Ok just swinging by to let you guys know there was an update to Dark Elves (both versions)

This includes splitting of morphs (thanks to Kattey) no tattoo face options and some seam corrections.

You can download the updates from your acct, or via DIM.

The skins look GREAT on males, and with the new update offering tattoo-free versions I plan to have even more fun!

In the meantime, here's my first successful render with these sets. Not male, obviously, but my avatar is!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

{edit} - I couldn't get a nice texture for the ground so I used Garibaldi Hair to make the grass. I think it worked well. I just wish I could make HAIR with it, but I need training with Vidal Sassoon for that!

Hmm did the gen2fem version also got a update? If so, any chance you could mail it to me Iggy? *looks nice and cute* Since I didn't downloaded that via dim and it isn't in my product library, I don't get the product updates :) (I would assume the same goes for Scorpio and the version he choosed)

    *hugs*

Couldn't you have Daz add it to their accounts on your behalf? I thought that's what they do for other contest winners around the forums.

If it isn't too much of a trouble, adding it to our account (least in my opinion) would probably be making it easier :) In case there are other updates :) Though I have no idea how much trouble that is for you or daz, so just do what is easier for you *smiles*

I certainly love these elves, currently working o na new character who is half elf... and I used the Dark elves to bring out her elven side :)

And no worries, it's easy to forget *smiles*

    Oh wow, thanks for that.

Hoping to expand upon the grass basics and do more, it was actually a good exercise, learned a lot.

Ok -- Scorpio and Carola... Britney has added the sets to your accounts. So they should be downloadable there now.

Used the new tattoo-less version of the skin for Unseelie Queen's Court. The skin is the light green version, but with the lighting, comes out looking more greyish. I also used the new ears-only morph as well; they are much better than the elf ears morph in the G2F expansion morphs.

Finally had a go with this. Decided to play with DOF and retexture Gypsy Dancer while I was at it (used Supersuit shaders on parts). IG's Photo Studio 2 and Antfarm's base camp. Hair is PH Catwalk parented instead of fit so it'd play nicely with the ears. Minor post to brighten and bring out some colors.

Nothing special. Hindsight I should've thrown in a bow or something. lol
I'll end up revisiting it as I like where I started heading.

    Still waiting for V4 Version

Yeah, I am behind schedule with it. I was in a pretty nasty bike wreck about a month and a half ago. I couldn't even work on anything for a few weeks. When I finally could, I decided to do something that was quicker (which should be releasing soon) just to get something out. It is next on my to do list, but it likely won't be hitting til Jan at the earliest.

Vaskania... sorry to have missed your image... I must not have gotten the notification. Lovely job on your render... and I dont think its missing the bow or anything. Its nice to see a softer image of the set.

Guys, when I'm using Elf Skin, and disable some parts toggling 'Visible In Render', they still render. I suggested it related to surface shader, but where? Why?

Ignis: Just saw this myself as I took a break for a couple months. Thanks for the words on the render. :) Hope you're doing better after your wreck.

Kaste: The skin uses the subsurface shader which doesn't obey the visibility toggle. The only way for you to get something invisible is to use the opacity slider for the offending part in the surface pane.

@IgnisSerpentus, just bought Dark Elves for G2F and Midnight Huntress for G2F and can't wait to use them! I read through this thread and was wondering what I need to do to use them, since I don't have the V6 UV set. I'm getting the following error when I load the Dark Elf actor and materials:

Also, once the missing file is resolved, is it safe to apply the Iray Uber Base to your products to render in Iray, or is it strictly for 3Delight?

Thanks for your help, and Battle Cat and War Bird are awesome!

    Minimally you need this...

    http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-6

And there doesn't seem to be anything that would prevent applying the Iray shader.  The character is using images for the skin texture, so they will transfer over.  You may need to manually tweak the settings.

Thanks for your reply, @mjc1016. I wish Victoria 6 was listed as a required product at the top of the product page. It only says that the compatible figure is Genesis 2 female, which I do have. Since I would only be buying Victoria 6 to use for this one product Dark Elves for G2F, I may need to rethink my purchase. I already have V7. Bummer! I really like it too.

  • Does the product actually fail to load or work after the error? It may be that the Victoria 6 UVs are set for teh eyes or mouth, where they don't make a difference and can be ignored.

I knew there was a post upthread where she mentioned the UVs...

    It's a solid V6 for the skin.

Thanks, I'll flag this up. In the mean time, dawnblade, you may want to ask for a refund unless you are thinking of buying Victoria 6
