You're welcome, once you mentioned the brown I knew which one you meant but I couldn't remember the name just that it looked like an outfit from the Guildwars game and I still have it wishlisted so was able to find it that way.

Not really.  They make reference to Ant Man screwing up something in a previous movie because his shrinko/expando control box in his suit had gone out of control but you get the idea because it continues to malfunction in this movie.  You might call it the MacGuffin of this character. https://www.cinelinx.com/movie-stuff/item/12631-the-ten-most-important-macguffins-in-the-history-of-cinema.html  And they do an OK job of explaining who Wasp Woman (or whatever her name is) is.

I was never a fan of the "Ant" storyline in the comic books, and I hadn't seen the previous movie (although I had seen trailers for it) but I got along OK with this movie when I watched it recently on NetFlix or Prime but I wouldn't have spent hard cash to go see it in a theater.

These comic book movies hold practically zero interest for me anymore.  I watch them now when they are "free" on NetFlix or Prime TV and I happen to be unable to find anything better. But I find myself having to digest them in 15 minute segments to avoid terminal fault finding with everything about them.  But to their credit I usually finish them within a day or two just out of curiosity. frown

Complaint:  The quantum realm is weird enough and difficult enough to grasp without comic book characters walking around on quarks.sad  Kids (and adults) still think cavemen had dinosaurs for pets and you can thank Hollywood for that too angry

Why did I buy Sims 4?  I am stuck in a tutorial that I feel like does not end.  And who is this Alex gal?  I only set up one sim, and that is Carrie.  I am putting my sims to bed so I can finish the tutorial. Wonder if there is a mod the sims 4?

Most common vegetable oils (sunflower, safflower, sesame, corn, grape etc.) are drying or semi-drying oils, meaning that they oxidize, especially when heated, and create a hard layer which stick to the pan and can ruin even the best non-stick pans over time. Some oils like linseed and walnut oil dry very quickly and form a hard layer, that's why they're being used in oil paint.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drying_oil
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-drying_oil

Use non-drying oils instead, like coconut oil, they don't cause this problem. Peanut and olive oil should work as well if you don't like the taste of coconut oil, but I haven't tried them over a long time. Plain butter should work as well. There are several other alternatives listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-drying_oil

I have used a sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution (the main ingredient in most oil paint removers for wood) to remove the hardened oil from ceramic and stainless pans, but be careful with aluminum pans as it attacks aluminum very agressively, while creating hydrogen which may cause an explosion. So if there is just a tiny hole in the ceramic layer it may start eating up the pan if it's made of aluminum. It doesn't attack stainless steel and iron though, at least not the types I've tried. Stainless pans often have an aluminum layer at the bottom though, in that case don't drop the whole pan into a NaOH solution, which you otherwise can if it's 100% stainless steel or cast iron.

Actually they use drying oils to prepare cast iron pans before use to make them less sticky, by rubbing them with oil and then heating them up to a very high temperature, but that creates a different, much harder layer than if you just use the oil for frying. But in any case it can't compete at all with a good ceramic pan, when it comes to non-stick. Personally I don't trust other than pure ceramic pans for non-stick - if teflon is overheated it releases fumes which can cause "teflon flu" in humans, and even kill birds. Ceramic pans are also much more resistant to scratches and overheating.

Wow, I missed this reply.  Excellent information.  Thanks for the message bringing it to my attention.  Trying this is now on my to-do list.  Thanks. yes

I have no idea if this is the latest post in this conversation, but ever since you first mentioned it, LG, I have been educating myself on cooking pans and nonstick subjects.  Here's some of what I've learned:

    • The baked on oil residue may be made worse by using spray-on oils.  One internet source says to just use butter or real oil.  You don't have to tell me twice!  Also, I'll just buy another pot or pan when things start to look nasty and I can't get 'em clean anymore.  Being a human being results in some waste being generated.  It is what it is.
    • Ceramic may contain lead, which if a surface is poorly manufactured, damaged, and/or used in extremely high temperatures, could leach lead into food.  My reaction to this is, if I cook my salmon in it, then I'll get both lead poisoning AND mercury poisoning all at the same time.  How wonderfully efficient!  All kidding aside, I'm gonna die of something anyway (hopefully before the sun expands beyond the Earth's orbit in 5 billion years or so, because I don't want to be around for that), so this will not stop me from buying ceramic cookware for the next 40 years or so.  But sure, I will be more careful.
    • Teflon and high heat...yes, fumes.  This has been known for 30+ years now.  The fumes can kill housepets such as birds and can also be toxic to humans, but that's an extreme situation.  You can pretty much avoid it by cooking your food and then taking the pan off the heat when done.  Never heat cookware while empty, unless you're actually seasoning it.
    • The good old cast-iron pot may actually be the perfect (and safest) cooking utensil.  Yeah, tomatoes.  But then...
    • ...almost everything ELSE also says don't cook tomato based foods in it, which tells me that some people just like to hate on tomatoes.  I guess we have to eat all our tomatoes raw now.  Or ignore the wizards and just keep on enjoying life, even if it means we have to season some of our cookware a little more often.  frown

So what's my wisdom here?  I could buy TWO sets of pots and pans, or even buy an extra pan or pot for those that will get used more often.  But I probably won't do that; that's just too left-brained for the wonder that is cooking.  Besides, that's why we have garage sales; to get rid of all our mismatched stuff and let somebody else put it in THEIR attic or basement!  That's probably not high on the wisdom scale.  As for me, I've decided that now I've done my fiduciary duty by having researched it to death.  I got nowhere in all that time, so the next time I have to buy pots and pans, I'll just pick the ones that match the underwear I've got on that day.  That should free me up to stop worrying and continue to cook with a laugh and eat with a smile.  A very knowing smile; what with my little inside joke.  laugh

..the acids in Tomato sauces actually breaks down the seasoning which is why you don't want to cook it in cast iron.  I use stainless steel when I make my pasta sauce and clean it immediately afterwards.  I brown the sausage in a cast iron though as well as for sauteing the mushrooms and chopped garlic in olive oil.

Non-complaint:  Been letting YouTube suggest things for me to watch and it came up with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNMzBnuBC6Y  I love this performance of it and I was particularly fascinated by its use of the multiple xylophone/marimba/vibraphone/glockenspiel type instruments and the major differences in their tonal qualities (I particularly loved the tone of the gold one at 2:15).  French composer Camille Saint-Saëns' Eight minutes of fun "Danse Macabre".  A halloween favorite often involving skeletons.

Non-complaint:  Wheee..., I managed to squeeze my budget this month and was on track to have my car repair bill paid off this month WITHOUT digging into my savings.  Yay!  I did it by already having a cupboard and refrigerator full of food, bad weather has kept me from driving excessively, I've stayed away from Amazon.com and with only 2 and a half weeks to go, my budget was right on schedule.yes

HOWEVER,  I got captured by an ad for an online auction and just HAD to poke my head in tonight to see how much those wonderful things were going for.devil  I had perused the catalog ahead of time and had made a list of about 10 items that had small ($25) minimum bids.  When time came I watched item after beautiful item go by.  Most of it was beautiful things way WAY out of my league but I kept watching for those $25 items.  Some of them quickly bid up to $40, $50, $80, $100 or more and I just sniffled as they went beyond my reach.sad  Then there was this nice bird shaped clear glass crystal paperweight by Baccarat.  I pounced on it at $25 and nobody else bid.  Shock!  It was mine!  Yay!  My precious!  Then more items went by but there were still several items on my list.  I had always desired an example of a real piece of Lalique frosted glass.  There were several in this auction and many of them were small and affordable.   I pounced on each one of them but again they would quickly escalate beyond my budget.frown  Finally the last one that I could possibly justify came up and I started to pounce on it at $25 but I dropped my mouse and by time I recovered the fumble and pressed the button the price had gone up to $40, then nobody else bid, and I won it.  I would have quit at $25 if I'd made the bid in time but I'm not unhappy that I got the piece.  My research shows that the same piece can be found through ebay and etsy for a typical price of $100 and in some places nearly $200.  So considering my bid costs, the auction fee (23%), and shipping I got two very nice examples of fine glassware for less than the price of one of the pieces through ebay.yes  And in keeping with my collection being limited primarily to animals made of various materials I don't think I've strayed too far out of bounds.  Unfortunately, the extra expense now means that my budget is extra tight and I'll have to forget about my weekly decent lunch uptown for the rest of the month.  It's now chilli dogs instead of shrimp scampi. indecision

The Swans pin tray will be perfect for paperclips on my desk, and the beautiful colorless, bubbleless, elegantly shaped bird paperweight will replace my current bird shaped glass paperweight.  My current paperweight bird has no pedigree and was a $3 find in a junk store and bugs me everytime I notice the discoloration, crude shaping, and random internal bubbles.  It will get retired to the bottom of a box. devil

I'm not ashamed to recognize and like nice things.  Especially when I can get them for bargain prices. cool

Edited to add:  Up to now I only had one decent piece of glassware.  A Steuben teddybear shaped "Hand Cooler" that I and my partner bought about 30 years ago at the Steuben factory in Corning, NY for $50.  They fetch considerably more now if you can find them.

..ahh, congratulations.  I tend to wait until yard sale season here.  Yeah, I have to hit the ATM for cash beforehand but a small inconvenience.

Surporising what you can find sometimes, the value of which people don't realise.

I miss my "old, old" neighboruhood though.  People who moved out of apartments there would leave some really nice items up fpr grabs. Like the foot pedal actuated trash bin I have in the kitchen (which I found out cost 145$ new) a couple really nice floor lamps (one with a secondary light which I have aimed at the keyboard), and a 1950s Sunbeam Mixmaster (which includes a pastry hook).

Recovering from spending a couple of hours with the snowblower and the shovel today (actually, yesterday now).  We had about 8" to 10", and it was heavy stuff.  And...flurries Wednesday and Thursday, and more serious snow again overnight Friday into Saturday, and again overnight Sunday into Monday.

Unbelievably, we Spring Forward Saturday night/Sunday morning.  I didn't think it was this soon.  In like a lion, out like a lamb.  I sure hope that old saying holds true.  I'm getting tired of the roar.

Complaint:  Harumph!  After shooting a hole in my budget and deciding that my weekly treat to a decent lunch uptown for the rest of the month would have to be chilli dogs instead of shrimp scampi, I spent a half hour digging my car out of the three inches of crusted snow covering a half inch of ice and begrudgingly made a long overdue chores trip uptown to get rid of garbage, get prescriptions, buy needed groceries, and have lunch at my favorite chilli dog place.  To my dismay I discovered that the proprieters now in their ancient years apparently would prefer to be in Florida for two months and closed down the restaurant until sometime in April.  I don't blame them but it's damn inconvenient! angry  So, I ended up at Taco Bell for a bean bomb lunch that will explode me in a few more hours. indecision

Hmmm... Interesting:  I looked out the window here and it looked like fog.  But after a moment I realized it was snowing itsy bitsy flakes quite densely and slowly.  It's lightly coating the bare wood of my porch with a granular sheen.  Perhaps freezing fog?  Could you call it "frog"?
