I keep forgetting to add this picture to the thread.
did this one last week. It was originally just a test render but i loaded it up into Gimp just to screw around cause i was bored and in the end i thought it turned out. I was thinking of showing a side by side of the original test render that i used with the finished version but idk.
Ah nice to see this in here.. like I said on DA.. very cool!
Love that, very cool
As usual DB, a great render. I have to ask though, were you playing with gradients in Gimp to get that effect, or was that different colored lighting you used in your render? Either way, nicely done.
...a little JT love here which was also submitted to the PC Monthly challenge:
all done in Gimp.
I'll go ahead and show a side by side with the original.

Nice! Glad you posted the initial render. It's amazing what the gradients did for the scene. Thanks for showing us the comparison.
A quick use of GIS Skyway ... (shrunk to fit the size requirements)

+1
And yes, this is why postwork is a good thing :)
Seems very dark here - but I'm not sure if that was just the look you were going for :)
Very Curious...

It should be dark(ish), but not sure if the forum has darkened it in the process of upload/displaying.
I have Jack Tomalin's whole "West Park" series. I am planning to use them for a project and I was wondering how to make the textures clean and modern and not, as they are, forgotten or vandalized. Is there a way?
The East Park series are clean modern textures for West Park.
I know, but the "East Park" is a small fraction of the sets. I want to be able to use the West Park" sets as a modern, functional institute. I want to know if there is a way.

The quickest way to get a fresh look is to use shader/tiling texture sets if you have any e.g.

http://www.daz3d.com/shades-of-life-urban-construct
http://www.daz3d.com/design-tool-box-bundle
(these are just examples, there are quite a few good sets out there)
but obviously you'd need to watch when it comes to transmaps for windows etc
Jabba,
I guess I'll have to follow your advice and start from scratch. Thanks for the links.
"...what the hell..., who has left the seat up????"
Somebody's in big trouble
...ah, no one loves my forlorn young lady.
Very nice!
I have a pretty good idea what you did for the lighting around the table, but what did you do to those windows? I have the biggest trouble getting light through windows.
I'll be honest, I totally missed it the first time around - sadly my forum time is being taken up with the PC anniversary wrangling.
As not to do the same to anyone else - I'll say 'great work everyone' for now! and hopefully usual business will resume next month (and hopefully a little more normality)
The way the JAS threads have gone into their 5th 'chapter' (?) is an excellent testament to all my supporters - so thanks everyone!
WOW cosmo you certainly are growing that last render looks really good. I love the face and expression.
Jack you want to tell Sarsa off for soiling the Treatment room.
Love it Cosmo!!

Well, I know it wasn't me at least!
Very nice!

I have the biggest trouble getting light through windows. For that precise effect, you have to do it in post. There aren't actually any lights in the buildings, I added yellow to the glass surface ambient channels and whacked them up to 100% ...the rest is done in post.
It's probably easier to do than it is to explain clearly in writing, so I intend to do a video at some point when i get the time (I was wanting to do some using GIMP as a lot of people are put off trying postwork because they have the impression you need Photoshop)
***edit*** just to add, you could actually get a similar effect by placing an advanced ambient light in front of every single window (with correct settings of course) but that's waaaaaay too much work in my opinion when you can get this result in 5 minutes of post. ***
I thought she might fit here as well ;-)
Hi Jack. Just bought the "platea" product. According to "platea". Do you plan some single room fitting to the style of "platea"?
Visit my thread mr. szark and have a look at the latest renders :)
