Ah, "Waiting for God" a show that I appreciate as being more spot on, each year. yes

Factoid:  The theme music is one of a series of variations of a theme from the 5th movement of "The Trout Quintet"* by Franz Schubert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3k81__bwrM  at 31:34

*A "quintet" being a piece composed for 5 instruments.  In this particular case the instruments appear to be (left to right) violin, viola, piano, cello and bass.

Non-complaint:  Being reminded of TV music themes that come from classical compositions, brought to mind the '90s American TV show "Wings" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfCFeO_KM5I that had piano music playing behind scene of a small aircraft during the introductory credits*.  The music was from another Schubert composition.  His Piano Sonata #20  (a "sonata" being a long composition for a single instrument, usually in three movements).  The particular part of the the music that was used for the TV show was at the beginning of the 3rd movement and begins at 26:35 in the following clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOy5T1g6wrM  This third movement starts out lively with an interesting melody and builds in complexity and richness to the end.  A delight to lose oneself in as the the theme cycles around and comes back all the more interesting each cycle.  And at the end the theme partially evaporates (36:00) then explodes in renewed vigor and finally flourishes (36:55) to a stop.

*Note however, that the TV show version of the theme starts out with piano only but adds strings (cello, I think) later.

..ahh the inspiration for my story "Rhapsody in Shadow"

I actually learned the solo piano part, but never had the chance ot perform it with an orchestra

In the story, this was Leela's father's favouriote work. When she was a child she promised one day to play it for him in Carnegie Hall.

Sadly for the film they cut several sections out.

I wanted to sleep in this morning but I did not.  I was dreaming about cold fries and not being able to find my iPad.

Non-complaint:  Wheee..., my UPS package has finally arrived.  It literally took me 15 minutes to unpack it from all the foam peanuts, foam sheets, small bubblewrap, large bubblewrap, foam planks, and miles of tape inside the large double thick box container.  It is unbroken, and more gorgeous than I anticipated.  It now sits in the honored place on my display shelf.  Illuminated from behind by high intensity lamps to make it glow and show off it's golden translucence and intricate filigreed carvings.

Upon close personal examination I can see that it is old.  The whole vase is carved from one piece of stone about 10 inches high.  It has minute age cracks, handling wear, and white oxidation and dark amber staining of some of the edges of the cream colored translucent stone (agate? or possibly a marble like stone?).  I can see that there used to be two additional small "handles" or "ears" on the bulbous base part of it but they have been broken off either during creation or during its lifetime, the mounting points show just a small bump where someone has smoothed down the stubs.  But they're not missed.  This piece is beautiful just as it is.

Now you just need your 3D scanner and a 3D printer, and you will have many of those in your home for a tenth of the price!

I don't have room for many of them and besides, then it wouldn't be unique.  indecision  Rule of acquisition #247 "If you buy it you need a place for it."  Rule of acquisition #113 "Don't buy it unless it's consumable or valuable".

...many years ago I once considereed buying a pipe organ I saw on eBay.  19th century American build with two keyboards and pedal board, 16 stops all in good working order.  It was being sold for 2.000$  Would have needed a farily big warehouse loft (that would also need soundproofing) as the case stood about 14' tall.  It finally was bought by a museum for something like 2,900$

Just one 61 note rank (set) of new pipes of 8' pitch today would go for about 8 times that.

I added some items to the shopping cart.  The cart is empty when I look at the cart.  I guess I need to log out and clear the cookies and then log into Daz3d.com again.

update: The shopping cart still shows an error.  I never had an issue with Google Chrome browser before.

may seem a silly thing to do, but add another item to the cart,   suddenly the other items will show up,  you can then take out the one you don't want.
