If someone like StoneMason with his streetwear line (https://www.daz3d.com/streetwear-jeans-for-genesis) walked away from the effort of making clothes, it is hard to see how a new vendor would try unless they did it out of more love and less profit.

I wouldn't say I walked away from it,I just never got around to doing more of it..environments have always been my prime focus and doing that clothing line was really just for fun,I didn't give any thought to whether it would sell well or even if doing male over female content was a good idea..I'm sure one day I'll get back into the streetwear brand

Good to hear that.... did you find that your streetwear products sold as well as your other products?

Your "I did it just for fun" is our "I wish I could do something that amazing someday".  You are a tremendous artist and the praise you get is well deserved. Just wanted to say that, since you're here!

yea as far as I recall they all sold well

  • I definitely prefer horribly inefficient and unrealistic women's skimp wear, but I acknowledge and support great male product as well.

I imagine that the best and worst thing about being a professional are the expectations of your customers. Any time I fantasize about being a professional somewhere in this space, I think of all the demands of a paying audience, and that stops me in my tracks.

The freedom of presenting something for free is the fact that you can say, "You got what you paid for," and you have no moral obligation beyond that.

btw, this female v's male thing and how there is an apparent lack of male content,I just see it as a reflection of the real world..I know my partner has way more clothes than I have

I tend to agree. I will make my own stuff if there's something I need that I don't already have available. But a man's suit is pretty universal, I already have a couple of variants of suits so I've never made one.I just use shader presets to vary the look of what I've got. T-shirts, shorts, polo shirts, when you have one, you have them all (exaggeration but there just isn't that much variation possible). So I think people probably buy a core set of things an then just adapt them to a variety of situations.  I know I do.

But I do tend to buy male stuff that's not generic, that I can't just replicate with an "off the rack" suit. Got a good cop uniform with attached badge, name tag, buttoned breast pockets, etc? Bought. Good general or admiral uniform with insignia and a matching hat? Sold.  Cowboy? Depends on how detailed. Construction worker? Does it come with a good tool belt, some good dirty textures, maybe an old school lunch pail? Yeah, I'm in.   Nice suit? Gee, I dunno, I have three already...

I am not a PA but my guess is that those niche things actually sell better than the everyday stuff because everyday stuff is so easy to kitbash together from older sets.  Of course you can do that with the ladies too, but ladies fashions tend to be much more varied to begin with, so it's easier to spot something that looks "unique" even among the everyday stuff (which is what I personally like to buy, not so much the skimpwear).

I suppose it's like in my real life. If we have a semi-formal event coming up like a wedding, I select a nice suit from my closet and there ya go. The toughest decision is what color tie to wear with it. In the meanwhile , my wife goes out and buys a new dress, new shoes, etc. If we have a costume party, however, then I need to do a little shopping.

By the way, it it just me or did the rush to get my free stuff crash ShareCG? I can't get to it. It may have nothing to do with my freebies, perhaps. But is anyone else able to get to it? I ask because it's not the only site I'm having trouble with so it might be a network issue on my end.

Not working for me either. And neither is HW. which is annoying because I want to buy that lion.

Oh, and as for the site problems, my hubby, who is a cable guy, said that Comcast is having major problems and that very well may be the source of the issues people are having. He does not work for Comcast but subscribes to something that tells him of industry-wide issues like this ;)

I can make any kind of men clothing, just that DAZ rigging system is very unintuitive for me :( Weight system is horrid.

That sucks because I REALLY want to purchase that military uniform you keep showing off!

Very unfortunately :(  I love to be able to sell all my men clothing.  I would be thrilled if a PA who knows JCM and rigging and the weighting system to teach me :)

  • What we need is about 5,000 more t-shirt textures ;)

Just got into Sharecg without a problem

I've taken to purchasing HW stuff from 'Rosity, their servers are MUCH MUCH faster and the downloads too!  Lion is there!

True, but I feel like if I buy directly from them, then they get all the money.

    Those outfits look fantastic!

Arki has done a webinar about this: https://www.daz3d.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-creating-complex-outfits-part-4/

    alternately by Esha: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-content-creation-mastery-part-6-rigging-and-morphing-clothing-items

and also by Esha, focussing on clothing rigging and problems:  https://www.daz3d.com/refined-rigging-clothing-case-studies

There's probably also free stuff available.

These are so fantastic I’d buy them the very SECOND they went up for sale. Food and rent be damned...lol.

I'd hypothetically buy those mal3Imagery clothing sets too. Actually I would buy them, no hypothetically to it, but I can't always manage it too close to a DO Pro Bundle that I want when those are released.

We all would like to have them; they're gorgeous.  Unfortunately dForce flat won't do thick or stiffer fabrics correctly (yet, I hope updates will add more functionality).

    damn!

  • Those military uniforms are awful...ly nice.

I would not be opposed if they had proper Undress morphs... because, uh, realism and stuff.

Male3Dimagery there has been a precedent set with that unrigged Jacket in the store, while I criticised it on facebook apparently some did think it was ok and your outfits look awesome.

It's been 24 hours since the experiment began and the three items had the following downloads:

    • G8F Sundress = 157 Downloads
    • G3M Victorian Constable Uniform = 119 Downloads
    • G3M Commando Sweater = 123 Downloads

My observation: when it's free, the girls still win BUT not night and day. No 5x downloads  or anything like that, just 20% more. Plus the texture set by eblank was essentially cross-promotion and may have driven the sundress figures  up a tad. And sinc ethe sundress if G8F, some who are migrating to G8F and don't have a lot of content for her may be grabbing everything there is. So it's almost a wash. Does this tell us anything? Yes. People like free stuff.

That said, here's another item I dug up, first thing I did for G8M.  The shirt/tie/overcoat is the item I made (pants, shoes, hat, breifcase are kitbashed from other sets).   I can't share at the moment because textures I used are shader presents from purchased sets but I can easily rework them with a basic "wool like" one like I did for the constable set.  So I may put this up too as a final gift for all of you suffering my ramblings about my pointless "experiment". This one actually works in dForce, surprisingly, because I added thickness to the cuffs. I used a weight map to basically make just the sleeves and the area below the last button dynamic. That keeps it from blowing up or falling apart (the necktie isnt attached to anything).  Happily that worked.

mal3Imagery, with such fantastic uniforms I woudn't care about dforce. Just bring them to the store somehow. I would even buy them as static, unrigged objects if they come with the pose...

While a nice additional feature (depending on an outfit's style) not everything needs to be dForce-ready. Unfortunately, I've noticed that some vendors in a different store seem to be depending on dForce to get a proper fit rather than including the usual morphs.
