail me about with nothing but the top of a looming balding wrinkled head obscuring the view. laugh

I am, however, more concerned about securing passwords at precious websites.  I have a LOT of them and all my passwords are different.

Firstly, LG, who are they going to report your (insignificant) misdeeds to... your pastor? cheeky (Psst, hey look at this miscreant, he collects semi-precious stones and glass figurines, and spends hours and days listening to classical music). There are only one or two "erotic" activities that can draw attention from law enforcement (that's as dire as it gets). These are phishing scams that prey on that knee-jerk reaction. It's like the IRS scam. So, dump the pics of Jason Momoa and relax. blushwinkangel

Change all your passwords, maybe put a watch on your account, especially the card you use for online (although if s/he had THAT level of access you'd be broke, not nervous) and be careful of online transactions for a while. As Dana said, look at your email headers your bank won't have "chase.bank.ru" as an email address.

Complaint: I am aggravated with myself when I do a render that I know should look much better, but I don't have the skill yet to make it happen. I have much more content than I do the skill to use it to its full potential, but I am determined that I am going to learn to be a better 3D artist.

You're off to a good start. Just my 2 cents worth, first, choose a direction. Your gallery shows a lot of portraiture (and quite good). So, is that where would you take this, or like me, tell stories? Then, break down the pathway into smaller steps (lighting, camera angles and focus, scene blocking, etc.) D|S is like Texas Holdem, it takes 10 minutes to learn and a lifetime to master (I'm still a noob after 10 years)..

Trust me, it's always hard to start a journey when all you can see are the obstacles.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, Etrigan. Yes, portraiture is my main interest. There are so many fascinating 3D characters, and I want to bring them up close and look at them, although I know doing a portrait is much more than moving a figure's face close to the camera. I  haven't figured out what all is entailed to make better, more realistic portraits. I've been playing with DAZ Studio since 2006 as a hobby, but I can see looking at all the amazing work in the user galleries that there is more to making a render than what I know how to do. And yes, I absolutely consider myself a noob! I think breaking the learning process down into smaller steps is good advice!

Non-complaint:  Wheeee....! My spectrum from my kitchen windowsill prisms are back again.  They've been missing for many days because of cloudy morning weather.  And now that the sun is in a better position, the spectrums that they produce are brighter and in more prominent positions on the wall than when they first returned after their winter nap.  Yay!  My morning adrenalin rush! yes

Zbrush too... Jeez... everyone is in on the money grabbing.

One more piece of software I’ll never touch.

This past week has been such a clusterf*** of bad news and betrayal (by a “family” member) its uneffing believable.

In life there is one constant... greed is the root of all ills and suffering.

Sorry to just pop in and be a downer.

Sorry to hear that!  But very complaint-worthy!  And I know how that feels, so I feel for you!  I hope you can get past it eventually.  It's not easy.  And don't let people insult you, telling you that you should just forgive.  Forgive, yes, but it's not so easy to forget.  And trust doesn't come back easily, either.  Trust must be earned.
