That's really cool.  Iron and Lead though should both be a bit rougher looking, not so shiny.  Just my observation... wink

Found a great page with some good info on them, not overly wordy but great idea on heights, widths and facial shapes.  I always wanted to see a 3D version of the Metal Men.  A total fan of them!

You always give great advice, Rich (hope I remember your name correctly blush )

Admittedly this re-imagining of the Metal Men are more in line with the scale of the New 52 versions (even though I'm not a fan of New 52 cheeky )  I still have a soft spot for the original versions, though and have something in mind for them wink

Great job, I was just looking at some Metal Men vinyl figures on the weekend. I'm not sure I would have gone with a rougher finish myself for Iron and Lead, I think I just would have dulled the finish a bit (taken off the gloss).

Again, excellent work, I love 'em!

Looks good but bring the bump down, lower the specular on them and i think you'll have it just right.  Agreeing with Walt!

Thanks for the input, Walt and Rich smiley

Iron and Lead really are duller and rougher it seems wink

    Absolutely gorgeous.

On the one hand, I'm angry and jealous because you beat me to it, on the other hand I'm glad because there's no way I'd have done this good a job. laugh

You will, however, have to do a Doc Magnus. wink

Many thanks for the advice and observations, Walt and Rich  smiley yes

And I guess I should, while waiting for The Six and Muscleman's Animated Style females to be released so I can do Platinum (Tina) wink

Also re-did Tin because he's always had a bluish tint (probably to visually differentiate him from Platinum even if Tin is also a silvery white metal ) :

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,343

Yea, actually Platinum is a heavy precious metallic element; gray-white and resistant to corroding; occurs in some nickel and copper ores and is also found native in some deposits

Tin is a silvery malleable metallic element that resists corrosion; used in many alloys and to coat other metals to prevent corrosion; obtained chiefly from cassiterite where it occurs as tin oxide  Tin is not as shiny as Platinum either!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *gags*

  • I posted this image (http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/90203/) in My Gallery and it should feature someone familiar to most people here.

...which brings me to a question.

I used Target View's old M4 superhero props on it. (I forget the product name, so if anyone can help fill in the blanks in my brain I'd appreciate it.) The trouble I've found is that I bought a couple of other items from him and lost them in a couple of hard drive crashes. I was able to retrieve most of my files from backups, but there are a couple of other items I bought that I haven't been able to find. I've tried contacting Target View but he hasn't replied to any of my messages; his store doesn't carry the old items anymore as he focuses on his own figures and clothing items for them. I'm hoping someone here bought them too and could help me out with at least the name. Maybe I can search my files better if I knew what I was looking for (gee, seems like a theme today); I'm hoping I still have the file buried in an old archive. It was a set which seemed based off of the Fantastic Four's foe, the Wizard. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

  • Hey Sphinx,

I think what your refering to is the Armada Air Suit. Target View had some good outfits over there.

    That's it! Thanks, Invader!

He did have some good outfits over there. Too bad he's not offering any of his old stuff. If he would check out some of Renderosity's offerings, he would see that M4 and V4 are still making money for someone out there. Plus, as in the image I posted in my gallery, those M4/V4 clothing items are still conformable to the new generations of figures.

  • This one took a long time to finish. Kraven the Hunter! Comments welcome.

    Here's what I used:

    • Genesis
    • Pretty in Pink Ballet Shoes
    • Journeyer Scout Pants
    • Journeyer Scout Wrist Guards
    • Journeyer ScoutArmband
    • Short Beard for Genesis
    • M4Vest
    • Real Hairy for Genesis
    • Pure Hair: Sleek for Genesis
    • Fur-Carrara Hair

Great Kraven, love the Spidey base!

    -- Walt Sterdan

  • Thanks for the comments. I don't do much modeling so I have to piece things together from what I can find or buy online. I try to make the characters as realistic as possible using my own interpretation of them. I prefer the 1980's versions of most of the characters I make. Probably because that was when I was young and reading a lot of comics, 30 or so a month.

The base is Base Camp (in the DAZ store) with a Spidey picture used as a texture and displacement map. Everything is assembled and rendered in Carrara.

I.ve always liked the idea of Marvel and DC in the same verse. Here is John Stewart, Carol Danvers, and Logan fighting together, supes galore, LOL

Was working on a classic MM suit. The first one was just having some fun with lighting and working on skin textures.

Nicely done and good resemblance of the upcoming suicide squad look.

Here is aquaman. Got inspired after watching an animated flick on netflix.

  • Just a quick head's up...

Over at Renderosity, MightyMite has been releasing a series of comic-based poses for M4: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/vendor/MightyMite

The poses are grouped along familiar character types for people on this thread. I've asked MightyMite about the possibility of bundles and he's looking into what's involved. Still, some good poses up there. Worth taking a look!
