My vision is shot.  My doc put oil in my eye to heal the retina but kills the focus in my one good eye, and without insuranc I can't afford the $10k to take the oil out.  So I'm pretty much screwed at this point, I have to try to get permanent disability.  Game over! But I onl have 2 regrets in life so it's been a blast while the fun lasted.  Sorry for the typos, even with my special handicapped high-contrast keyboard.  I ned tew tipe slawer..

...while stories abound about how people are dragged thorugh the mud to get disability (Moi included) this is pretty damn serious. Your vision has been permanently ruined by what is a temporary treatment that cannot mitigated without undue expense.  It sounds like the oil has caused you to effectively be blind in your good eye. While I am not an attorney it does sound like you could have a case to file a suit for the cost of the second treatment to remove the oil as well as the discomfort it has caused.

If I can find a pro-bono attorney I'll likely sue my doctor.  He didn't tell me it'd effectivey temporarily ruin my vision until afterwards.  Grrrrrrrr!

Disability lawyers here, all advertising they only get paid if you get paid. And according to some friends, there is a limit to what they can get.

No need to apologize.  Maybe you can use something like Dragon Naturally Speaking.  It's supposed to be really good these days.

I'm not a fan of football...neither pointy ball or round ball...but living In Massachusetts, I hear about Tom Brady all the time.  And one thing seems to be certain, when he has an injury, he tries harder.  They weren't even sure he would play today.  Well, the fans were sure.

Sunday! Roasting some chicken in the air fryer, eill likely finish by baking with olives and lemon 'Greek style'.  71f outside, once again window wide open.  Feeling more like my old slf today, loks like bullet successfully dodged - again.  I'm in major debt to my guardian angel,

I hope they stream the Super Bowl again, I bought tater chips 'just in case'.

...49° here after buckets of rain earlier. Seems the worst is past. Need to do grocery run today as it's really going to get wet and cold the next severl days.  May take the tram and bus as it's also a bit breezy.

Patriots and Jags playing a back & forth game.  Pats just went up 24 - 20 and will win as they sacked Bortles on the 47 with Jacksonville giving the ball up on downs. So looks like New England (again *yawn*) punched it's ticket to Minneapolis.

Vikings and Philadelphia up next (Go Vikes (yeah I know I'm GB by they did hae a very good season and they represent the "NFC Norris" division).  It would also be a true "home game" for Minnesota. as the only other teams to play in their home cities, played at a different stadium (San Francisco at Stanford Stadium in 1985 and the LA Rams at the Rose Bowl in 1979).  Interesting sidenote: in Philadelphia, the Police dept greased all the streetlight poles with shortening to keep fans from climbing them should the Eagles win. ESPN nicknamed them  the "Crisco Cops".

Now if Philadelphia loses (knowing how the fans are there) the street lights may be "burning" in the literal sense as shortening is flammable.

Pats, blech.  Brady needs to retire.  Go Vikings!

'Slicker than a greased streetlamp' should become a meme.  And yeah, Crisco does burn nicely.  Don't ask how I know. :-|

Olive chicken came out great, the skin crisped up nice in the olive oil and the lime and olive juice cooked right into the center of the chicken.  Zero complaints.

Looks like Yahoo Sports will be streaming the Super Bowl, so I have some time to get it all set up.  Going to save my tater chips for the game!!

...whew, just got home form the market trip in time.  Currently hearing rain beating against the window.  Had to wait 23 min for the bus when I got out of the store, almost could have walked home in that time were it not that I had two shopping bags and my shoulder bag full.  Almost missed the tram connection as it looked far enough away to make it to the platform on time but apparently it moved a lot quicker than I expected and had to run (something these old bones and joints are not fond of particularly carrying a shopping bag in each hand) as the next one wouldn't have come by for another 14 min.

Well looks like another "East Coast Bias SB" (boring), Vikes laid down and died after putting up the first points at the beginning of the game. Down 38 - 7 in the 4th at the two minute warning.

I'm glad you made it home in one piece!  I hope you're warm and dry now. :-)

Geebus on the Viqueens rolling over and playing dead.  I wonder if they got paid off to throw the game?  That lopsided score seems so uncharacteristic, sounds more lke a Cleveland Browns game...! :-|

American Football making the newspaper here - maybe coz so many Americans are in town for tennis - Patriots Rally From Ten Down, is that good ?

It's great if you're a Patriots fan, not so much if you hate the team... :-|

Windows has always done the voice activation/speaking computer things rather well maybe you can give all that a poke when you are ready *hugs*

Windows Magnifier works a treat, and the mgnifier follows the typing cursor so I can see the letters in front of and behind the cursor for about 15 characters each side.

Never thought I'd be praising Windows, but without this stul I might as well move to a cardboard box under a bridge now... thank Deity for Windows assistive technologies!!!

Dant it, I can NOT get to sleep! I'm all wound up, I'm going to call and confront my doc about not telling me the oil would ruin my vision.  I've found 4 listings for malpractice attorneys that will work for a portion of damages recovered, so I'm ready to play some hardball if I need to.

At the same time I've downloaded the instructions on how to file for disability, I'll prepare to pursue that as well.

My last option is to try to get a short remote development contract for rent/food money, since I can code abd debug on Windows with my fancy assistive tech.

Failing that, I'm going to rob a bank and let myself get caught.  There was a grea article in the Austin Statesman news site about a guy who did that, got his health issues fixed in prison, learned a new trade and got out to go straight into a job.  And my room is only 2 feet wider than a jail cell, so I'm ready!

Even my fallback plans have fallbacks :-P

Food delivery tomorrow about 2pm, alarm set for 11am.. got to get back to a normal schedule ASAP!  Ugh. :-|

...while stories abound about how people are dragged thorugh the mud to get disability (Moi included) this is pretty damn serious.

I know the feeling.  But not that I can't live with my results, I still feel denied full explanation of the potential problems with my eye surgery.  I had cataract surgery and that part of it went fine, but in the process they pushed and squeezed my right eyeball a bit too much and aggravated the elastic connective tissue internal to the ball itself that helps keep the eyeball round, and it tore loose causing the strands to float around (in my ancient, now semi-liquid, Vitreous Humor jelly) and look like a partially attached spiderweb blowing in the wind right in the middle of my field of vision.  Eventually the strands curled up and pulled far enough away from the retina that the shadow of the strands are out of focus enough that I have learned to partially ignore them.  But it has permanently reduced my vision acuity and makes reading difficult.  When I went back to complain about the symptom the doctor says essentially "Oh, yeah, that happens sometime."   Well, gee thanks doc, don't you think you should have mentioned that?  Now I'm wondering how often it happens and how competent you have to be to prevent it from happening.  I can't deny I had lawyers on my mind.

In a similar vein, the only thing preventing me from getting the heart surgery I need to finally resolve my problems is not trusting the country docs in the local hospital.  If you're any good at your profession you don't set up shop out here in the boondocks.  That, and the medical horror stories that I've heard from people in the area.  I trust my local cardiologist enough for him to  read my heart scans and prescribe pills for me but I'm not so sure I want him carving me up.

...that is what it sounds like to me however again I am no legal expert [even though I won a fairly generous negligence suit on my own, however I had training in legal research and procedures and had access to the state law library.  Love the look on the face of the company's attorney when we came to an agreement and he congratulated my "lawyer" after which I told him I had no lawyer. I wouldn't suggest this route though].

I would say you are a good candidate for SS disability. I would look into getting a disability lawyer at the outset as like mentioned they don't take anything unless you get a settlement and thye definitely can speed the process up than doing it on your own.  You most likely could collect back to when you first were having serious foot trouble. My attorney is going back to March of 2013 when I lost my job based to the fact I no longer could perform the physical duties working there required which was part of why I was let go.

...wish we could sue for weather forecast malpractice.  Yesterday teh advance prognostication called for a 70% - 90% rain factor for today through Wednesday with temps in the mid 40s and breezy conditions.  Been dry, partly sunny, and calm since I got up this morning. Had I known that I would not have endured lousy Sunday transit schedules and the crowds at the market.  Felt like I was in one of those Russian dashcam vids having to dodge people pushing their trolleys along while not looking at where they were going (which is why I tend to avoid doing the marketing on weekends).  Had enough food left to get me through to today.

I ordered purple paint either this morning or last night.  Cannot remember which.  I called the company this afternoon to cancel the order to use the funds on something more useful than just purple paint. They assured me up and down that the order has been canceled and within two hours I can place another order from then.

i checked their site and I still see the purple paint order being active and also the canvas board order I tried to cancel because I forgot to realizr that 5” by 7” is not very big.  Despite being reassured that both orders are canceled, they are still showing as active.

now it seems that I can paint tiny paintings with purple paint but I want some tools to help me sculpt the clay I also ordered.

Complaint: It is the middle of winter, my only source of heat is electrical, and the power company is turning the power off for 4 hours this morning for "maintenance"

Call somebody you like really well and invite them to come cuddle in bed with you to soak up their heat.  Or if that doesn't seem doable, call somebody you like really well and invite yourself over to their house to watch their TV and eat their food and soak up their house's heat. enlightened  And if you don't have anybody you like well enough to call for either situation, then you'll probably freeze! cheeky

But there are several non-free solutions.  You could go out for an extended food break.  Movies are always an option.

But as I think about this there are also some free solutions.  Go hang in the mall and pretend you're a teenager and laugh at the old folks.

    Browse your local library.

Go sit in the waiting room of a local car repair place and watch the grime covered TV behind the cobwebs in the corner as the electric heater on the floor singes your pants.

I swear that weather forecasters just throw darts at a board to get their forecasts!  I've been comparing the TV forcasts to Google's weather, the local KXAN station is 45% right nnd Google is about 70% right.  So much for TV forecasts... :-|

Morning. Temporarily cooler here today & smelling of sea-shores because I unloaded a few hundred litres of mashed up and diluted kelp onto our over cooked garden, hopefully it won’t evaporate before whatever garden microbes are left after weeks of heat  get a chance to reproduce ;)

Barometers are still pretty accurate for local conditions, forecasting from satellite data seems overly complicated and quaint and not much help sometimes when all you wanna do is know whether to take an umbrella or not :)

European soccer results are also incomprehensibly splashed over front pages or perhaps I just lead a sheltered life ;)

...wish we could sue for weather forecast malpractice.

I swear that weather forecasters just throw darts at a board to get their forecasts!  I've been comparing the TV forcasts to Google's weather, the local KXAN station is 45% right nnd Google is about 70% right.  So much for TV forecasts... :-|

Barometers are still pretty accurate for local conditions, forecasting from satellite data seems overly complicated and quaint and not much help sometimes when all you wanna do is know whether to take an umbrella or not :)

My ex-wife worked for NOAA (Bational Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) before she moved to NASA, and explained that weather forecasting is working with the largest hydrodynamic system there is! Almost anything can cause a hiccup in local conditions that can be influential hundreds of miles off.. the equations involved are mind-numbing.  Yes, my ex-wife was about 20x smarter than I was and I'm not stupid! :-O
